Overview

The Audio-Technica ATW-251 Freeway VHF UniPak Wireless System is designed to provide reliable performance, easy setup and clear, natural sound quality. The Freeway VHF Lavalier Wireless System includes the ATW-R250 receiver, and the ATW-T201 body-pack transmitter. A novel dipole antenna system on the receiver improves operation by providing a ground element in addition to the usual signal element.

ATW-R250 receiver
The ATW-R250 receiver includes a space-saving switching power supply that automatically adapts to changes in mains voltage. Unlike bulky linear power supplies, this switching power supply is lightweight and compact; it uses only a single outlet space.

ATW-T201 UniPak transmitter
The versatile ATW-T201 UniPak body-pack transmitter has both a high-impedance input for instruments, and a low-impedance input with bias connection for use with dynamic and electret condenser microphones. A cable for connecting your source to the transmitter is not included because this UniPak version can be used with a variety of sources.

Consumer Alert:

Most users do not need a license to operate this wireless microphone system. Nevertheless, operating this microphone system without a license is subject to certain restrictions: the system may not cause harmful interference; it must operate at a low power level (not in excess of 50 milliwatts); and it has no protection from interference received from any other device. Purchasers should also be aware that the FCC is currently evaluating use of wireless microphone systems, and these rules are subject to change. For more information, call the FCC at 1-888-CALL-FCC (TTY: 1-888-TELL-FCC) or visit the FCCs wireless microphone website at: www.fcc.gov/cgb/wirelessmicrophones.

i got this a few months ago and i use it to play guitar and bass for a very well known local band. it is very touchy about sound but thats kind of a good thing and a bad thing at the same time. it picks up everything but then you have to be careful about making squeaky noises. it alters your sound a little but with an adjustment of your EQ it sounds perfectly fine. when i got it i hooked it up in my studio and went through the 1 inch thick glass sliding door through the house and out the front door shut it and came back and the person said there was no cutting out or anything. i love this thing. sometimes it gives me to much freedom and i don't know what to do with myself. if your on a budget like me i would recommend this to anyone. i saw the band Asking alexandria a couple weeks ago and they all use this system (they are from the uk). so you know its good! BUY THIS RIGHT NOW!!!! haha

I use a 6505+ and set my settings on the wireless not in the middle of the gate or whatever it is, but closer to the minimum side to reduce squeaks, but in return you lose tone. This was never an issue when i first started using it but for whatever reason the system started to not be able to handle it when there wasnt any sound from the guitar traveling through the frequency. It just obnoxiously squeaks. And it kills me to have to close the gate on the sound because i lose so much tone and it basically sounds like mud. I have yet to find another metal/hardcore music review for this system and i can understand why now...like in previous reviews it says that the system is terrific for church speakers and more then likely for blues/jazz guitars..but as for any gain i dont recommend.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATW-251 Freeway VHF UniPak Wireless System:

purchased thinking it came with guitar cable. Even returned the first one. phone rep was surprised there was no cable. The transmitter must have a G in the product number to come with a guitar cable. The cable is terribly overpriced. It's inadequate for the expense. So much for a deal on a transmitter system.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATW-251 Freeway VHF UniPak Wireless System:

The cord that goes between the instrument and the transmitter was not included. When it arrived--I ordered one--it was made by Audio Technica and was labeled "wireless essentials". If so, it should have been included.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATW-251 Freeway VHF UniPak Wireless System:

This unit was clearly marked as reconditioned, so there were no surprises there. Using this with bass, and have experienced some minor interference. This appears to be avoidable by antenna placement, as well as avoiding the spots where interference occurs (most likely some specific electronic interference in my house, because it always occurs in the same couple spots). For the price, you will find nothing better.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATW-251 Freeway VHF UniPak Wireless System:

Excellent system! I bought two of these units and use them for remote speakers as a mobile DJ. The sound is crisp even at long distances. I have used these every weekend for the past 1.5 years and have had no dropouts or interference. We use them mainly for wedding receptions to cover each "corner" of the room and they hold up well. This past weekend we used them for an outdoor event and the unit was placed 3 blocks away and sounded perfect! I will be ordering another set for the rest of our mobile units! I highly recommend this product. NOTE: You have to buy the Audio Technica adapter (XLR, Lav. Mic, guitar input) as it does not come with one. Great product, buy it you won't be disappointed!

This unit needs an additional thirty dol lar cable that was not recommended in the description. It would be nice to know before ordering. Grandson is saving his money to purchase the cable so he can use the unit.

Im just confused..... It was supposed to be a NEW unit...but It came UPS... and it is a RECONDITIONED UNIT .... The box doesnt even match the unit.... and has multiple labels on it.... I didnt pay for a "RECONDITIONED UNIT" and expected better from Musician's Friend ... Considering that I have been dealing with them for many, many years.... 20+ to be exact.... Dissappointed.... and to boot I had to order a seperate Cable to even use it.... Still havent hooked up yet...and expecting the worse....
