Product Information

This axe is ready to shred and slash.

The B.C. Rich Mockingbird ST features maple neck through construction, a nato mahogany body with a AAA quilted maple veneer, and a Floyd Rose Original tremolo. It's equipped with Rockfield Mafia Pickups, coil tap switches, reverse phase switch and the 5-position tone knob. Inspired by a Mockingbird that a certain top hat wearing legend plays, the Mockingbird ST is, in many ways, very true to the original.

Neck-Through Construction
Neck-Through construction is used on the Mockingbird ST because it provides the best possible sustain, resonance, comfort and access to higher frets. Neck-through has long been considered the premium construction method for high-end guitars. This construction starts with a long piece (or pieces) of premium North American maple. That piece runs from the tip of the headstock to the strap button on the opposite end of the guitar. This means that the headstock, fingerboard, pickups and bridge all are mounted to this single sound foundation. Sonically it is a difference you can hear. The neck-through construction also allows deeper cutaways, providing comfort no bolt-on or set-neck could offer.

Rockfield Pickups - Mafia
Bridge Pickups
The use of a ceramic magnet gives any pickup extra power due to the increased magnetic field they provide. This feature makes the Mafia pickups produce a hotter and thicker tone that's really aggressive and full. The increased low end, thick mids and in your face highs is what rock and roll was built on! Balanced and full of sustain this pickup is a great representation of its namesake, a truly intimidating killer.

Neck Pickups
The neck version of the Mafia pickup is just as full sounding as the bridge position, without taking away from what has already been accomplished. Very minor modifications to the overall design and design concept of this pickup gives it punchy, bold tone with the same aggressive characteristics as the bridge version. A tad brighter with a little less output really takes this pickup into the smooth and warm realm of the tonal spectrum. All while maintaining that balanced bite and in your face aggressive tone that the Mafia is known for!

Beveled Top
The Mockingbird ST Electric Guitar employs a beveled edge around the shape. In many ways, bevels on a top are similar to facets on a cut stone. They catch the light and reflect at different angles giving the instrument more of a three dimensional look.

Mockingbird ST

This guitar is simply awesome. I can go from a really heavy metal tone to a tone that almost sounds acoustic. The Floyd Rose stays in tune without trouble. It is a beautiful guitar also. The quilted top with the black hardware just looks amazing. I've been playing this guitar for almost a year now and i have no complaints.

A Solid Buy For Any Soon-to-be Rockstar!

Having just recieved my Mockingbird, there's no long term information I can provide, but for the few weeks I've owned the instrument, it has been more than worth the buy. The first thing I noticed was how heavy the instrument is. There's alot of hardware tucked into this axe as well as one of the most sleek floyd rose tremolos I've ever seen. Some of the cool features are the fine tune knobs atop the tremolo and numerous options to perfect your signature tone. The factory strings surprised me as well and fit the instrument quiet nicely. This guitar's shining moments are within soloing and power chord riffs, a great instrument to perform with. I am still experiencing some string buzz issues, but I plan on bringing it to the shop to fix up soon. It may only be a low action causing it, but the buzz cannot be heard when amplified for the most part anyway. I recommend it to anyone who wants to play grunge, classic rock, or any genre with a heavy crisp tone. Also, the picture provided by Guitar Center does no justice... this guitar is dead sexy.

Great Guitar, but don't get it for the extra features!

First off, if you're getting this guitar for the coil taps, varitone, and reverse phase, don't bother, cuz none of those do much, and the reverse phase does nothing. Discounting that, this guitar is amazing after you fix a few things. 1) Get rid of the bridge pickup. it sucks. I replaced it with a Dimarzio Evo II and thats been working great for me. 2) before you set it up and fix the action, which you will need to do, get rid of the crappy stock strings. Then the guitar is actually really nice, i'd leave the varitone on the highest setting because its basically an extra tone knob that has presets. Even though none of the niceties of the guitar do anything, I use this guitar more than any of my others. Well worth the price.
