First off I would like to say don't use Mbox Mni 3 for PC, go get a Mac if you don't have one already. It gives you issues trying to recording. Other than that go get it. It's good for any home studio, gives good quality.
I've been dying to try pro tools for quite sometime, but i've been using sonar as my daw for the last 4 years. I recently replaced my presonus audiobox with the mbox mini and right away there are quite a few differences between the two. The mbox has a louder output to my monitors (bx5a's) and records at a louder level with way less noise than the audiobox. For it to be 24/48k the sound quality is much better than I expected it to be. The speaker/mute button in the front is a great feature because you dont have to turn the monitors down or mess with the mix knob when you record/monitor in the same room. Another plus are 2 DI on the back of the interface and one doubles as a line input for connecting outboard gear like your preamp or effects processor. The mbox mini is a great way to become a pro tools user plus it has more features than most of the 24/48k interfaces have. Oh yeah, and as an end note, I use windows vista sp2 and have had no problems with installation or use of the mbox and pro tools.
To keep it short and simple the Mbox clips alot!!! and is very high quality when recording synthesizer with silver 1/4 cables
