Best Stereo Compressor

I've used a ton of compressors but for stereo sources the Avalon VT-747 is my favorite. Switches quickly from clean Class A solid-state to a warm tube sound at the push of a button. Your mixes will come to life when run through the 747. It is also great on keyboards, stereo guitar processors, drum machines, and even makes samplers sound "bigger." Run the stereo outs from your electronic drum kit though a VT-747 to give them more life. Finally, I have found the 747 to be a very useful tool for mastering; its 32khz slider can add substantial "air" opening up dull mixes and giving them new life. Try one - you will be impressed!

A clear compressor that does not compromise

I have never been a big fan of over compressed music but I decided to use this unit in my friends studio anyway. The unit did a very good job, especialy on Bass guitar. The compressor does an excellent job if you need to use suttle compression on vocals. I even tried to use the unit on a keyboard and I had decent results. I would not say that this unit is the best compressor I have ever used but it is definitly on of the best I have used in its price range!
