Overview

The new Arturia MicroBrute is the next generation of the Brute family of synthesizers. The little brother of the award winning, modern classic: MiniBrute. The MicroBrute is smaller in size but retains the pure analog sound, the famed Steiner-Parker filter as well as Arturia's multiple wave oscillator with wave-shapers. No shortcuts were taken in making sure that the MicroBrute sound stands up to any analog synth on the market.

New Features
Step sequencer: Arturia has added a new step sequencer for generating patterns. This easy-to-us step sequencer is reminiscent of sequencers found on the Sequential Circuits Pro One as well as the rare and classic Oberheim DS-2a.

Updated Sub-oscillator: The new sub-oscillator allows for adding an octave down as well as the ability to mix in a 5th up harmonic. This allows this single oscillator synth to sound like a monster with multiple oscillators.

Mod Matrix: The Mod Matrix patchbay allows you to route 3 modulation sources, ENV, LFO and Keyboard CV (on the rear panel) to any of 6 modulation destinations. This semi modular capability allows for many sound-making capabilities.

The MicroBrute is the smallest and most powerful analog synth on the market and it promises to set a new standard for analog synth sound and price.

Comments about Arturia Microbrute Analog Synthesizer:

I scored a used MB from GC for about 1/2 price. This is an amazing little synth, even at full price. I have an DSI X4, and use the MB for leads and the X4 for chords and drones. It is easy to dial in the sounds, and then modify them as you play. The small KB is actually quite nice, as the MB is essential a mono module with a small KB. The sequencer is sweet too, you do need to set this up with the free software, which also accesses a few other settings. I have mainly be doing Pink Floyd, Eno and Bowie stuff, and now TD. I would say this is a must have analog synth. I did only get one patch cable. but this is OK because I am going to solder up two cables with 3 outputs each, and get some more crazy patches out of the small patch bay.

Comments about Arturia Microbrute Analog Synthesizer:

I love this synth so much. I've take it on the plane, used it on the studio and used it live. One of the things that I love is that it doesn't store presets. It forces you to be creative and start experimenting with sonds and tweak every single knob. It's so much fun. I sequence a lot and I use this and my Sub Phatty on every single track I do. You can not get the sound that this synth offers you from a VST. It will change the way that your leads cut on a track.

Great value for a real analog synth with lots of features

      By Andrew Currie

      from Northern Virgina

Comments about Arturia Microbrute Analog Synthesizer:

Pros: Real analog sound path Sync in and out, MIDI in ports Single oscillator peoduces multiple waveforms for a variety of sounds Great filter Built-in LFO and sequencer Mini-patch panel Small, lightwright size Cons: Sequencer runs on 8th notes from gate in; must work around to double speed it Requires USB interface with computer and Arturia's free downloadable software to control certain configurations This is a great, rich-sounding machine that gets that great 70s vibe. It is well-made, compact, and lightweight, and will fit into a laptop bag easily. Since taking it out of the box I have been late for work multiple times due to staying up late with it. The only annoying thing I've found is that to unlock all the features, you need to download Arturia's free PC software and connect the machine to your computer via USB cable. This is fine in my living room, but to have to drag a tablet or laptop to a gig or jam session would be an annoyance. There is also the question of what you do in 20 years when the instrument is in fine shape but Arturia no longer supprts it, or USB has become obsolete, etc. In my mind it would've been worth an extra $50-100 to simply add an extra hardware switch panel to the machine to cut the cord from reliance on any external computer. That said, for 300 bucks you cannot beat the value you get with this thing. The sequencer is what really sold me on it, but after getting my hands on it that awesome rich sound keeps me coming back for more. I run it through my bass pedalboard, with delay and phaser pedals, and I feel like it can do almost anything. Even better when syncing it to a drum machine like a Volca Beats, all that amazing analog synth power fits on a small coffee table.

      Good Bang for Buck

      By Bill Stewart

Comments about Arturia Microbrute Analog Synthesizer:

I picked my microbrute,10 days past. And i must say...its a very impressive little machine. Now granted my pitch wheel...is say somewhat off...but not a bother in my case. The rest of the components in this little tyke more than make up for its lackings.in closing, try the microbrute out at your local gc...and in my case 299.00 was a fine, fine bargain

      Poor Quality Control

      By Matthew Hoang

      from Falls Church, VA

Comments about Arturia Microbrute Analog Synthesizer:

A lot of people have complained about the build quality regarding the Minibrute, so I hoped that they would have put more thought into the build quality for the Microbrute. Right off the bat I notice that the Pitch bend wheel was completely buggy. Bending the pitch up would not have a smooth transition up, instead it would STEP down a whole tone and then STEP up a whole tone relative to the key being pressed. Researching my problem, it was evident that this is a common problem. Rather than hassle for a replacement (which I had no faith in being 100% functional) or dealing with the manufacturer I returned it as soon as possible.

      Inspiring bang for buck.

      By Peter Dyer

      from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about Arturia Microbrute Analog Synthesizer:

I was looking for a backpack midi controller, and this jumped out as it's got an analog synth attached. It has some unique quirks, including a non-Moog-ish glide, and slower envelopes, but other quirks are a fresh boon, liked stackable waveforms on a single VCO, the strange "metalizer", and a multi-mode filter. Syncing the onboard sequencer with Logic wasn't perfect, and it's not bus-powered, but again, it's a $300 analog synth that fits in a backpack.

      Analogue is back

      By warren christiansen

      from Tulsa, Ok

Comments about Arturia Microbrute Analog Synthesizer:

I own a LOT of virtual synths; Omnisphere,Alchemy, NI Komplete... & I love them all, but I had more fun in the first 20 minutes with this synth than I have with any instrument in years. If you think you want this, you probably do. Only thing missing is a second oscillator for detune, but the sub & mixed waveforms can make it sound like more than one.
