I tried to like this clutch for 2 yr.s- finally I saw the light- it's an over designed piece of crap-- virtually every one of the threaded components are subject to working loose due to vibration when playing - and I'm not a heavy hitter-small sticks low to medium volume- and there I would be with the top cymbal just dropping unexpectedly or one of the million little cymbal tilt adjusters completely unscrewing itself- don't bother, just walk right by this one and get a cheaper one that WORKS- you 'll be so happy you did!
This is about the most complicated piece of hardware on my set but it is completely awesome. It doesn't use the conventional felt washers at all but has replaced them with a semi-hard plastic domed nut that holds the top hat very securely but also allows it to resonate very nicely. There are adjustment screws on the top to change the angle of the top hat which would help those with stilting hat stands. Absolutely worth the cost because I don't think I'll ever have to replace it. I just wish it came with instructions.
