Overview

Designed, assembled and tested in Wilsonville, Oregon, the OM2 is a dynamic vocal microphone used for a wide variety of live, home and studio applications. The OM2 utilizes a tight, uniform pattern, which helps isolate vocals from the other instruments on stage. This provides outstanding feedback rejection and allows vocals to cut through the mix.

Designed with a slight bass proximity and a tailored mid-range, the OM2 has a full-bodied sound on small to mid-sized PA systems while retaining true sound on large or professional PA systems.

With a wide frequency range of 50 Hz - 16 kHz, the OM2 employs a VLM diaphragm for a clear, precise sound with exceptional voice response. The OM2 is manufactured with a precision die cast zinc alloy body, beautiful black E-coat finish, and durable spring steel mesh grill to provide years of rock solid reliability. Includes heavy-duty nylon clip and carrying pouch.

Features
  • Excellent isolation for maximum feedback rejection, helping vocals cut through the mix

I'm a singer for a hardrock band. I had the opportunity to use this mic recently for an acoustic show down in Portland, and I must say, I was excited to give it a spin. I'd always heard great things about Audix, although I'm a faithful Sennheiser man, myself.A few songs into the set, I noticed a rather stupid amount of feed back. I was facing the monitors, and I still got feedback, in a quiet, acoustic setting! Kind of ugly.A bit of eq adjustment, however, and we were running. This mic must have a crazy hot output to be getting such squeal in such a quiet setting. It was probably meant to be more of a workhorse for the loud, workingman jam-band.For my purposes, I wasn't digging it. I would take my sennheiser e835 over this humdoggy any day. But I would love to check out the om5, as I've heard amazing things about it.However, if you want an amazing mic at the same price as this here, go to SENNHEISER E835. You will not be disappointed!

    Comments about Audix OM2 Microphone:

I have used this mic for over 20 years, from a five piece covering metal and classic rock, to singing Sinatra and martini club music. It is a tank, takes a beating, handles tons of pressure, and as crisp and clear as the day I got it. It has been stored in a soft case, in a gig bag, dropped numerous times, rained on, beverages spilled on it, bouncin around in my trunk...never had a problem with it...ever! USA made, and a better product all around than the sm 58 for same price...imho.

I have been using Audix mic's for around 6 years for all my musical projects. All of which are some form of metal. From vocals to instrument mic's, Audix does a wonderful job with good, clear quality sound. Best microphone for it's price.

        Comments about Audix OM2 Microphone:

Bought my first Audix OM2 as the stupid deal of the day. Should have been marked SMART Deal of the Day! Incredible mic for the price paid! just ordered my second one. This mic gives great crisp and clear vocals with higher pressure levels than my SM 58s ever could before feedback. A great all American mic made in the USA!!!

          Comments about Audix OM2 Microphone:

For the price, this is a great mike! Feels good in your hand. Sounds great. And has a real solid weight/feel to it. Had some success with Audix over the past few years. These OM2's seem like they will add to it.

            Comments about Audix OM2 Microphone:

I purchased this mic because I needed a backup mic while waiting for my Heil PR-22 to get repaired. I didn't want to spend a lot on another vocal mic, but since I play and sing in several groups, I could not get a low quality vocal mic. I also never really liked the sound and response of the tried-and-true SM58, and I prefer a hypercardiod pattern to better isolate my vocals. This mic seemed to fit my criteria, and came well recommended after reading many reviews. While it is no Heil large-diameter capsule mic, it is darn near close! I experienced great reproduction, with my vocals absolutely cutting thru the mix during an open mic night with my 4-pc acoustic-electric group. The OM2 also helped bring out my vocals with my 8-pc soul band, including cutting thru and above the horn section. All without a hint of feedback or bleedover. Although it does exhibit a bit of handling noise compared to my Heil and my ElectroVoice N/D's, it also costs much less, so I'd say it's a fair tradeoff. At this pricepoint, I can't see how anyone could go wrong having this mic in their locker. I know I will definitely recommend this one to all my musician friends with confidence.

            Comments about Audix OM2 Microphone:

I've been using this mic for about a year now with no problem. I've gotten my other vocalist to switch over we love them. They can handle both inhale and exhale screams, sequels and pretty much anything you can through at it. definitely built for with the lower range in mind, but it can pick up my highs just as easy. Definitely something to look into especially for the price.

            Excellent Microphone!

            By Daniel Dockery _ _

            from Fort Collins, CO

            Comments about Audix OM2 Microphone:

Very smooth microphone the suits my deeper voice well. I have always found the Shure SM58 to be a bit boomy and I don't get this with the OM2. Female vocalist will probably not like this mic as it doesn't enhance the low end like a SM58. Very well built, less feedback live for sure, and made in the USA. Shure can't say that!

              Comments about Audix OM2 Microphone:

Been using an SM58 for years and even though that is a great mic I have to say that when switching to the OM2, I lost alot of the muddiness and I was able to pull out alot of the mids to acheive a very lifelike reproduction of my voice. I sing through a Bose L1 system and I now feel that my vocal sound is complete.

              Comments about Audix OM2 Microphone:

Picked up a couple of these for a sound system based on recommendation by the salesman at GC. First off, they are American made. I wish that was enough but for discerning listeners, your gonna need performance as a criteria for supporting a product as proficient. These mics perform GREAT. We play a more contemporary with an edge style of music so how these would be for screamers, etc. I have no idea. The fact that they are hypercardiod menas your gonna need the mic in front of you, can't be singing like a gangsta with the mic at all different angles to your mouth. These will pick up handling noise as well but for our style that is not a problem. If you are a musician and gonna have it in a stand anyway- excellent- no reason to be concerned. If being handled just realize that the more you move it around hand to hand, etc. it might, MIGHT not WILL, pick some of that up. Have had NO feedback issues yet and clarity of voice is spot on.
