  • Great tone, poor build quality

As reviewed by Verdict on 10/30/2008

I got this to use as a practice amp and for some recording in my home studio. The tone is top notch for an amp in this price range. I use my Dad's larger Behringer Amp or my family friend's Fender Bassman when I gig so I knew I wouldn't need volume. I really wanted to add another dimension to my bass recordings by micing this amp in addition to recording direct. Instead, I found a number of random vibration noises that correlate with me playing certain notes. however, I discovered that when I used the amp as a foot rest while playing, all humming and rattling went away, which leads me to believe that its just not put together well. It should be noted that when I do this little trick, my recordings come out great. Great tone, poor build quality.

  • A Solid Amp

As reviewed by Nighthawk551 on 9/1/2006

The Behringer Thunderbird is a solid little amp! I've been playing it daily for about a month now, and it has never let me down. For a 15w amp, it gets quite loud. Unless the gain is turned up all the way, this amp doesn't buzz and vibrate like others in its price range. The bass on this amp is excellent; it is very deep and booming. The treble and mid is good too. This amp is meant to look and have a vintage sound, and it lives up to its expectations. With the proper settings it can go from vintage to modern sounding easily. Bass distortion and chorus effects sound excellent on this amp too.

  • Best Amp in it's range

As reviewed by DamnitBobby on 6/4/2007

I'm the type of person who has played ALOT os musical equipment. And when i got this Behringer for free with the Bass I was buying. I wasn't too excited, Behringer although they have great tone, in my experience don't last too long though. And initially I ignored this amp for my other amp. I played it a month or 2 later out of curiosity. And since then it's been my favorite Practice amp. Great sound, although limited in tone options, but who needs equalizers for practice. It's solid as a rock, I've stood on it, kicked it, dropped it, and it's still works like new. Even the amps looks almost as good as new. Best practice amp in it's price range.
