I have a collection of vintage microphones that I bought back in the 1970s, and several of the mic clips have been lost or broken. These Audix D-Clip replacements have turned out to be better than the original clips in all cases. I use them for these microphones: AKG C-451, C-452, D-190, Electrovoice RE-11, RE-15, and Neumann KM-84.

One of the best features of the clips is the knob that allows you to tighten the clip in the desired position without it drooping. The original clips either needed a tool to tighten a slotted screw head or had no means of tightening at all. I also like how Audix included a little bit of instruction, mentioning that the mic's are meant to be snapped into position rather than slipped in from the end. I would've been afraid of breaking the clip otherwise, but they seem to be durable enough for this action.

These are simple devices that just seem to work as intended. We'll see how they hold up over time, but for now, I'm planning on buying more to replace all of my old clips.

OK, if you're reading this you probably already know what it's for and you'll buy one because you need it. But just to clear up any confusion, this mic clip is for certain Audix mics only! If you're looking for a mic for a Shure SM57, Nady Starpower, or pretty much anything else, this is not what you are looking for. It will not fit. For some reason that escapes me, Audix designed certain mics with a narrow neck that requires this specialized mic clip. I use this for my Audix D6. To the best of my knowledge, there is no alternative mic clip that will work with this mic.

As for the clip itself, they have improved the design. I purchased one about 5 years ago, and I recently purchased another when I stepped on the original and it broke. The thumbscrew and the c-clip have been been improved from the original design. It still seems much more stiff than a typical mic clip that has some flex to it, so be careful not to leave it on the floor like I did - you will probably break it.

Bottom line: this thing is overpriced, but if you have an Audix mic that needs this, then you need it. So just buy it already.

The mic clips are exactly what I needed. My only (miniscule) problem with them was that they arrived in a huge box - way over the top packaging :)

Comments about Audix D-Clip Narrow Body Mic Clip:

I used this clip to replace the EV311 clip. It is cheaper and also tougher than that clip. It can be used on any CYLINDRICAL shaped mic that has a diameter of roughly 19mm (3/4 inch).

Bought as needed clip for 2nd hand Audix D6 mic. You kinda hafta have this for these mics as there really aren't any 3rd party clips that will work in its place (In a pinch, I was able to use the clip for my vintage EV RE18 mic, but good luck finding one of those!). It's a very tight fit though, so be careful not to break it!

This mic clip is only usable with the smaller Audix narrow body mics. IF you have a SM58/57 or some other larger mic, don't buy this product expecting it to fit.
