Piano Method Books

The piano is one of the staple instruments of the musical profession and hobby, so it's no surprise there are literally hundreds - thousands, even - of piano method books to choose from. They're kind of like piano-teachers-on-paper, allowing you to learn at your own pace and study whenever is convenient for you. And while they're no replacement for a human teacher, they're excellent for independent musicians as well as for working on your skills between lessons. Your piano instructor may also use a method book as the basis for his or her curriculum, so if you've been asked to pick up a specific one (or if you're an instructor yourself), look no further than this section in which to find it.

Apart from teacher recommendations, choosing specific piano method books depends on your own individual needs and aspirations. There's something for everybody here - for instance, if you're an adult beginner, check out the Faber Piano Adventures Adult Piano Adventures All-In-One Lesson Book 1-A Comprehensive Piano Course, or the Alfred's Basic Adult All-In-One Course Book 1 & CD. Or, for younger musicians, try something like the Hal Leonard Kid's Keyboard Course Book 1 or Alfred's Teach Your Child To Play Piano Beginner's Kit on for size.

Maybe you're more interested in looking for a certain method book theme first, and picking out skill level second. In that case, there are certainly some interesting thematic choices waiting for you. If the holiday season is fast approaching, for example, a festive method book could be the way to go - whether that means the Faber Piano Adventures Pretime Piano Christmas Primer Level Beginning Reading, the Faber Piano Adventures Christmas for All Time Level 2 - Adult At The Piano, or any of the dozens of other choices, is totally up to you.

What matters most of all for your piano method books is that you go with the best ones for your personal skill level, musical preferences and, of course, follow the advice of your teacher if you have one. The right method books to help you along your musical journey will be the ones that give you the ideal balance of those things, and with so many available, finding that perfect method book is something any aspiring or advancing pianist can do right here.
