SWEET FOR THE PRICE

This is the best preamp for the money. It warms up vocals, acoustic guitars, & makes bass sound incredible. The presets are well voiced, and incredibly useful, so many settings to modify your sound. The gain is great, because it lets you decide on how much tube warmth you want. Really warm & detailed sound when using a condenser microphone, records very well direct, & low noise.I like it better than the Art mp preamp. It should have an off switch ,but , nothing's perfect, this is awesome for the price.

Good For The Price

I bought a Behringer mic-200 preamp a few years ago and it has proven to be a pretty versatile preamp. It's just a tiny bit edgier sounding than the Studio Projects VTB-1 preamp I have since purchased, but the VTB-1 costs about twice as much. For the price, the mic 200's sound is pretty good. For a first preamp you won't beat it. It definitely adds some warmth to your tracks. Pair this with a Behringer or Studio Projects large diaphragm condensor mic in the $100 range and for a $150 outlay you'll be creating some reasonably warm sounding vocal tracks. If you can afford to spend more, I'd go for the Studio Projects VTB-1, but for under $50, you'll be pleasantly surprised with this.

MIC200

For the price, You cant beat the MIC200. The unit has a limiter which quickly shapes your sound to 16 voicings for guitars, vocals, keyboards etc. The vacuum tube provides a warm sound. I have been using it in the studio and it sounds pretty good. The unit is phantom powered so you can use your condensor mics on it. It has both the 1/4" and the XLR jacks on it so you can use either or. The only problem I have had with the unit is sometimes it produces static noise. The static goes away if you touch the unit (probably a grounding problem). All in all its a really good unit and you cannot beat it for the price.

Behringer MIC200 Tube Ultra Gain Preamp

The Behringer MIC200 Tube Ultra Gain Preamp is a great purchase if you are trying to set up a home-recording studio. It has the pre-sets you need to give the sound you are trying to achieve. For use of vocals, acoustic guitar, or bass, this little thing helps you out. The phantom power works great too for your condensor mics. I love mine and probably will not buy another because of the quality, affordability, and usibility.

Good unit for adding something to your guitar

This is a very inexpensive mic/line preamp, first off I would like to mention that I did not like it for vocal mics. I found it to sound very thin and digitized. Now if you need a cheap line preamp this may be what you need. Don?t expect miracles but it can add a little flavor to an electric guitar.
