I never, ever, anticipated buying a all-in-one Prodigy FX DJ Workstation as a blind date; however, I actually put my hands on one and was Cuttin' n' Scratchin' on this unit with the aid of built in special effects. It was a must buy for the Price. It's space effecient and lightweight. I've used it for about two months as a mobile dj and I'm finding this piece of art a user-friendly-plug'n'play Device. It's 100% Compatible w/dj Software (Serato) and the effects are awesome for speed mixing and battle scratching. But if you specialize in weddings like I do, then this Unit is more than what you expect as a dj. It has a creative mind of it's own that makes you look good as a DJ.

I was excited to purchase this item due to it's compactness and features; relatively lightweight too. After using in for 2 months, the left cd deck would not eject the cd. I took it to AAA Electronics to get it fixed where it took them 4 months to get it back to me after some very lenghty phone calls, attitudes from the sales team there, and ignored calls. After getting back, I was only able to use it for 6 more months as the left cd deck does not read cds anymore. Furthermore, the plug in the back sits in its housing so loosely that it can fall out during a gig and the powers goes off. AKA dead air. Furthermore, the effects do not work with Serato. Maybe there has been a fix with this lately, but I am not aware of it. This item was a severe waste of money for me. Buyer Beware!

Prodigy FX DJ Wk/Station is a Great Blind Date!

Attention All Dj's

By Joe

from MI.

Comments about B-52 Prodigy FX DJ Workstation:

Every time I see this product advertised I feel it is my duty as a fellow Dj to report my experience with this unit. Please and I do repeat PLEASE don't buy this unit. I had nothing but problems and the customer service is not that good. The effects randomly turn on which totally kills your set and sometimes the drive will drag a bit. Do yourself a favor. Hold on to what you got for a few more gigs then do what you know in your heart you should do and go and cop the Pioneer set up!!! This unit is flawed, buggy and should be discontinued!!!

Great CD Player/Mixer

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Comments about B-52 Prodigy FX DJ Workstation:

I got this system a few days ago and I already love it. It has loads of features and effects that are great for any beginner to intermediate level DJ. They play great and sound great. I had them playing into my JBL Eon G2's for over six hours the other day and I never heard even a slight hickup in the system. If you can't afford thousand dollar cd players and DJ mixers than this consol is the next best thing.

Prodigy FX Experience

By DJ JS3

from Detroit

Comments about B-52 Prodigy FX DJ Workstation:

This is absolutely one of the best all-in-one cd/mixer console loaded with tons of features and great on-board effects. I used it with Serato Scratch Live and it performed flawlessly. My only problem is that the jog wheel is a little too sensitive when cueing or scratching. I would suggest that B-52 include a control to adjust the sensitivity of the wheel for the next model. Overall, controls are "user friendly" and straight forward. Highly recommended!!

I'm in love

By Dave

Comments about B-52 Prodigy FX DJ Workstation:

I saw this at guitar center and played with it for a while. I really liked all of the features and how well-built it is. After a while I decided to buy it and after using it for a number of gigs I won't go anywhere without it. For me it's perfect, my car is a 2-seater and it fits in the trunk so on gigs where I don't need lights or speakers I can leave my truck at home.

Could Be Better

By DJ iNFAMOUS

Comments about B-52 Prodigy FX DJ Workstation:

Its a great unit for a mobile deejay but not everyone. If you use Scratch Live or any other time code program you cant use the effects. If the Mixer dies the whole thing is useless. I'm stuck with a piece of junk.

Great buy!

By Seattle Styles DJ - Brennan

from Bellevue, Washington

Comments about B-52 Prodigy FX DJ Workstation:

i bought the Prodigy FX a little over a year ago and its still running PERFECTLY. It has never shut down on me once or done anything out of the ordinary! Its an amazing deal and i totally recommend this to any DJ. The ONLY thing i noticed that could be improved was that the scratching feature had a little latency. i dont normally scratch with this because i have many other turntables i use aswell but if this is your only system and youre planning on doing some scratching, id maybe go for the NS7. its pretty much the newer version made by Numark. This, although, has its betters too! This comes with many GREAT effects and of course, its extremely reliable. Nobody wants to spend over a thousand dollars on something that will break over a little time... This was for me a great investment and i recommend it to anyone!

B-52 Prodigy FX

By Warren Sankar

from North Miami Beach, FL

Comments about B-52 Prodigy FX DJ Workstation:

I bought this unit the minute I saw it at the Guitar Center in Hallandale, South Florida, back in December 2007. I fell in love with the unit and it's unique features that included the mp3 player, effects and ability to use a usb interface like torq connectiv, serato scratch, etc. I must say I was completely satisfied until I started having trouble with the left deck. I get a "DISC ERR" message when I load any cd. I tried the master reset and deck reset to no avail. It sucks having an expensive piece of equipment that does not work properly. I will contact B-52 Prodigy and check find out my options. I doubt they will fix it since there is only a one year limited warranty on the product.

