CONSUMER ALERT

Most users do not need a license to operate this wireless microphone system. Nevertheless, operating this microphone system without a license is subject to certain restrictions: the system may not cause harmful interference; it must operate at a low power level (not in excess of 50 milliwatts); and it has no protection from interference received from any other device. Purchasers should also be aware that the FCC is currently evaluating use of wireless microphone systems, and these rules are subject to change. For more information, call the FCC at 1-888-CALL-FCC (TTY: 1-888-TELL-FCC) or visit the FCCs wireless microphone website at http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/wirelessmicrophones.

Very affordable and very good.

The Audio-Technica ATW-251 Freeway VHF Headworn Wireless System is designed to provide reliable performance, easy setup and clear, natural sound quality. The Freeway Wireless Microphone System includes the ATW-R250 receiver, the ATW-T201 body-pack transmitter, and the PRO 8HEcW hands free microphone. A novel dipole antenna system on the receiver improves operation by providing a ground element in addition to the usual signal element.

ATW-R250 receiver

The ATW-R250 receiver includes a space-saving switching power supply that automatically adapts to changes in mains voltage. Unlike bulky linear power supplies, this switching power supply is lightweight and compact; it uses only a single outlet space.

ATW-T201 UniPak body-pack transmitter

The versatile ATW-T201 UniPak body-pack transmitter has both a high-impedance input for instruments, and a low-impedance input with bias connection for use with dynamic and electret condenser microphones. The ATW-T201 uses internal 9-volt batteries and has an Off/Standby/On switch, input Trim (level) adjustment, and battery-save switch.

PRO 8HEcW headworn microphone

Offering highly intelligible individual voice reproduction, the comfortable, lightweight PRO 8HEcW headworn microphone is ideal for guitarists, keyboard players, drummers and others who need the use of their hands during performance. Its low-visibility headband and cushioned support pads provide a stable, comfortable fit. Designed for professional quality vocal pickup with hands free operation, the PRO 8HEcW features a pivot-mounted flexible mic boom that descends from either the left or right side. Terminated with a locking 4-pin connector for the Audio Technica A-T UniPak body-pack wireless transmitters. The PRO 8HEcW has a 55" (1.4 m) cable and includes a windscreen.

With our Guaranteed Lowest Price, you can be assured of complete satisfaction and the lowest available price, or your money back!

  • Wireless on a budget

As reviewed by Luke on 6/7/2010

I've played through a few different wireless systems, mostly ones under $100, and they've all just quit working. This is the first 'budget' wireless system that has worked continuously well for me. Using it at company meetings is great because it frees up your hands to do powerpoints or run other kinds of multimedia stuff while still talking to a group.

  • No meat to the mic

As reviewed by Bruce on 5/17/2011

Guitar Center Customer Service has always been great and I love doing business with these folks. This microphone itself was a disappointment. With the gain dimed at the transmitter, receiver and the sound board it still only gave a marginal signal, not strong enough to keep up with the rest of the band. Just practicing with headphones it sounded very tinny and thin, about one step better than singing through a telephone.

  • Freeways are great, but NEVER pay for expedited shipping from GC online.

As reviewed by KH on 6/24/2010

Paid for Next Day delivery so it would be delivered on a Friday afternoon. GC didn't ship it on time, so I didn't receive it when I paid to receive it. Since i needed it Friday (was leaving Monday morning, needed it to take to a camp) I had to drive to a neighboring city to find a GC store to purchase something different, which ended up costing me double. Called GC online, and their response was that even though I paid for Next Day shipping, they like to hold off for a day to make sure they get their money first. My response was that less than 2 hours after placing the order they had deducted the money from my account, then that same day sent me an email stating that my package had shipped. His response, well, was less than satisfactory. Rather than try to make it right, he told me to refuse the package so it would be returned. So, now I'm out the cost of the Next Day shipping. I will never order from GC online again after this experience. I'll drive to a store first. will cost me less in gas than to go through this with shipping again. If you can't or won't ship when the customer pays for it, then don't advertise it that way. I've been told (by a GC store employee) these systems are great for simple applications, but that since they're VHF they may be more susceptible to interference. Have no direct experience with this particular unit, but have used Freeways in the past and they work well. If you're looking for an inexpensive wireless they're not bad. Just know that if you pay for expedited shipping, you won't get it when you expect or pay for.
