A rock-solid distortion that churns out vintage style tone.

The 427 is the modern muscle car of distortion pedals, with a big, meaty tone that's ready to kick ass. Another Paul Gagon creation, 427 builds on his experience crafting pedals for the gods of rock, but this one's got a distinctly American voice.

427 fires up with a potent variation of Gagon's proven LED-based distortion circuit as used in the BBE Blacksmith, with the power flowing to a sweepable EQ (CSEQ) section inspired by an early '70s Big Muff Pi and optimized for maximum flexibility.

On a mission to raise hell on rock-and-roll streets from New York to L.A., 427 delivers more raw power than yesteryear's muscle with better handling. With a beefy mil-spec circuit board sporting big, fat signal traces, 1% metal-film resistors and high-voltage poly caps, 427 is engineered to be deliver rock-solid performance and never leave you stranded. And when you aren't in the mood to lay down serious rubber, 427's true hardwire bypass lets your tone slip by without so much as angry glance from the tone police.

  • Meh, Don't Rely on Demos

As reviewed by JASON on 1/15/2015

First I want to say that I really like BBE products. I've been using a Sonic Stomp for years now. I was looking for a good distortion as I run everything in the clean channel and just kick on a box for dirt. The YouTube demos of this pedal made it sound exactly like what I was looking for. Well, I'm sorry to say that Paul Riario's demo on YouTube and what this pedal ACTUALLY sounds like are night and day. I plugged it in to a VK112 using and LTD EC-256 with a Detonator in the bridge and all I got was varying degrees of fuzz. This should be re-classified as a fuzz box, not an actual distortion. Now with that said, you can pull an AWESOME Hendrix tone out of this thing, seriously.

  • BBE 427

As reviewed by JACK on 8/11/2014

I really like BBE products, the BBE 427 is a fine pedal I use it with a BBE Sonic Stomp. The 427 can be used by its self or used as a boost. I use it with a Peavey Classic 30 Head that I recently bought online on Guitar Centers used equipment. The Classic 30 head has a really nice distortion and when you kick in the 427 it goes over the top. I am satisfied with the 427 I looked at reviews of it on Youtube it didn't sound exactly like the videos but it has some very good tones that you can get from it.
