As a midlife change for me, no red Porche, I love my wife of 35 yrs, the list things that ache seems to grow, but I've had a good year at work, so am treating myself to the second drum kit of my life. Am testing my friend's rack mounted Tama Starclassic B/B 5 pc kit with wood-rimmed S.L.P. snare as he recovers with a new knee. My first purchase was this dbl kick pedal 2 wks ago. Great versatility, both pedals VERY reactive, so lightweight, long footboards, supports all styles of play. Have been rehearsing with one for 2.5 years, so decided to buy one. Once over the sticker shock (I CAN afford it!), I am pleased with this first piece of hardware. Over time, I will adjust it with the multiple fine tune subtle options that are there. Jimbo at the Brea store was real helpful, great website for Guitar Ctr, free shpg to my store, nice discounts got it into (the high end of) my range. Am VERY happy with this purchase.
it's all that and a bag of chips! playing since '65 (I'm old), started playing on trash can tops, old ones at that!, in south nashville, but folks to keep young drummers coming up after us the technology gets better but the price higher. As i said, I'm old, money no problem, but even I'm not going to pay THAT price for a pair of foot boards. No way, but as I said, I started on a used trash can tops! Been with Pearl since '78, Zildjian since '69, but my wallet since 1955 (birth). ALWAYS give your old set away to a young drummer,ALWAYS. It's your duty. I keep some of my old cymbals, but never the drums. Jusy say'in.......
I've had this pedal for a while now and have had enough time and experience with it to say it's totally worth it. I upgraded from a PDP somethinganother pedal that took a lot of force to get going, this one is different. With a fraction of the force used on the old one I get a louder, more powerful hit. I haven't had to put any real maintenance on it yet, which is good. I kept reading on these and the MF.com reviews that everyone had to constantly keep it up, but a google search said otherwise. In short, it's great. A fast, durable pedal that can work for any one. If you play fast or just don't want to waste energy this is top choice.
First Of All I Want To Touch On The Customer Service Aspect! Small Co And Still Have Time To Chat. Its Not Other Co. Like Well Lets Say I Call The Other Co. T&P I Still Buy There Products But Im Very Dissapointed Wih There Customer Service And Parts Ordering. With Axis If Its A Smaller Part They Have Just Mailed It To Me And Thats After I Shot The S-- T With The Guy Who Makes The Pedal On The Phone For A Half Hour. Ok Enough WIth That.. The Pedal Is Outstanding In All Aspects Except 1 The Hammers And That Can Easily Be Fixed By Walking In GC And Buying 2 DW Beaters. Problem Solved All The Extra Thump You Need. Springs All the Way Tight And VDL A 1/8" From The Bottom So The Pedal Is Spongy And You Will Hit 220bpm By Just Messing Around. Proper Leg Strength And Balance Provided. And They Are Very Accurate Remember the Days Of The Snake When You Could Just Blast Off And Be A Little Sloppy. Not With The Axis Pedal You Better Mean The Stroke You Throw. Dont Get Me Wrong If The Music Is Loud Enough And You Flying You Might Get Away with Skipping A Stroke. So all In All I Love the Axis Longs And I Will Eventually Try The Demons Because They Look Cool As Hell But I Will Buy Them And I Will Figure Out Whether I Like Them Or Not. My Guitar Center Is Pretty Descent With Trade Ins So I Dont Mind. Ohh One Other Thing I Dont Like There Special Order. I Tend To Buy Alot More If I Touch It First.
First Off I Like To Say Is That I Thought This Was Another Gimmick To Sell Drummers To Make More Money. This Is Not The Case This Time. I Was Playing DW9000 Pedals Since The Day They Came Out And That Was 6 Years ago. I Thought Those Were The Best Pedal You Could Use And They Were In till You Reach A Point That You Could Not Surpass. I Did A Lot Of Research On The Axis Long Boards And Everyone Is Right About These That It Does Take A Lot Of Time To Get Use To Them (These Are Unlike Any Other Pedal Out There) But Once You Have It Down You Will Be Amazed Of How Much Better Your Playing Ability Becomes. The Best Thing I Love About This Pedal Is You Can Basically Adjust Every Single Piece On This Pedal Which Makes It That Much More. This Is A Very Very Smooth Pedal and Very Light Weight which Make Your Feet Fly. I Would Recommend This Pedal To Serious Drummers If You Can Afford It Then Buy It-- Another Recommendation Is If You Like Drum Racks And Can afford It Then Buy The Pearl DR-503C ICON 3-Sided Drum Rack with Curved Bars--- Trust Me.
i have had the axis AL-2 longbord double pedals for about two weeks now and i love them. the only problem is that the sonic hammers tend to slip at loud fast volumes and they are easly replaced to make the pedals amazing. the feel of the pedals is great, and the longbord makes it super easy to do heal toe. the pedals are by far the best i have ever played and i would recomend them to anyone who plays fast double bass. thease pedals make it so easy.
I've had these things for the better part of a month now and once you get to used to the feel of the longboards, the sky's the limit. Switching from DW5000's to these feels like I'm playing on air. The only change I'd suggest is getting a pair of Iron Cobra beaters to replace Axis' but these pedals are worth every penny.
i have owned these Axis pedals for some time now and i love them! Everybody that seems them instantly fall in love with them and want to play my drum set. i highly recommend these pedals. they are also great for heel-toe. They have a GREAT response and nothing i have played has even come close. These pedals are worth ever penny.
These pedals are freakin EPIC!!!! Iprefer themfor any drummer of any style but these work best for 300+ BPM for mosts metal drummers
