Premium 2-Channel DJ Mixer with infinium “Contact-Free” VCA Crossfader, Beat-Syncable FX and USB Audio Interface

Just like all BEHRINGER NOX Series DJ Mixers, the PRO MIXER NOX404 is built to connect directly to your computer and take your music straight into the digital realm. The NOX404’s intuitive layout makes it easy to operate right out of the box. Beneath its elegant exterior lies the heart of a two-channel DJ battle mixer complete with a beat-syncable FX section, three-band EQ, switchable FX LOOP, and full-kill filters. Premium-grade phono preamps, along with BEHRINGER's legendary XENYX mic preamps, ensure the ultimate in signal integrity and punch. And thanks to NOX404’s onboard USB audio interface, you can add your MP3s to the mix with just the flick of a switch. The stereo AUX IN section, complete with LEVEL control, is like getting an extra channel for free. It also features BEHRINGER's infinium "contact-free" VCA-controlled crossfader for the utmost in reliability and smooth audio performance. The user-adjustable crossfader curves let you quickly adapt to various mixing styles.

No Media Boundaries
Like the DJ mixers that started it all, the NOX Series offer RCA inputs for your turntables, tape decks, and CD players. They also feature mic inputs with BEHRINGER's exceptional XENYX mic preamps for announcements, an impromptu rap, or any other vocal nuance. But unlike the original DJ mixers, the NOX404 mixer includes USB connectivity so you can access your MP3 library or digitize your own creative mix, directly via your computer. If it can be clicked, spun, or spoken, the NOX404 can mix it!

Beat-syncable FX
A useful and powerful addition to the NOX Series mixers is the internal effects engine. This processor offers 12 high-quality digital effects that can be assigned to the microphone, channel 1 or 2, crossfader A or B, or the main mix. Each effect has several parameters that can be adjusted to suit your purpose. In general, the TAP button is used to beat-sync the effect to the tempo of the music by pressing it in rhythm. The INTENSITY fader usually controls the wet/dry mix of the effect (how much is blended with the unaffected signal). The FREQUENCY knob can have various assignments. In beat-sync mode (engaged by tapping the rhythm with the TAP button), it will determine the tempo multiple. It can also adjust the rate on its own, if beat-sync is not engaged or not available.

Here’s a brief description of the FX available in the NOX404 mixer:

2XCOPY: Makes a copy of the signal, which is delayed by a defined time.

TAPE ECHO: A simulation of the echo effect that occurs between two tape reels, which has a warm, slightly decayed sound.

ECHO: A more modern delay effect, which is very useful for juggling beats and emphasizing musical phrases.

FLANGER: A wave-like effect that modulates the signal.

PHASER: A sweeping phase shifter effect similar to the flanger except that it is enharmonic, thus producing a more "swooshing" sound.

LP and HP FILTER: A low-pass filter cuts out any frequency above its parameter settings. A high-pass filter cuts out frequencies below its parameter settings.

AUTO PAN: Automatically moves the signal from one side of the stereo image to the other.

VOCODER: Creates a robot voice sound straight from the early days of electronic music.

REVERB: This is a classic effect that adds space and air to the sound.

REV REVERB: Reverse reverb.

LMT+DIST: Band-limited distortion creates a tight, compressed, and distorted sound to any signal.

When you hook up a NOX Series DJ mixer with USB connectivity, you’re adding the ultimate modern touches to your rig at a price that will leave you with money left over for lots more tunes. The superior build quality and rugged components used in these mixers mean they will serve you well for years to come.

  • Eh!

    As reviewed by Slot-A Producer/DJ on 7/29/2013

I initially had an Numark M2 for a period of two years. Let's just say it was steady. I recently purchases the Behringer Nox 404 and here's are my thoughts: The Good: -The up-down and cross fader are awesome. Particularly if you're a hip-hop dj. Very good for crabbing and other tight or short movement scratches. Also good for blending between songs. -The effects such as 2x, LPF & HPF, flanger, etc work well and can add to your set if you use them responsibly. -The knobs are thick and feel awesome -Even though it looks like a tank it is fairly light to carry. -The buttons such as tap don't feel too light or fragile. -There are options play from your usb - say if something goes wrong with serato/traktor - you can hook up your usb and play a mix from your itunes library. -if you set it up correctly - with their software you can record your live set. The software also comes with its own plug-ins and uses third party plug-ins as well. -Really great for battle or hip hop DJs - which is a plus. -The mixer itself could be a stand-alone without the effects. -Different modes for faders which can be really cool depending on your playing style. The bad: -The headphone cue is louder in one ear. Its never the side of the headphone where the wire is - its always the other ear. So more than likely you'll be djing with the headphone wire in your face at some point. -The Tape Echo & Echo tend to stop after 3 or 4 echo out which can be kind of weird if you're blending between records. Then if the intensity is past the middle point it'll echo out very low but doesn't blend smoothly with the initial echos. -The hole where the cross fader is held is pretty sharp for some reason. You'll feel nicks on your finger or nail sometimes which can be awkward. -The microphone is all the way in the back under channel 1. If you play like I do - you like to mix it up with vinyl code and vinyl. Sometimes you have to call last calls or shout outs - you darn near have to raise the mixer to quarter in line input. -Sometimes the sound can come in a tad uneven channel wise. I tried playing 1 song in both channels both with the same exact volume and eq - noticeable difference. Which may be bad if you're doing a juggle routine or looping. Overall this mixer is a good mixer for me. I really don't need the effects but some of its inaccuracies can be inconvenient at times.

  • You will get more than what you pay for with the NOX404!

As reviewed by James Henry on 5/18/2013

I will first admit, I am a little bias towards Behringer products, I have their Eurolive 208B?s and the 215B?s powered speakers and extremely satisfied for their speakers quality and sound. Anyway to my review, NOX404, if you looking for an entry level scratch mixer or otherwise look no further. I purchased the mixer not just for the price alone but the features, channel faders are reversible, with separate curve adjust, you can also pan left to right the up faders as well. Infinity cross fader with reverse and separate X,Y curve adjust, with a 1mm cut in, and tension adjust you will be crap scratching in no time. NOX404 have aux in and out, line/usb for audio recording and playback from your pc and phono select of course, effects are assignable with TAP and the mixer has a send and return TRS for an external effects processor so I can use my EFX500, which lead me to choose the NOX404 over big sister A&H XONE22. Not really a CON but an observation: The POTS are plastic, but so are the POTS on my Pioneer EFX500, and the mixer EQ?s are not full kill. If you set the gains and master at the 12 o?clock position you have full kill, but when I turned the gains and master towards the 3 o?clock position slightly to max, I was able to slightly hear audio from my speakers. But at human levels you do have full kill. I would definitely suggest this mixer to a friend. You will get more than what you pay for with the NOX404!

  • Solid mixer for the price...

As reviewed by Christopher Robinson on 12/13/2012

I've read reviews about Behringer mixers and know they don't have the best reputation. I've never owned one previously but decided to give this on a try. PROS: * Good build quality with the brushed metal top and casing * Tension adjustable cross fader * Good fader curve controls * Balanced XLR outputs as well as RCA * Good FX that also work with DVS systems --- but not actively controlling the DVS FXex * EQ kill excellent CONS: * Would like to have an actual on/off button or switch for the mic * Fader caps have a bit of a plastic feel * When channel level is peaked along with the master volume, you can slightly hear music from the other channel Overall, I think this mixer is pretty good - especially for the money. You're not going to get DVS control with a mixer at this price. I like the features and build quality. Worth the purchase if you don't have the $$$ to invest in an higher priced mixer.
