I've been a Peavey guy since the 60's but thought I'd try Behringer out. I ordered a PMP 880 powered mixer. It lasted 4 months. The Main channel just died...stopped working...while it was just sitting there not powered up. It was under warrantee so I returned it and was sent a PMP 1280 since the 880 was discontinued. In the 13 months I used it, I can say it is unreliable with little quirkie things coming and going during every performance. Last week the Main channel on this one died but I was able to finish the gig with the Monitor channel. Not having monitors is tough. I am not going to repair it. I'm certainly not buying another Behringer anything. Add a hundred bucks to what they cost and get a Soundcraft or a Yamaha, or a Mackie. I'm giving Behringer two stars because neither mixer died completely and I was able to get through the night.
I am lead singer in a rock and roll 5 piece cover band. My drummer recently bought this to replace the aging Peavey powered mixer we use for rehearsal. I was so impressed with the sound we got that we decided we would use it for our next club gig. We have 4 vocal mics and I mic'ed up the 2 guitar rigs for good measure. I use powered monitors and daisy chained the monitor out. I also sub mixed the kick drum through a Behringer Xenyx 1202 sending 1 signal out to my Sub amp and another back to the 1280s to produce the punch through the JBL SF15's I used for my mains that night. The place was packed but we had no problems with feedback or volume issues. The vocal sound was crisp and clean and the guitar and kick drum sound was excellent. At one point toward the end of the night one of the guitar rigs died and we had to go direct through the 1280s. It performed flawlessly. I have owned several behringer products through the years and they all perform well. As I said so far so good.
I love this equipment! I mounted it with my 4 channel wireless mike set-up into a single unit carry case. Have hauled it around and have to say that it has preformed for me above and beyond my expectations. Its priced right, has huge power and the dual effects is pretty classy, makes it sound big when you need big, and fits fine in a smaller venue. I plan to expand my operation to multiple set-ups and standardize my equipment and this will be my mixer choice.
