metal

By Stephen Sitzman

from Washington - "the legal state"

after wearing out the pearl pedals that came with my kit it was time to shop for new ones. Trick are the top of the line but are twice the price of the axis, so after deciding that the bragging rights weren't worth the extra $ (unless I had unlimited funds of course...)I opted for the A longboards. As a drummer my preference in music is speed/groove metal. I had read reviews where people said it took a bit of time to get used to them and some didn't ever adjust ect... setup is everything and there are no shortage of adjustments. My final settings were - spring at medium tension (right in the middle) beater angle at 45 deg. and accelerator set at one inch of space from the bottom of the adjustment track. maybe start there and don't be afraid to try different settings. so as far as feel compared to a standard pivot pedal it is a little different and you need to be aware that you have a lot of room to slide down to the sweet spot for those 32nd notes and those power 1/4 quarter notes seem like they are a little further down as well but in reality not much. The direct drive has an extremely positive feel. I used pearl multi beaters on the plastic side as the "sonic hammers" were kind of flimsy and would recommend the axis plastic ones instead (better sound and feel) so overall these are pro pedals and I don't have one bad thing to say about them, highly recommended...

axis pedals is the way to go

By jose gonzalez

from mcallen tx

first i have to say dang!!!!! beyond what i expected this pedal is very well made, love everything about it and i just got it.It does take a bit to get used to but well worth money as for the beater, at first i was disappointed but that was my fault reason being you must adjust to your preference. Saying that it has a very good powerful hit plus comes with different attachments for beater.I must say i highly recommend this pedal i traded my tama speed cobras for this axis pedal, it was a very good pedal but this one beats it. It also depends in the drummer and what makes you comfortable thats just my personal opinion

Axis Powers

By MARSHALL DAVILA

from Texas

Axis A Longboards give you speed and power and precise control. They are easy to adjust and very sturdy. Lightweight and durable they give you exactly what you need when playing fast bpm. Sonic Hammers suck but what's new? Through some Iron Cobra beaters on and it's perfect. These pedals don't make you faster, but they will allow you to do more with them than any other pedal.

Animal of their Own!

By Zakk

from Mishawaka

WOW is all im gonna say! i have been through all sorts of pedals the DW 5000s, Iron Cobras, and Yahama Flying Dragons! This pedal though i cant say enough good things about it.. i have had them for a little over a week now and they are just amazing! the power the feel everything! this pedal has soo much power with so little work! EVERY drummer wants that right! its fully adjustable and very easy to adjust to say the least! and the spring! the spring is soo heavy duty its not even funny! on every other pedals ive used my spring tension has usually been maxed out or pretty close! on these Axis medium tension is 10x tighter then regular pedals! theres NO lag in these pedals what so ever! what your feet and legs can do this pedal will do no problem! However if you are switching from chains over to these you might a rough time for awhile because its a totally different feel and being the footboards are soo light they feel very awkward at first but just keep at it and once youve gottin use to it it will no be no problem.. HOWEVER! the only flaw is the sonic hammer beaters. They are VERY VERY top heavy so id use your previous beaters! so yes all in all i highly recomment this pedal if your the drummer that wants the speed an the accuracy and the power goes with these ull never turn back!

Awesome Pedal!

By Joel

from Orange,tx

I traded in my DW 9000 single pedal for this one and have not looked back. This pedal is smooth and gives a very solid attack on the kick, I play rock music and this pedal is great. It does have a differnat feel from chain drive pedals but once you get used to it you can really play anything you played on the chain pedal on this one but faster and with more attack

Great pedal!

By John M.

from Austin, TX

This pedal does exactly what you tell it to do. The direct drive mechanism means there is no lag time, very little give, it just follows exactly what your foot does. And there's no loss in power from your foot to the batter head. I've had it for about 3 weeks now, and it's probably the best drum equip purchase I've made in a few years. Also, for those with big feet like me (size 12) this pedal gives you an extra inch or so, and really makes a difference. I wish I bought this pedal years ago. My kick drum precision is seriously improved, and it feels great.

If you play extreme metal, this is the pedal for you!!!

By J.C Denton

from Chicago

I never thought that I could be able to play over 220 bpms for long periods of time until I played on Axis Longboard A's. They are so light and fast, muscle fatigue becomes a thing of the past! I also achieved greater power at those speeds. You owe it to yourself to give these a shot. You won't regret it!!!

Great pedals

By Kyle

from RI

Ive been playing with these pedals for a month or so and im impressed by the responsiveness and speed due to the direct drive and very lightweight design. I previously played Iron Cobra PG which are a great pedal but they felt like bricks and laggy when trying to play fast. The Axis pedals take a bit getting use to and have a far different feel then conventional chain drive pedals but payoff once u get past the learning curve. If you are into extreme playing such as death metal these are great, as they have a unique triggering kit called the e-kit that is a very responsive stand-alone component versus unreliable pad style triggers. The 'Longboard' design helps playing the heel-toe method easier and more evenly expressed, although heel toe can be played on any pedal (may make easier for people with big feet as well). Overall a great pedal for the money!

Wow

By B.Verr

from Yompton, OHIO

I didn't think they would make too much of a difference, but OH MY GOD! Smoothest action i have ever felt in a bass pedal, by replacing the chain drive with the solid state. Quick Response, Adjustable everything! One of the best things i could have bought for my set!
