Arturia, based in Grenoble, France, and in operation since 1999, concentrates on the development of electronic music software and tools. A prime focus has been emulations of vintage analog synthesizers—a job they have done well enough to have received accolades from the late Robert A. Moog, inventor of the Moog Synthesizer.
Founders Frédéric Brun and Gilles Pommereuil have developed a key technology known as TAE (True Analog Emulation) that allows for the accurate modeling of the inherently non-stable elements of analog components, enabling extraordinarily accurate digital versions of classics like the Minimoog and Sequential Circuits Prophet 5, including such details as oscillator drift.
Recent products have included hardware synths that can swap around different modeled analog modules, such as a filter bank from one synth and an oscillator from another, to create new sounds and drum machines that contain both models of vintage units and new, hybrid systems.
Arturia continues to integrate the latest advances in computer music research and technology into their products, working closely with partner research institutions, such as IRCAM France, to develop leading edge musical instruments and software.
