Five dynamic processing functions!

The Behringer T1952 Tube Composer adds modern tube technology to the industry standard for compression, the acclaimed Composer Pro. Like its solid-state counterpart, the Tube Composer offers various dynamic processing functions: fully automatic as well as manual compression, expander/gate, and program limiting. It combines the advantages of hard-knee and soft-knee compression in a single processing function. The result is entirely natural and transparent, even in the case of extreme compression ratios. It also incorporates a warmth control, automatic or manually controllable attack and release times, switchable high-pass filter and monitor function for side chain, a peak-limiting circuit that combines clipper and program limiter, expander/gate circuit for gentle disturbance suppression, and displays for input and output levels and gain reduction.

Behringer T1952 Tube Composer Features:

  • Warmth control and 12AX7 tubes for dialable tube enhancement
  • Interactive Knee Adaptation combines soft-knee and hard-knee characteristics
  • Switchable high-pass filter
  • Compression switchable between interactive-knee and hard-knee operation
  • IGC (Interactive Gain Control) circuitry provides clipper and program limiter
  • IRC (Interactive Ratio Control) expander/gate for gentle disturbance suppression
  • Precise displays for input and output level and gain reduction
  • Stereo link function
  • Servo-balanced inputs and outputs with 1/4" TRS and gold-plated XLR connectors
  • Relay-control hard bypass switch with auto bypass function in case of power failure

A Compressor with added features!

Well..Recently i broke out the reel to reel..Needed a pre-tracking compressor, bought a couple of these and they worked out great! Well, ya'll know when recording a awesome drum track, multi-tracking, dynamics are one of the many key-valued issues addressed before beginning. They worked out fine, compared to drawmers, which i used to own, i was impressed! I've owned behringer products before, nver had luck with them, but had a short budget and needed the gear... Great compressed/tube saturation for drums. Even guitars and vocals weren't bad, but iusually use manleys pre-amps for that sort of stuff etc... all in all, not a bad price to pass up. don't see to many in this price range....

Save your money

I wouldn't consider the Behringer T1952 Tube Composer a wise investment. It has a very dinstinct hissing sound which is apparently supposed to be "warmth." The hissing is ok, but why would I buy this piece of equipment when I can find a more pleasant warmth in the Mic 200 preamp? Especially when the Mic 200 is half the price and a tenth the weight? Right now, my Tube composer is sitting on a dusty shelf on my studio, and no, its not plugged in. I suppose this is because I've grown tired of its limited abilities. I'm made a poor choice, so learn from my mistake. Buy a Mic 200 if you want to save money. Buy a studio projects or Presonus if you want to get a good quality preamp for the same price.

A good introductory level preamp

This is a tube version of Behringers popular composer pro (which is a great unit). The T1952 provides compression, expansion, and peak limiting. When comparing it to my regular composer pro I did not really hear much of a difference. The unit is a nice unit but if you already have a composer pro this may not be much of an upgrade. If you do not already own a composer pro I would recommend this unit I think you would be satisfied with its abilities.

Not bad for the price.

This is a unit you can get by with if your on a budget. The 12AX7 does little or nothing (not powered-up enough in the design). This unit does a good job a basic compressor and you should find it useful in a small home studio setting.
