This beater has been ingeniously designed so that it lets the player adjust his pedal to the "perfect" height, distance, and power. It is weighted very nicely, and provides extra power and speed. The flathead design also gives it a beautiful impact and tone. I love it.
These beaters are very adjustable as other reviewers have stated, but they're not good at all for high speed kicking. These are extremely heavy, and seem like a strange choice to be paired with Axis pedals (they came with my Al-2's). I use my old Iron Cobra felt beaters and they work much, much better overall as far as speed and control.
These beaters are very adjustable as described. Once they are dialed in, you have to crank the nut to keep them from moving on you, and they are quite a bit heavier than my standard beaters, so I noticed they make me a tad slower. I'm use to my rubber beater, so I don't get the punch i'm looking for with the felt. The upsides are the adjustability, able to set where ever your heart desires. Also like that all you have to relace is a stick on felt, and not the whole beater, or head assembly. The downside is they seem heavier than normal beaters, and takes a few tries to get it adjusted to wear you want it. Wouldn't really recomend for new players.
