I've owned these headphones for a good 3 years now, and they sound the same as the day I bought them. They've been kicked, dropped, stepped on, and rolled over by computer chairs and they're still kicking! These phones a very light and comfortable, which is particularly good for long studio hours... no ear fatigue either. The "superior isolation" is a bit over-exaggerated, but still pretty decent. It would be much better if the cups were larger and completely covered the ears. I wouldn't call the sound quality the best for any major mixing or mastering, but they do extremely well for tracking and playback. If you're on a budget or just starting out in the recording field and need something close, these will work fairly well. If you're looking to mix strictly on headphones I'd suggest spending a little extra money on some better quality phones. Personally, I mix mostly with near-field monitors, and I use the Audio Technica ATH-M50 Headphones for monitoring mixes late at night, or when my baby's asleep. Of course they're not what some would called the "BEST", but that's strictly personal preference. For a project studio they work excellent. Read the reviews and see what everyone else thinks. PEACE!

I ordered these headphones on November 23 during GC's Black Friday promotion. Today (December 9) Guitar Center's endless emails asked me to review them, even though I don't have them yet -- indeed I was told yesterday that GC hadn't even received the shipment from which they will eventually (I hope) ship my order. You'd think they would stock up on an item featured in a Black Friday promotion - but no, I learned they didn't even order them until about December 4. Oh, and about Guitar Center's emails: You'll notice that they don't have an unsubscribe link, just a light grey on white "Manage Your Subscription" link that's almost impossible to find. And when you click this link, you are forced to type in a complete address and phone number before you can do anything else! - and of course by default they check the boxes for all possible email subscriptions. I tried to opt out by phone ... but kept getting emails anyway. When I called about this, I was told that "it takes 10 days to be removed from the email list". (Why, in 2012, would it take 10 days?) Oh, and the stores have a separate system, so if you opt out online you will still get emails from the other system. These headphones might be good, but I wouldn't order them again from Guitar Center. GC is so aggressive, or maybe disorganized about email promotion that they are operating on the very edge of what's legal, and are surely pissing off customers, like me.

Amazing

By Nathan Mitchell

from Minnesota

I got these as a gift and had them for a few years now. So I can honestly say that these could compete against some of the more top of the line products. Just wish they came with a shorter cable ( I could literally do jumpropes with the length of the cable). The only down side to it is that if you are planing to use it for your media device, it may or may not fit with the case that you have on it. Just take note of that. Overall this a great set for a really good price. Several of my friends agree as well.

Very nice headphones for low cost.

By Tony dedios

from Hollister ca

I was pleasantly suprised how nice this headphone set is. I recently purchased electro harmonix headphone amp and didn't have over ear headphones. these two products work very well together. Now I can jam wherever and whenever I want with out disturbing anyone except myself. The only knock on the ath-m30 is that they don't really cancel noise well. They do sound great and are very comfortable. Very nice pair of inexpensive headphones and they do have a nice long cable.

Good price and workmanship, average sound quality

By JOSEPH PETRINO

from NYC

I had these for a year now. They are very comfortable and I can wear them for hours with no problem. They have held up well to many hours of use and the padding is still in perfect condition. The sound quality is average at best. You will not be wowed. If sound quality is important to you keep looking, these are not the headphones for you.

AMAZING ACCURACY - believe it!

By KimAyrieMorris

from Tempe, AZ

OK, I read the less-than-five-star reviews here and was skeptical when I went to my local Guitar Center to try out headphones. Well, I was shown Shure, Sennheiser, Roland, and a bunch of others. I wanted to stay around $100. Then, the sales associate handed me these ATH-M30s...well, it was all over I couldn't believe how downright accurate they were! I brought my own CD mixes as a barometer. Glad I did. Every other brand paled in comparison. Now, I'm a Behringer Studio Monitor fan- so I like the balance of full frequency range. These A-T's sound EXACTLY like my Truth 1030s at home! Needless to say, I spent the bucks, But, now, as I write this and playback the mixes I did today...Wow! I'm a believer. Go try 'em for yourself. Just remember, if you are not one for super even frequencies, not top or bottom heavy, you may not like these. However, I wouldn't trust the accuracy of your mix or master with other than phones like these A-T's

Good Price Headphones

By Gary R

from Pittsburgh

The sound quality is good but ear cushions are too small and tend to fall sideways off ears. Also have Sennheiser 280 Pro which are better quality.

They Fooled Me

By Supergeniusjohn

from Dallas, TX

These headphones look and feel SWEET! - but - they sound very bad. I really like the construction and design but I returned them after letting several friends try them out and they all agreed. The bass is boxy without a real low end and doesn't roll well into the noisy midrange. The treble... well, lets just say I didn't hear any. I plugged these into my guitar amp and I knew they must be returned. They might be good for the "DJ Booth" but if you really want to listen to music then look else ware.

By Jake

This are good head phones for a good price. So if you need some head phones get this. There good they have trs outputs (the same as a guitar cord) the only thing is it dont have volume control for each ear. But they have a very good sound.
