The Audix TM1 is a 6mm pre-polarized condenser microphone used for test and measurement applications. The TM1 mic is known for its linearity, accurate response, consistency, ease of use, and affordability.
Characterized with a uniformly controlled omnidirectional polar pattern, the Audix TM1 mic is designed to capture acoustic measurements for room analysis software programs, realtime analyzers and other sound control devices. With an extremely flat frequency range of 20Hz - 25kHz, the TM1 is an excellent condenser mic for sound engineers, sound companies, and recording enthusiasts.
Requiring 18 - 52 Volts of phantom power for operation, this Audix mic features a precision machined 4-stage brass body and capsule housing, nickel-plate finish, Switchcraft XLR, shock absorbent O-rings, and heavy duty snap to fit mic clip.

Comments about Audix TM1 Test and Measurement Mic:
I purchased three of these microphones with matching windscreens for use in a Decca Tree recording situation. Of the three one had a bad circuit board which Audix replaced immediately. Over time I started noticing what seemed like higher levels of self noise & degrading performance that I have never experienced with another microphone. I have used these mics in a wide variety of field recording situations including drums, acoustic guitar, piano, & orchestral strings. The reason I purchased these mics is because they are accurate small diaphragm omni mics at a reasonable price. They have a very clear sound without any coloration & this can be quite nice depending on the circumstances. The wind screen design is probably the best aspect of this model -- it screws on tight & works perfectly. The TM1 is a finicky model & when they want to work, they are good but after two months of use I can say the self noise is too high for my purposes. After another of the original three I purchased developed a capacitance issue it started popping randomly while in use. I sent it to Audix for repair & they returned it within a couple weeks with notes on how it was repaired. After testing it in the field, it was evident to me that there was no repair & the issue was still present. Overall, Audix's customer service is really good but I do not think this is a quality product. I have written reviews for several microphones & have yet to have any comparable quality issues. If you need a clear-sounding small diaphragm omnidirectional mic I would recommend saving up some more cash & purchasing a Shure KSM141. If you are in a total rush & need something inexpensive that will work, grab a DBX RTAM. I have used other Audix products in the past but I would not purchase the TM1 again.
