This pedal may not be the best Univibe emulator on the market, but the best ones cost more than twice as much as this pedal, and aren't more than twice as good. With the speed around 4 and the intensity maxed out you get great Hendrix and Trower-esque tones. A host of other fine tones are available if you screw around. With only two knobs, great sound are easy to dial in. It's even a fun pedal to look at! I have several other BBE pedals, and the other ones have noise issues. This one seems to be relatively quiet. If you want your tunes to have an occasional stoney tinge, pick up a Soul Vibe today.

This thing sounded great, it didn't pop like the Lovepedal Vibe but it wouldn't work with another BBE pedal, the Mind Bender. When both were turned on they wouldn't work? Weirdest thing?? They both sounded great, but I had to send them both back. I commend MF for their return policy. I will say the Soul Vibe does sound more like a phaser, it gets washed out with too much fuzz of OD, the sound you get is more Curtis Mayfield vs. Hendrix or Trower. I prefer a deeper, real, univibe sound but I have to admit this thing sound pretty good, especially at under $100. Worth a try, if you get a lemon send it back.

Comments about BBE Soul Vibe Pedal:

Wow...First, you need to know that BBE makes a nice variety of pedals, and most of them sound pretty good. They also make the same pedal in different cases, color schemes, etc. Look for any of their pedals on ebay (Soul Vibe, Mind Bender, Boosta Grande to name a few) and you'll see lots of different looks. That being said, I got my Soul Vibe as a Stupid Deal, and the picture shows the 70s dayglo graphics, as well as the cool black dude with the giant afro. The pedal I received was in a very tasteful brown box with script writing on it. Not what I expected, get it? On plugging in, I found the sound to NOT be "vibey" at all. Maybe they think guitarists don't know the difference between tremolo (a varying of volume, like on blackface Fender amps and most Bee Gees records) and vibrato (a shifting of pitch, like Freddie Mercury or BB King). After all, we call our whammy bar a "tremolo" when it adds vibrato, right? Anyway, the "Soul Vibe" pedal seems to take a big chunk of the midrange and cut it in and out. To my ear it is definitely a tremolo effect. Listen to the Fender Rhodes (electric piano) intro on Billy Joel's "Just the Way You Are" to get an idea of what this pedal does. I was expecting a wacky, wobbly good time with this pedal. What I got is a really tasteful effect that is very useful. Graphics aside, this is a really nice sounding pedal. It adds a lot of "vibe," but is NOT a vibrato pedal.

I bought this pedal a few years ago...very nice swishing swaying signal...My only gripe is it lacks a mix control...its not perfectly clean...But I dont mind a little filth to get that classic sound...but otherwise...for a low end jobber...It does a great job recreating those classic Hendrix,Trower sounds we all know and love!

Comments about BBE Soul Vibe Pedal:

I've had this vibe for a few years know. I got it shortly after it was first introduced by BBE. They did an excellent job of creating an affordable, great-sounding vibe that never fails to bring a smile to my face. The internal trim-pot is a nice feature to have if you want to tweak the tone just a bit. Like a lot of players, I think it would be nice to be able to adjust this as a third knob on the outside. However, that's a minor quibble. If you grew up listening to the recordings of Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock and the Fillmore East as well as those first few Robin Trower albums, you have to check out the Soul Vibe.

Musician's freind ships quick as they have a warehouse in Kansas City, MO. So my free 8 day ground shipping arived in 48 hours!
Sounds great in front of my Green Rhino Mark II for the perfect Hedrix combo! It likes to be in the front on the pedal chain.

            I REALLY like the sound!
Comes with a 9V bat in the compartment, and a nice little book to show you some ideal settings. Seem as rugged as any stomp box.
They say it emulatues an obsolete univibe. This is a much better price than even a univibe. A bargain at this price!

Great Univibe for a Pretty Decent Price

            By David Byrd

            from Hawaii

Comments about BBE Soul Vibe Pedal:

Overall, if you want that awesome sound that goes in and out, you found what your'e looking for. I even play regualr slow blues with this on a slower, less intense setting, and it's fantastic. Pick this up. You won't regret it.
First of all, this is a GREAT pedal for sounding like Robin Trower, David Gilmour, and Hendrix. BBE does a fantastic job of recreating a timeless piece and sound (that piece being a Leslie Rotary Speaker). BBE includes a little booklet in the case that gives you some start-off settings (like a Leslie speaker, "Bridge of SIghs' by Robin Trower, "Breathe" by Pink Floyd, and "Machine Gun" by Jimi Hendrix).
The quality of this little box is incredible, as it is with many other BBE products.
It's a pretty fair price (bit expensive, since their are only three features, but nonetheless great).

            Great Pedal

            By James Skinner

            from Texas

Comments about BBE Soul Vibe Pedal:

Another outstanding BBE product. Accurately re-creates the original Uni-vibe sound when adjusted properly. After reading some of the reviews I decided to compare the soul-vibe to the univibe in real time(rather than comparing it to a Hendrix or Trower tune), to ensure that it replicated the original uni-vibe I dusted off my old vibe and plugged them both in and toggled between the two units while making adjustments. The pedal sounds great in my set-up which is 69' Strat(Texas Specials) > BBE Wah > BBE Boosta Grande > Elite Tone Fillmore > BBE Green Screamer > BBE Soul Vibe > BBE Two- Timer > BBE Sonic Stomp > 84' Twin Reverb(Eminence Texas Heat speakers).

A little soul for your vibe.

            By JGM710

            from Texas

Comments about BBE Soul Vibe Pedal:

I ordered this pedal about a month or two ago seeking something to push my solos a little further, when it came in, not only did it push my solos, it made my rhythms much more imaginative as well, It is a very nice recreation of the Univibe pedal, the sound can be anything from a subtle wave, to a strong phase, the only con, is when using heavy distortion, the phase doesn't come through real strong on lead parts, but this may be to blame on my high gain solid-state rig, Overall, I like it alot, the 4.0 is just because it wasn't exactly what I expected, but I'm still very pleased with it.
