Overview

The BBE Green Screamer effect pedal is a vintage overdrive capable of producing a dynamic range of smooth and warm overdrive tones associated with vintage tube amps. The overdrive pedal features rugged construction that can take a beating, thanks to its heavy-duty die-cast chassis. Fat knurled knobs let you dial in your ultimate tone with your toes. The status LED light lets you see the pedal is engaged even on a dimly lit stage. A non-skid pad on the bottom reduces movement, so you don't have to chase your pedal across the floor. True hardwire bypass switching ensures it has no effect on your tone when its disengaged. The BBE overdrive pedal's easy access battery compartment is included so you don't expose your circuitry every time you need to change the battery.

The BBE Green Screamer pedal delivers a creamy, tube-like, dynamically responsive overdrive that won't mask the tone of your guitar and amp. This pedal has three main controls: Gain, Tone, and Level, and a true hardware bypass switch, and can be powered by a 9V battery or AC adapter. Use a Green Screamer pedal as a stand-alone overdrive, adding overdrive to a single-channel amplifier. You can also use it as a solo booster also, not necessarily as a transparent solo booster, but a booster that has a midrange characteristic to boost solos or just to chunk up rhythms.

i just got this pedal 2day based on a recomendation i got from local gc. it has a wide array of sounds ranging from early metallica when the tone and gain is at 10, or a smooth lead , cool blues, and a cool funk sound. it sounds awsome on my jsx half stack on the clean channel, and also works as an amazing boost on the crunch channel. overall this pedal is an amazing buy and it worth the money.

To be honest.........

By Vincent Martin

from Yuma AZ

I really like this pedal and BBE as a company, but 2 problems with this unit 1)knobs are WAY too sensitive, making it difficult to dial in that perfect tone and too easy to lose it. and 2)even with the drive at 0 there is ALOT of dirt coming through this box, so not good for a clean-ish boost at higher volumes. Great for warm, smooth, mid-rangey lead tones but for chords and rhythms its best suited for chunky classic rock and raunchy texas blues!

Can't Go Wrong

By Joshua E

from Palmyra NJ

I purchased this based off of an ad in a magazine with Gus G from Ozzy endorsing it (don't judge me). I like my OD's to be versatile enough to give me some crunch and a nice boost to an overdriven amp. This definitely delivers. What sets this appart from the SD-1 & Wylde OD (both are awesome too) is that your guitar's tone really shines through. When playing with strat single coils you can tell its single coils... when playing through active humbuckers it sounds like humbuckers. Were other the other OD's lack is the clarity that the GS gives you. All knobs are have a good range as well giving you added flexibility to dial in to your preferances as opposed to the Wylde OD (for example) where 0-5 on the gain sounds the same.

Awesome Overdrive

By Joe

from So Cal

I just purchased the BBE Green Screamer and could not be happier. I have played it several times through various single coils guitars (strats, teles, jazzmasters)and compared it with the TS-9, TS-7, Behringer OD800, both Deltalab overdrives, and several of the Boss overdrives. I went with the BBE because the tone knob had a better variation than the TS's and it sounded exactly like them if not just a tiny fraction of a tad darker then the two Ibanezes. blew the other pedals mentioned out of the water, tonally. After that it was priced right for me and with a "sacrifice" of a few other Behringer pedals, I took this home home with me, where I ran it in front of my BBE AM-64 distortion and OMG did it rock. The Green screamer filled all of the holes that the AM 64 had and with the gain maxed on the AM 64 and @3 0clock (tone knobs @ 3 oclock for both pedals) it sounded like a Digitech Death metal distortion with slightly less balls and a few more brights. awesome overdrive for blues and lighter rock songs (also really good for distorting chords) all by its self and it can turn normal, maybe even boring, distortion pedals into metal and hard rock monsters. It is built well, dead quiet (even when boosting another pedal), and has a cool logo. I only wish it had a 3 band EQ instead of the highs tone stack. But that is what my Behringer EQ700 is for...great little pedal for the price BTW. (I never Turn it off, lol)

Sustain, tightens bottom end. Metal!

By Mark

from Howell, NJ

I bought this pedal based on reviews and boy am I glad that plunged in! I played and compared this pedal next to an Ibanez TS808 at a Guitar Center and found the GS to be better and for much cheaper! It has made such a significant different in my tone! I have actually lowered some of my settings because it would over whelm them! I have it straight into my Peavey 6505+ 112 with the BBE Sonic Stomp in my FX loop which is the best place to put it, and my Epiphone Les Paul Custom EMG 81/60. This pedal is designed to drive the tubes of your amp. It is not designed as a distortion pedal. Use it on your dirty/lead channel for amazing sustain/chunky rhythms and use it on your clean channel for blues or whatever may suit your style. You cannot go wrong with this pedal and you will be thankful.

The search is over.

By stuntdoubleelliott

from Howell, MI

I spent a long time searching for a good overdrive pedal. Tubescreamers, Bluesdrivers, OCD's. They're all great but then I saw this little TS-808 copy in store on sale for $45. I couldn't pass it up. I'm kinda' a gear snob and I'm glad I didn't. It futzin' rocks. Not the perfect metalhead pedal but otherwise perfect. Some really nice sweet spots. Cool blue light too. My first BBE pedal and I'm happy. Only got about 2 hours on it but I've heard good things about their construction quality. American Deluxe Tele into reissue '65 Twin Reverb/Vox AC-15.

just buy it

By dale pierce

from houston

Buy this pedal. it has a modified dual op amp that gets you there with really smooth tone and incredibly articulate attack. this is the best kept secret in the tube screamer market. if you're even thinking about getting a ts9 or TS808 just buy the BBE pedal. you'll be glad you did.

Great Overdrive!

By Jason Bourne

from Washington DC

This pedal is great! It's one of the most necessary sounds you need on you're board, and this version goes beyond the staple tube screamer. It has better clean boost, and more hair if you should need it. It's smoother and less boxy sounding than the Ibanez types. Get this pedal, you won't be sorry.

Great as a boost

By VSN

from oregon, il

Bought this pedal as a boost (over the Boosta Grande) for my Blackstar HT-5. It works great--as a boost. As a standalone overdrive...well, it makes a decent fuzz pedal (for bass, too) as long as you keep the gain reasonable. If you set the tone to dead center, it's about as transparent as the Boosta. I've only had it for about a month, but it feels solid and BBE offers a 5 year manufacturer's warrantee. Definitely worth checking out.

A Solid Pedal

By Steve

from Austin, Texas

I purchased this pedal during a sale at GC. I have to say, I would have gladly paid more for it. It has a wide range of tones and allows me to dial in the right sound that I couldn't really get out of my other pedals. It also came with a battery and an adaptor, which I thought was nice. If you are looking for a warm distortion (no ear peircing highs and a natural sound) then this is the pedal for you.
