Overview

The B-52 ATX-100 tube amp head is perfect for guitarists of every level. Whether you are playing to a stadium crowd of 50,000 or practicing at home in your garage, the ATX will produce awesome crunch, smooth mids, and crystal-clear highs.

The B-52 ATX-100 has a 100% pure all-tube signal path, incredible tone, and an array of friendly features. It combines the superb tone and punch of a matched quartet of Sovtek 5881 power tubes with specially selected 12AX7 preamp tubes for solid tube tone and reliability. This roadworthy amp head provides the serious musician with monstrous gain, an extreme range of tone options and a sparkling clean channel.

The three-channel B-52 ATX will take you from shimmering cleans with just the right touch of its lush spring reverb, to an all-out metal assault. The clean channel is designed to stay clean all the way up unless you push the master volume to get that nice warm power tube break-up. The clean channel features a volume, responsive 3-band EQ as well as a bright switch. The B-52 head's overdrive section features 2 channels with separate volume and gain controls that share a 3-band EQ. The newly designed mid-cut feature is assignable to either of the overdrive channels giving you the ability for a brutal rhythm channel and a searing lead tone. All channels share a master volume, low-res (resonance) and reverb control.

So far, so good!!

By MD

Comments about B-52 ATX-100 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

My first all-tube amp, so not much to compare it to. Tone is a vast improvement over the LS-100 head that I had. Doesn't seem to "woof" at the lower frequencies and I'm using the same cab as I was, the LS412A. Warmth?? Not sure there is enough but as I said I'm newbie at tube amps and a picky one at that. The definition of the crunch is outstanding though. I so far have played through it with a 7 string, 3 diffrent les pauls and a fender strat. All with diffrent pickups and configurations. The only tone so far I've been dissapointed with was the strat tone, but most likely I just need to adjust the settings since this is acctually an amp thats "adjustable". That acctually responds to the tone settings as real time musical preferences, not sure how else to convey this, someone out there will get what I'm talking about though. You know one of "those" amps that if not set a certian way with enough gain and the bass, highs and mids radically turned up or down, won't perform properly. Will be playing this summer in gigs with my band and am looking forward to breaking it in. O yeah, and the color was ok, the looks were ok, design cosmetics were ok, blah, blah...Hey if your a true working musician all ya care about is what it sounds like when you plug it in..as long as it's not done in sparkly hot pink or something ridiculous like that. Good buy, I think is a bit of a sleeper in the amp community.

Great head for the money

By jay

from northridge California

Comments about B-52 ATX-100 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Let me start out by saying im not partial to tube or solid state amps. I believe Whats most important is that it sounds good and is reliable. I have seen these amps in the stores for years and never considered buying one because the price was so cheap I figured they must be junk. I was at the Namm show a few weeks ago and I decided to try one out just for fun. I was blown away at how great this head sounded, even through the "el cheap-o" demo guitar. what I liked most was the amp had a really aggressive tone that you usually cant get in most heads without using effects. The clean channel was a simple nice clear clean channel, nothing fancy. I dont think its fair to hear people comparing this amp to a high dollar mesa, soldano,VHT or 5150. this a $600 amp that sounds amazing. personally I think it blows away most the stock Marshall amps I've ever played through. I cant speak for the durability cause i just went out and bought it today, but we shall see in a few weeks.

Comments about B-52 ATX-100 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Pure creamy tube tone, all channels sound wonderful.. i would put this up against any of the more costly amps..Only one problem i get a little bet of volume drop when using the effects loop.

Amazing tone

By Aaron

from Verona, VA

Comments about B-52 ATX-100 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I have owned this amp for about a year now and I have yet to find any amp, other than a mesa boogie, that has a tone this good. I did have to replace the first one I got because i bought it used and the clean channel gave out, but since then I haven't had any trouble with it at all. It has an amazingly warm crunchy gain and a nice clean as well. The mid-cut knob is nice and allows you to get a lot of different sounds out of it. You can get a scooped out metal sound if you want or turn the mid-cut off and get a nice classic rock sound, or anywhere in between. It is only $$$ so i imagine it isn't the highest quality amp you can buy, but if you're looking for a great amp sounding amp at a ridiculously low price you should definitely buy this one.

Rock Fans

By Andre

Comments about B-52 ATX-100 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Rock fans look no further , this amp has not only a great , crisp clean channel , but it helps give me the best distortion ive ever used. And while the distortion alone on the amp is great , when i tweak it and add my overdrive pedal to it , the results are unbelievably powerful and clear . If your looking for something to write music with or to deliver live , you've come to the right place.

Comments about B-52 ATX-100 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

This amp has an amazing sound and look! I bought this amp and it shreds! I play in a metal band and i can hit super clear screaming highs and super chunky thick lows! this amp is easy to work with and is very simple, yet it produces an amazing sound.

Anything but this...

By C. Alexander

from Lubbock, TX

Comments about B-52 ATX-100 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Looking for an all valve amp for both home practice and live shows, I bought this per several store employees recommendations. Got it home and had the wrong floor pedal, replaced within three days. Turned amp on for first time and nothing, it froze! Removed floor pedal and then it played. Sort of... This is the worst, clinically sterile, amp that I have ever attempted to play through. After waiting a week for B-52 and the store to return emails with me regarding this amp/floor switch, I gave up and took it back! Got a Vox Night Train instead... Ironically, the day after I returned the amp, B-52 sent me an email--return the amp to the store, it is damaged.
