First heard in the 427 Small Block, Ashdown’s Dual Tube bass preamp was an instant hit, thanks to its solid, articulate bottom end and sparkling highs. The 330W Ashdown 330 Touring 115H takes this stunning tube preamp design and partners it with an uprated and tour proven MAG power stage, delivering the payload via a custom 15” driver with an HF horn for extended top end response.
The discerning bass player gets high and low gain inputs, front panel-mounted FX send and return, rotary bass, middle and treble controls with mid shift, bass shift and bright switching, mute switch, rotary gain and master volume controls and a DI output.
Retro cabinet styling features vinyl covering, chrome protective corners, vintage red grille cloth and, of course, the trademark illuminated Ashdown VU meter.

Feature wise this amp doesn't quite have the versatility of the Ashdown ABM series, but the inclusion of 2 tubes (ECC83,ECC82) in the preamp provide a warmth that you can't quite get out of a solid state amplifier. The amp starts with a relatively standard 3 band parametric eq; bass, middle, treble. It adds both a bass shift and mid shift which acts almost like a boost for each frequency respectively as well as a bright switch. The gain knob acts as the input volume but also controls the amount of voltage that is headed toward the preamp tubes, turning the gain knob to right around 1 o'clock will start to get you a little bit of natural tube saturation and breakup. There is also a mute switch, pre/post switch (which controls whether the built in D.I. is pre or post eq) and front facing effects loop. The 15 inch speaker reacts really well offering booming lows as well as providing suitable highs and mids. The cabinet is constructed of birch plywood and though a little on the heavy side (the combo weighs in at 76lbs) this is a really solid amp. The only downside I've found is that it's not quite as loud as I had expected. I do plan on adding an extension cabinet at some point to push a little more volume. All in all this is a really solid amp for the working musician, Highly Recommended.
