Was looking for a nice portable system as I DJ Karaoke at several places weekly. This system is great in a small to medium sized room! Great mids and decent lows. The effects could use some help, but what can you expect for the price? I've done Karaoke for about 120 people with no problems getting the sound out! I suggest speaker stands and lift the speakers as high as you can. I'd have given it 5 stars, but the case it comes with sucks. The handle broke off completely on the first day and there are no other handles...makes transport a pain. I had to bolt a handle on to roll it around. HEAVY little system, but worth it! Buying the Matrix 2000 for larger gigs.

I had high hopes for this small PA. Though, had multiple problems with this unit and had to take return/replace it 3 times to GC. First time, there was no volume coming out of the amp, plus the front of one of the speakers was dented. The entire unit was replaced. But, when I got home, I noticed that one of the tweeters was dead. Went back to GC and swapped out the speaker. Now, the right output channel has shorted and the unit sits in repair at the shop, under warranty. I do appreciate that this unit comes with a carrying case...however, there is only one handle for pulling with the rollers. But, when you want to lift the heavy case, there is no where to grip it. One last gripe... That that's what you get with the low end units. Thing is, I only needed a small portable unit. I believe that it shouldn't matter if it's small or big unit.... they should still be made with the same high quality. Buyers beware....

great system, but get pro coverage

By GERALD MARSH

from Scranton, PA

This system is loud, portable, and sounds great. It is very tough and easy to transport. The 6.5" drivers provide plenty of mid/low for any event up to 200 people. The highs sound great with the tweeters HOWEVER, the tweeters are weak and will not last through a long session with high volume levels. Get pro coverage and be safe from the worry of losing your highs. My system has one blown tweeter now, it still sounds good but you can hear it rattle a bit if you are close the speakers. The amp is great though, tough, compact, easy to mount on a mic stand, and very powerful. Do not overlook this system as just another portable, inexpensive option

Compact, Powerful, Convenient!

By Steve Han

from Los Angeles, Californication-ia

I've had the Matrix 200 system for more than 3 years now and I took it to gigs after gigs. It is so compact and powerful, it carried voice and piano in most clubs and events we've performed at with flying colors. The suitcase itself is such a space and energy saver, all pieces just fitting snuggly and the wheels on the suitcase really saved time and energy, compact enough for almost any car trunk. The sound is clear and it is built tough with good material. I know the limitations of a 100 watts per side stereo PA system, and I don't abuse the power, especially pumping out any un-mastered CDs and deep sub-bass from a DJ system, even though their warranty through GC is excellent. If you desire some thump for a loud event, you can add a powered subwoofer to it, great feature, although there is plenty of low frequency from the 2 speakers. I don't have the patience and energy to lug around a big system so this is perfect for me and my band. Affordable and just powerful enough with great "ready made" effects, including different reverbs and delay features, heavy gauged speaker wires included. I'm going to buy another system for the church youth group, they will love it as I do.

b52 200

By jim kirk

from hebron, indiana 46341

i use the matrix 200 b52 for music shows. it has a good sound for the $$$$$$$$$$. however, i'm disappointed that the speakers have only one plug-in and cannot be used in series. my salesman neglected to qualify my needs and at the time, i didn't know the difference. there is no way to hook up monitors. also, the carrying case handle broke at an early age. i have had the system for maybe 2 years and the handle broke a long time ago. i bought my system at guitar center in merrillville, indiana. jim kirk

Great value for the price!

By Peter Wolf

from Fort Worth, TX

I'm a clean standup comic and sometimes get calls to do venues that have either poor or no sound system. This unit is perfect for my needs because it is portable and delivers enough power to provide my audience with quality sound reproduction in small to medium size venues. The mp3 jack is a nice feature allowing me to play background music and song parody tracks straight from my ipod w/o any fancy adapters. The rolling case is a bit cheap. The little pull-out stand to help it keep from tipping over broke on the second gig, but I'm blaming the guy who "helped" me get it out of my car. Overall it's a great, reliable system and very user friendly.

Try at the store, and then try the Yamaha Stagepas 300

By birdbrain

from Spokane WA

The PA has distortion in it, particularly for piano. I am a piano player and absolutely have buyers remorse! The waranty is great, but after sending it to the nearest authorized repair shop (250 miles away) it came back the same. I went back to GC today and they demo'd a new Matrix 200 (with some Cold Play) we all heard that same distortion in their brand new PA. On the shelf right next to it is the Yamaha Stagepas300. Playing the same tune we were all impressed at the clarity and lack of distortion. I am kicking myself. Dont make the same mistake as me. Spend another 50 bucks and be happy.

What can I say, this thing is nothing less than SPECTACULAR!!!! Great sound quality. Great mixer. (easy to use) Great everything! I was only able to find one problem...it's not the lightest pa ever. (Little heavy for me, then again I'm 12.)But other than that, this is almost perfect.

Need tweeters Tweeters

By Dennis

from Dewitt NY

I have had this system for over 2 years and have replace tweeters twice.(replaced under warranty) Playing @ only 6 on the volume max. I've had to add a powered sub also, which you can with this system unlike others in the price range. They need better tweeters, other than that it's a great system for the money

great PA

By mjh2k1

from nw IN

Been using this PA for small shows (coffee houses, parties, benefits) for nearly 2 years now and it's never let us down. Sennheiser and Shure mics. Sound is clear and adjustable, though I've never tried to play auxilliary sound through it so I don't know if it's great for Karoeke or not. sorry. but it's plenty loud, and we've never had a problem with sound even when playing outdoor shows with a 5-piece band
