I've just recently purchased Audio-Technica ATH-M45 Studio Monitor Headphones and the sound is that you get from them is unbelievable. I do a lot of mastering and these guys are exactly what I needed for late night mixing/mastering. They don't hold back any sound or quality from your recording or production. Great buy. Do it...Do it now.

I bought my 1st set of these phones over 10 years ago. I loved the way they sounded in the studio, and they gave decent isolation to allow me to track with them (I'm a drummer). But I was constantly dealing with a strange issue, where the sound would go out on 1 ear from time to time. It wasn't the cable best I could tell, there was no real reason. I just thought they were getting old, so I bought a new set about 6 months ago. Well... having the exact same issue with the new pair, they just randomly decide to work in only 1 ear. Really sorry I bought a 2nd set and cannot recommed them to anybody. I'm putting these in the Goodwill box and picking up a set of Sennheiser HD 280 Pro. I've never had a single Sennheiser product let me down. Check for a review on the new phones in a few weeks!

Clean, even sound

By Chris Catalano

from Holtsville, NY

I bought these on a whim as a trusted pair of AKGs had just bitten the dust and these were in the current sales flyer at a good price. At first listen I was impressed with clarity and even reproduction across the entire frequency range of my source material. There's a decent amount of isolation (not complete) and the bass extension is pretty good as well. I would feel comfortable doing a rough mix on these. One concern is the material used for the wrap on the foam part of the ear piece. I've had problems with this type of material on other headphones starting to disintegrate after a short time. You'll look in the mirror after using them for a while and see little pieces of black on your ears. Hopefully AT has improved on this material compared to other manufacturers. Time will tell.

Good mixing headphones

By Randal Kamradt

from Tacoma

Great for the budget studio, comfortable enough for those long mixing session when you have to tweak over and over. The only complaint I have is the cable seems thin and might be easy to break. It hasn't so far, but I feel I must treat it with extra care.

Just Amazing, but.....

By Dean

from St Louis MO

OK, so I just got these from Guitar Center here at St Louis. Been using them for the past 3 days and I gotta say that these are the best headphones I ever bought for Mixing and Mastering. I was just surprised by the sound quality and the isolation. Only one thing I didn't like is the 2 wires that are visible as you can see on the product image above, but as far as everything else, I gave it 5/5.

Absolute clear definition

By Todd Burns

from Mobile, AL

When you first hear the music through these you come to understand the meaning of clarity and definition. The sound separation and tone of each musical element in 3D and HD clarity. The flat response brings total control of your mix, or your tone. I use these for tone setup on my guitar with my Pod HD500 and for live monitoring in our church worship band. Just outstanding!

Great Buy

By Anne J.

from Los Angeles, CA

I really am impressed with these headphones. A very flat, pure sound for mixing. The fit is great, and there is very little outside sound. Great buy.

GREAT MIXING/EDITING HEADPHONES

By S3Q of Rhyme Sinista Records

from Howell,MI

These are great headphones for the price, for doing editing and mixing work in the studio. Great flat and clear response, making it accurate for finding errors with in your recording. Not recommended for everyday audio listening use (iPod, ect..), these are strictly studio monitoring headphones.

VERY NICE!

By Luke

from West Chicago, IL

First thing you need to know before you buy these is that without any EQ these headphones are very flat. But thats how they need to be for mastering and mixing! If you want to listen to music with these then play with the EQ and youll be very impressed!!! I couldnt believe how clear these were! I can hear everything in a dong and so much more. I recommend you as long as you can afford them!!!

Good stuff

By LlamaJockey

from Dallas, TX

When I first got these I plugged them into my Ipod just out of curiosity.. gotta say I wasn't all that impressed. It certainly didn't sound bad, but it was more 'flat' I guess is the word- which can be negative to a audiophile bass freak like me when I just wanna listen to music. But I got these home and hooked them up to my keyboard and guitar and was blown away! Great sound, very comfortable, very convenient, very accurate. I have them hooked up to my computer right now, and after some EQ tweaking on my sound card, I think I'm in audio heaven.... If you do recording and need to hear everything on a budget, these are for you. If you're an avid musician or just music enthusiast who likes tweaking his sound- these are for you. They're worth it.
