I bought this amp about a year ago, mostly because I wanted a tube combo amp, I could afford this one, and I like the sound when I played it in the store. A year later, I have to say I am very happy and impressed. In a word, this is a very FLEXIBLE amp--you can dial in pretty much any sound you want. Great clean sound. Distortion is a nice mix of saturation and crunchiness. EQ's on each of the three channels, plus a mid-scoop knob (called "low res") and tri-mode rectifier allow you, with a little work, to find just the tone you want. Two caveats: (1) I don't think the reverb is very deep; I keep it dialed all the way up all the time. (2) I play mostly hard rock, metal, and some blues/funk. If you play country or jazz, you might be able to find a good tone for you, but I can't vouch for it. Bottom line: go to the GC nearest you, play this amp side-by-side with 2x12 Marshall and Mesa combos. I think it more than measures up. The low price is just gravy.

I bought one of these Amps and attempted to jam with it. Like most other reviewers say it has a great clean channel. On the one I bought however the overdrive was terrible. I got a lot of noise other than my guitar. I had to turn my guitarall the way up in order to get some power. I Own an Old Peavey classic with footswitch and it sounds 10x's better than the AT212.

Pleasantly Surprised

By Paul Speed

from Santa Barbara, CA

I needed an all-tube amp for studio applications mainly, and I was totally blown away by this amp. I have owned Mesa Boogies and Marshalls, Groove Tube Soul-O's, Crate Vintage Series, and this amp ( if it doesn't break) kills them all. It has a tremendous range of sound, and the price is just right.

B-52 AT100 212 Review

By DSF903

from Phoenix, AZ

If you are looking for a tube amp to cover many different styles of music but don't necessarily have the cash usually required for a great sounding tube amp, look no further. B-52 has a winner in the AT 100. This amp is loaded with user friendly features and high end quality components. The clean channel sounds excellent and has plenty of headroom and sounds great with the channel switchable reverb engaged. The Overdrive channel has two seperate gain stages, each with their own volume. The contour control for the Overdrive channel scoops the mids and can be used for either or both gains. I like the fact that this amp can sound clean and sweet, perfect for jazz or blues, and then it can go right to heavy didtortion. This amp is suited for all types of music and at this price, you simply can't pass it up!

Simply amazing

By spittle8

from Detroit, MI

This amp does it all: blues, metal, rock, surf, cleans, it does it all, and does it good! This amp is very loud, being a 100 watt tube amp. However, the various channels and settings allow great metal tone without reaching breakup through excessive volume. This is a HUGE asset. Real tube tone, delivering every conceivable genre and tone, and being able to crank at extreme volumes, and produce at lower volumes. The build quality isn't supposed to be the best, with non-American tubes, but that is no surprise. This amp is a FANTASTIC deal. It is the whole package: price, loudness, tone, and versatility. I can't say enough things about this amp. I've over 30 hours on it.

This is more like it!!

By baberufus

from West Jordan, UT

I bought this amp after returning a Peavey ValveKing 212, because the B-52 has a dual-mode gain select on the dirty channel, something that NO OTHER TUBE AMP has in its price class, including that goofy ValveKing (see my review for that, too). Not any that I found, anyway. This is a very important feature to me, and it works great on the B-52. You're able to boost your leads on the same channel. Why doesn't anybody else ever say anything about that? I don't get it. Anyway, I'm very happy with this amp. At first, I thought the sound was a little thin, and I always turn the mids and lows way up and cut back on the treble. But it seems to sound better and better the louder and longer you play it. It seems more responsive to effects like delay, too, than my old Fender Hot Rod Deville. The B-52 tone has more bite, in summary. Having the triple rectifier with solid state as one of the options is pretty cool, too. But again, that dual-mode gain channel operatable with the footswitch was what sold me on getting this amp, and I'm still glad I did!

b52 dropped the bomb(in a good way)

By prsman09

from O'Fallon, IL

This amp is killer!!!!!! It has endless possibilities with the tri-mode rectifier and the three modes of tubes(a, ab, and solidstate). You have an extra parallel port for a cab which means this amp can act as a 6x12 half stack. The clean is so crisp and percise. The reverb is better then any stomp box out there and the two overdrive channels give you more then you would ever want. In all, b-52 made a stellar amp on this one.

B-52 AT-212 all tube combo

By Ye Ole Rocker

from Pelham, Al.

2 years of exhaustive research, testing, ... ended @ my B'ham GC, with the purchase of my AT-212. Without going into a long drawn out review, this is simply the BEST amp on the market. Price wasn't an issue for me THIS time. I was prepared to pay the price to get the "sound." For me this one was it. Well worth the purchase price and then some. Great for all styles.

I found the sound!

By GB Cheatum

from Florida

For years I have bought different guitars looking for that sound we hear on records with long sustain and that bell like clarity when the guitar seems to sing like it is on its own ! This last year has been a frenzy of new guiatrs and a a couple of new amps. My latest purchase the B 52. I have found the sound I have searched for. This thing makes my cheapy Dean sound better! Its hard to go to bed at night because i don't want to stop playing! Clear and clean on ch 1 and nice and crunchy on 2 without all that fuzz the fender or the marshall leaves you with. Despite the fact that this is my first tube amp! The greatest buy on the planet ! I did my research and this is the best deal I have made in the last year and there are quite a few! Go to the store and try this thing out ! You will not be dissappointed!

great amp

By TimmyR41

from Mifflinburg, PA

Up until I walked into guitar center I had planned on a Gibson Les Paul and a Fender Hotrod Deluxe 2-12. What did I walk out with. A Gibson Les Paul Classic and a B-52 AT212. This amp is amazing. Cleans sound great and the gain channels sound even better. I would recomend this amp to anyone looking for an upgrade. This thing is loud and it will cut through. Great amp for a great price.

I bought my B-52 212 all tube amp a month ago. It seems to be something I've been looking for in a amp for awhile great sound. The price was right allso. The sound is awesome on clean and crunk, and all in between a cool warm sound all the presect and controls make a great change in sound with little ajustment if your looking for an amp with a good price range and sound of a all tube amp then you'll like the B-52 as much as I do.

Wow...

By Steve

from NJ

When I was looking for a 2x12 combo, I was at GC center for hours testing out amps. Came across this 2x12, never really heard much about B-52, but I was blown away when I tried it out. This amp can handle anything from blues to metal, and has lots of gain on tap for those who like too much gain. The contour knob is a nice feature, lets you really adjust your mids. When I tried this amp, I tended to dial in a dark, heavy tone (BIG Dream Theater fan). Like I said, I was blown away with by this amp. Lots of power, versatile, and a decent clean channel.
