I would have given this 5 stars if it were more affordable. Great quality foam with fire-retardant chemical baked right in (no spray) but the only mounting option that comes in this kit is permanent. In other words, installing this with the included "TubeTak Pro" is going to absolutely destroy your existing walls. This is okay for permanent installations, but much less desirable for home studios. A semi-permanent mounting option is available - BUT FOR SEPARATE PURCHASE (yet more $$$). While the quality is good, the price of this foam is prohibitive. If you shop around you won't find a much better deal on Auralex than here on Guitar Center, so it is just over-priced in general everywhere. Even tiny spaces are going to need A LOT of this stuff and the price adds up dramatically fast. Yes it has been chemically treated, but otherwise we are talking about plain old super light-weight FOAM here folks. I set up over $400 worth of Auralex foam in my very small studio and it was no where near enough to get the full benefit. Likely I will need to spend 3-4x more to get the coverage I really need to make it most effective. In conclusion: Auralex foam is a great product and works as advertised. However, you should think again if you think you'll be able to get away with DIY acoustic-proofing using this product for less than $1000. (because I promiss you'll need more than they claim you do, even for a tiny studio). And this kit won't help you at all unless you are doing a permanent installation and don't mind that if you ever need to take it off, your walls will be utterly annihilated. Hope this helps.
This kit is a tremendous value. I bought 2 of them and was able to make a huge difference in the sound of my Home studio where I often start mixes on ProTools before taking them to the studio to finish. Bass nulls were greatly reduced and echo flutter and "roominess" were reduced to very acceptable levels. It Is still not up to my Berger designed control room at the studio, but I was able to make it sound much more accurate for a very modest budget.
