I traded in my DW 9000 single pedal for this one and have not looked back. This pedal is smooth and gives a very solid attack on the kick, I play rock music and this pedal is great. It does have a differnat feel from chain drive pedals but once you get used to it you can really play anything you played on the chain pedal on this one but faster and with more attack
Ive been playing with these pedals for a month or so and im impressed by the responsiveness and speed due to the direct drive and very lightweight design. I previously played Iron Cobra PG which are a great pedal but they felt like bricks and laggy when trying to play fast. The Axis pedals take a bit getting use to and have a far different feel then conventional chain drive pedals but payoff once u get past the learning curve. If you are into extreme playing such as death metal these are great, as they have a unique triggering kit called the e-kit that is a very responsive stand-alone component versus unreliable pad style triggers. The 'Longboard' design helps playing the heel-toe method easier and more evenly expressed, although heel toe can be played on any pedal (may make easier for people with big feet as well). Overall a great pedal for the money!
This pedal does exactly what you tell it to do. The direct drive mechanism means there is no lag time, very little give, it just follows exactly what your foot does. And there's no loss in power from your foot to the batter head. I've had it for about 3 weeks now, and it's probably the best drum equip purchase I've made in a few years. Also, for those with big feet like me (size 12) this pedal gives you an extra inch or so, and really makes a difference. I wish I bought this pedal years ago. My kick drum precision is seriously improved, and it feels great.