Highly Disappointed

By Steven A. Scott

from Valrico, FL

Comments about B-52 Prodigy FX DJ Workstation:

I bought this unit back in 2008. At the time, I thought "how genius" an all in one unit that's nice. I has been nice up until I ran into serious problems. It's been repaired twice with the same problem. I tried to have it repaired a 3rd time to no avail. I paid great money for something that hasn't lasted for at least 5 years. During the time that I'v had this product, I took very good care of this system while I had it. It still look brank new but defective. I am very disappointed and upset. I do not recommend this product to anyone. Please read this review before making the purchase. I should have done the same and now I am stuck with something that's very expensive that I can't ever use at a gig. Guitar Center should stop carrying this product.

Comments about B-52 Prodigy FX DJ Workstation:

B-52's customer service is very unprofessional. I bought this system and it stopped working after two months. It was only used 4 times. Before you buy B-52 products, I just want to inform you that if the product stops working, good luck with their customer service dept. B-52's customer service gets 0 stars for being so mean and the way they treat their customers. GOOD LUCK!

DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE

By Keith

from Atlanta, GA

Comments about B-52 Prodigy FX DJ Workstation:

This unit looks high tech but it's really a piece of junk. I've had my unit since April 2008 and its had to be repaired twice for the same problem. My right side cd deck was unable to read discs and both times i was assured the problem had been corrected with brand new parts. Needless to say after 8 weeks my unit was returned to me. I agree with the other reviews...if you are considering purchasing this unit please think twice because its not worth the money.

Unreliable

By Pope

from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about B-52 Prodigy FX DJ Workstation:

Owning this unit for just over a year, and using or renting out for numerous events have revealed several issues. Most important is the total loss of the mixing section, rendering the CDJs useless as well, during a mix on a high profile gig. I would strongly caution anyone using this unit beyond the home studio for that reason alone. When it works, the sound is clean. The booth outs have low level buzz, even with balanced active monitors. Record Out is clean. Main out is very clean. EQ is very nice. Effects work only for the CDJs and NOT for the analog or phono inputs. Nice package for the CD wielding gigger but heed the warning above and have an entire backup rig handy...and it's not the best choice for vinyl because the width pushes the SL1200's way wide. Check the blogs for this rig, there are numerous other quality reports as well.

Comments about B-52 Prodigy FX DJ Workstation:

The first time I saw the B-52 Prodigy FX, I was in love. It has all the effects a DJ needs (scratching, flanger, phaser, filter, etc.) and its portbale too, and heavy duty.

Comments about B-52 Prodigy FX DJ Workstation:

I have experience the same issue with the cd player. The phone call the customer service was bad. The cd player would not eject but i had a warranty and they did not honer because they said I misuse the product it's like how can you insert a cd in wrong. That's call a defect and I had to pay for it out of pocket and they keep my cd. Not to metion my product malfunction about after the third use. By the time I fianaly got it back it was not even in the same condition I shipped it out in.

Comments about B-52 Prodigy FX DJ Workstation:

Do not buy this item. I am not a heavy use DJ, and the left CD J has broken three times, once under warranty and then again after being fixed, now the left CD-J is out again so this will be another 230 repair. Do not buy this item, you will be sorry. The customer service is horrible as well.

Worst Product A Beginning DJ Can Buy!

By DJ Shari Robinson

from Baton Rouge, La

Comments about B-52 Prodigy FX DJ Workstation:

I purchased this workstation and thought that this would be good for me to learn on as new DJ. Wrong! Besides it always "Reading", one of the CD players just say error. It happened at a gig. Thank God for Ipods! B52 doesnt support or stand by this product. Customer service is deplorable. Spend the extra 400 and grab Pioneer, Numark, even Denon before settling. Disappointment all around.

B52 Prodigy - FAILS expectations

By SANDRA D

from Georgia

Comments about B-52 Prodigy FX DJ Workstation:

I've had nonstop problems with the left side of the component reading CDs that are perfectly fine. After surfing the web, it appears this is a CONSISTENT problem for everyone and that there is no fix to truly resolve the issue. it sucks because it is beyond the warranty period. The concept was great, but concepts don't keep bills paid - obviously from this thing. Sandra

Not Worth The Money

By Gregory E. Love

from Atlanta, Georgia 30349

Comments about B-52 Prodigy FX DJ Workstation:

The prodigy fx is loaded with a lot of features, but this mixer is not for mobile or professional dj's. B52 Prodigy mixers are not reliable. On my Prodigy FX the left cd reader would display "error" and not play a cd that had just been slid into the cd player. I would eject the same cd and reinsert it and it would then read that same cd and play it. The connection for the power cord developed a short and the unit would cut off at any time. The left cd player jammed with a cd in it and I could not get it to eject the cd. After returning to the Guitar Center where I had purchased it, I was given another brand new Prodigy FX. The new unit developed the very same problems as the previous one I had purchased. The unit looks professional and is loaded with many desirable features but I would recommend this unit for use only at home. Repeat: Only At Home! This unit is prone to go down at any time. As a result, I would not recommend anyone to buy this mixer. I not only bought a B52 Prodigy FX, I also bought a B52 Prodigy (the cheaper version of the Prodigy FX). Both units had the same problems; cd readers that wouldn't read, cds getting stuck in the cd players, etc. Buyers Beware!
