The B-52 LS-100 Guitar Amp Head represents the latest in the ever expanding line of highly acclaimed B-52 guitar amps. Friendly features combined with the latest advancements in preamp technology makes the LS-100 amp head an outstanding choice for the professional player and the weekend warrior. The clean channel now has the exclusive B-52 "Mid Cut" feature. This push-button allows you to select the classic, warm vintage sound or a pristine, almost acoustic-like tone with tons of headroom. The overdrive channels go from moderate classic breakup to monstrous gain, totally controllable thanks to the individual gain and master controls for each overdrive mode. The overdrive channels now feature the new, B-52 assignable Contour control. This allows you to preset the Contour control and have it automatically activate on the gain channel of your choice. Whether you are playing to a stadium crowd of 50,000 or practicing at home in your garage, the LS-100 will produce awesome crunch, smooth mids and crystal-clean highs. It is also capable of producing massive amounts of distortion, perfect for any style from blues to metal.

A friend of mine bought this half stack, and was convinced that it was the best modeling amp out there. So naturally, I had to hear it. I plugged in my Jackson Dinky DK2M and began on the clean channel. The clean channel sounded really good, but it's hard to mess up a clean channel. Then I went over to the overdrive channel and was impressed and let down all at the same time. It has a great classic rock overdrive tone, I mean really, really good. But when I went into overdrive two, the "metal" overdrive, I was greatly dissapointed. It just didn't have a great kick in the butt for that true, crunchy, meaty metal tone. If you want an amp that is good for most genres, look no further, but if you need a modeling amp to do metal, look else where, my friends.

B52 LS100 Head

By Dale Birmingham

from West Virginia

Comments about B-52 LS-100 100W Guitar Amp Head:

I have been using this B52 head for 2 years with a Marshall 4-12 Cab. My Gibson LesPaul Deluxe loves this amp. It produces great bottom end, mids and highs. Whether I play rythym, leads, use my slide or an octave pedal, it pleases me, and I am particular. I consider the B52 a thrifty musicians' answer to a Mesa Boogie. Only gripe, this thing is heavy !
has all the features I need. Gave it a 9 as I am not sure a 10 exsists
2 years and no trouble with it at all
Can't find another decent tube head for this price

This Amp Rocks The House

By David Gross

from Burlington, VT

Comments about B-52 LS-100 100W Guitar Amp Head:

Three channels, Hi Gain, and enough Reverb to get a surfer wet... Honestly just plug in a guitar with EMG's or Duncan's and think Tony Iommi or Tool...Gain 2 has bags of distortion without loosing definition. The Reverb is adequate but I add a chorus peddle for "over the top" situations. This amp does more than Metal and Thrash but I bought it for Metal and Thrash and it does that perfectly.

B-52 LS-100 100W Guitar Amp Head

By Alex Lopez

from El Paso, TX

Comments about B-52 LS-100 100W Guitar Amp Head:

I play all types of music through this, from blues to jazz to death metal and rock and roll. Sounds fantastic and the distortion on it is pretty sweet too!
In the music that I play, I need a head that sounds good with percussion from my Alesis Performance pad. I have never been a big fan of tube amps, and this one blew me away. I am not to familiar with this brand, but it sounds great! The toms and cymbals sound perfect paired with an old crate cab. I have an EQ to get the tone I want from my guitar. The head is to eq the drum/percussion sounds.
Pretty sturdy man!
The price is not bad for a great sounding solid state head!

B-52 LS-100

Comments about B-52 LS-100 100W Guitar Amp Head:

i love this amp. i have yet to practice with it but it sounds incredible
This amp is incrediblee for the price. to me it has the top end bite of an Orange. It has very prominent midrange and deep warm low end. it sounds pretty good at moderate volumes and has a LOT of gain on tap. There are 3 channels and a sweet built in reverb.
Mine was used, and has some tolex tears. the effects loop doesn't work but it takes effects really well. this thing seems like it can take a pounding. i have my old amp as a backup but i doubt i'd need it.
For the price, this amp is incredible. if somebody stole it i'd sell my pedals and old amp for another because it's just that good

Three channels for under $300!?

