Overview

The B.C.Rich JRV Icon Electric Guitar is a screamer through and through with an onyx finish and red painted bevels. Pearl diamond inlays mark up the glorious maple neck. The guitar also features B.C. Rich neck-through construction for great tone and massive sustain, 25-1/2" scale length, Floyd Rose Original tremolo bridge, and a single EMG 81 pickup.

The Floyd Rose Tremolo System is used by more professionals throughout the world than any other. No copy can duplicate the patented double-locking design of the Floyd Rose Tremolo System that allows you to lock your guitar in tune at the nut and at the bridge. The Floyd Rose Tremolo System is engineered like no other tremolo system. Its high quality steel parts are manufactured to exacting specifications.

The EMG-81 bridge pickup is a high output pickup designed especially for the lead guitarist. The 81 is at its best for high volume overdrive and amps with a master volume. Whether you're playing power rock and roll, or overdriving your amp, there's a razor sharp attack, and incredible sustain for brilliant soloing. If you're looking for exceptional qualities in a rock pickup, the EMG-81 is the one.

This B.C. Rich body styles employs a beveled edge around the shape. In many ways bevels on a top are similar to facets on a cut stone. They catch the light and reflect at different angles giving the instrument more of a three dimensional look. Some of the B.C. Rich top bevels are extreme and wide while others are subtle and narrow. The shape of the JRV Icon is accented by painting the bevels with a blood red trim.

Other appointments on this awesome shredder include C neck shape, 24 frets, 1-11/16" nut width, 12" radius, and a gloss finish.

Comments about B.C. Rich JRV Icon Electric Guitar:

This is the Pat O'Brien signature model, just switched up a bit. Don't know all the in's and out's but sadly I think the big push was put on the Kerry King models and that's about it. A lot of time was put into the development of this axe. They sound killer, and play killer. They kept the design and now don't have to pay him. Nice.

    The same spawn

Comments about B.C. Rich JRV Icon Electric Guitar:

I would be writing about the Deluxe JRV, but as the only ones to be had now are the "NJ" series (not that the model change means anything bad for the guitar)I decided that my review would be much better suited to this model. The Icon is cut of the exact same cloth as my '10 DLXJRV. The differences between the two are slight: The Icon sports a beveled edge as apposed to the double bound squared edges on the DLXJRV. The squared edge is not a problem for me, but a bevel IS always more comfortable. Instead of two EMGs, two volume knobs, and a tone knob (tone control being an absolute waste of wiring on a metal guitar), the Icon gets straight to the point. The Icon does away with all of the unnecessary, ditching the tone control for a straight path from pickup, to volume, to output. No extra trash to take away from the signal of the EMG 81. This guitar is a metal monster, and at the price, it is my opinion that you won't find a more seriously, purpose built metal guitar anywhere. Now that the NJ series is back, the JRV deluxe mey not exactly be the same as it was a few years ago, but the Icon carries on the tradition of the neck-thru, widow headstocked monster, down to the diamond inlays in the highly polished and frighteningly fast ebony fretboard. Take it from me, if you are all about playing the most radical, brutal music you can, then this is your axe. My "original" DLX is a monster, and the Icon is B.C.R.'s "racecar" model of that, striping that monster down to the very core of what a B.C. Rich V metal weapon is all about...total domination. If it had existed when I bought my JRV, it would be the one I would have. This guitar gets six hundred and sixty-six stars.