By Ben Roberts

from Knoxville, TN

Comments about B-52 LS-100 100W Guitar Amp Head:

It's a three channel amp. Great for blues and jazz on the cleans. Awesome rock tones on the overdrive. Overdrive two can get very metal. The features are great especially for the price.
For the price, this thing has alot of good features. The Clean Channel has a great mid cut switch for super clean sounds. The two overdrive channels share an EQ but you can use the assignable contour control to change the mid voicing. The level controls on the Fx loop are also great. It has a record out for easy recording. I run a cord from the record out to my computer's mic input for simple recording.
People bash them because they're made in China but I've never had any problems with it.
This amp is way better than amps hundreds of dollars more expensive than it. How many other three channel amps are there for $250?

Comments about B-52 LS-100 100W Guitar Amp Head:

it sounds good, i dislike the sensitivity of the controls but it's alright. the amp was the best investment in my tone i've made.
this amp has 3 channels and a built in reverb. it sounds good, especially at low volumes. i like OD2.
i got mine for a great price used. a few dings in the tolex and the effects loop doesn't work but i don't care. it sounds incredible.
for the price I paid, this amp is great. for three times the price, this amp is great.

Great Solid State Amp!

By Brian Berry

from Florida

Comments about B-52 LS-100 100W Guitar Amp Head:

Most people think that tube amps are better than solid state. The reality is that they are just different. They are different the same way fender and marshall amps are different. This is most noticable in pick attack (i.e. no amp sag). Also this amp's EQ is super sensitive. This means there's greater tone shaping but also a little more difficult to dial in a sweet spot. I got this amp because solid state amps are inherently more reliable than tube amps. Also, the greatest aspect of this amp is that while it's solid state, it does not have any digital effects built in. To me, that's just one more thing that can go wrong. I've gigged with this amp many times and simplicity is key when playing out.
Can this do metal? Of course! What 3 channel amp isn't built to do metal? It reminds me of my mesa (before it blew up!) However, I got this amp for its clean tone. I would say that with tweaking the clean channel is sort of vox-ish. Maybe even hiwatt-ish. I A/Bed the amp next to a ciera tone JTM-45 clone and it held it's own. Again, this all depends on your EQing preferences.
Look no further! All the features you're tone-lusting heart desires are found in this amp! 3 channels. Channel 1 has it's own 3 band eq and Channel 2 and 3 share a 3 band eq. None of this single tone knob nonsense (cough-ORANGE-cough). You want an effects loop? You got an effects loop! Direct line out for recording that song that's gonna make you famous. Warning: if you stand in front of this amp while she's dimed, this 100 watt beast will tear your favorite jeans into an embarrassing pair of daisy dukes.
Very well built. The knobs are made of metal and feel very solid. I've gigged with this amp many times and it never crapped out on me. You don't have to worry about tubes breaking or needing to be replaced. At the same time this is not a brittle sounding amp (unless you're a tone virgin).
One of the best values on the market. 250 bucks? That's about equal to one night of playing covers at a local bar. After the gig, wake up, deal with your hangover, make that promise that you're done drinking, grab your cash and buy this amp. Repeat as necessary.

Keep Looking...

By Alex

from Chicago, IL.

Comments about B-52 LS-100 100W Guitar Amp Head:

If you're looking for a modeling amp that does metal, stop reading this and look else where. I was very unimpressed with the overdrive on this head, when it came to the metal department. Great, surprisingly warm tones for rock, but that's as far as it goes. Good clean tones too, though. Decent amp, just not for metal. The cabinet, however is phenomenal. I would recommend the matching cabinet to anyone.

decent for the price

By Lance

Comments about B-52 LS-100 100W Guitar Amp Head:

nice amp if your looking for cheap one for shows, handles gain from my pedals good and has more than enough power for smaller shows that arnt mic'd i also have a 1980's jackson reference 50 and that wins out but its a tube amp. quality on the b-52 is ok, living in a small town and having to travel 100+ miles to play with simular genre of bands (hometown is mostly punk) so there is some wear and tear that is bound to happen with you throw a whole bands gear in the back of a pickup and stack everything like a game of tetris but for a good second amp or gigging amp it'll do everything you need. reverb is ok, deffenetly not fender reverb quality.
