Overview

The ART HeadAmp6PRO is a six-channel stereo headphone amplifier that includes a six-channel auxiliary input section that can be used to provide the popular "more-me" function on each headphone mix. Each output channel also features a dual-function balance control which will pan between the left and right sides of the main signal bus, or vary the mix between the main signal bus and the auxiliary input for that respective channel.

Bass and treble controls are included on each output channel for fine-tuning the tone. Outputs include both front- and rear-panel stereo 1/4" TRS jacks for ease of installation and quick patching capability. Two mono select buttons on each channel select between four operating modes: Stereo, Mono Left, Mono Right, and Mono Both (left and right) for versatile monitoring solutions.

The main outputs for each channel of the headphone amplifier are rear-mounted stereo TRS jacks wired in parallel with the corresponding output jacks on the front panel. Front-panel, rear-panel, or both front- and rear-panel outputs can be used simultaneously to drive headphones or be used as feeds to additional headphone amplifiers in a distributed audio network.

Input options include XLR and 1/4" TRS balanced inputs with matching Thru jacks for bridging multiple HeadAmp6Pro units. An additional front-panel stereo 1/4" TRS jack for quick patch override of the rear panel inputs is included for quick insertion of any stereo source. Eight-segment LED level indicators provide visual feedback of the signal level on all channels as well as the main signal bus.

Features
  • Six independent high-power amplifier channels
  • Bass and treble EQ per channel
  • Dual function pan/mix control per channel
  • Stereo aux input for each channel
  • Multiple monitoring settings per channel
  • Precision eight-segment LED bar graph per channel

I just got the ART Headamp Pro 6. It is quality in design ,build and performance. It has six high performing headphone pre-amps each Bass, Treble, Pan and Volume control. Enough power for high quality Monitor Headphones. Headphones can be plugged in on the front or the back of the unit. Balances in and out sockets for XLR or TRS. The unit has a built in power converter so a 110 volt cord is used not a transformer. This is better for rack or stand alone use. I will consider ART products in the future for my project studio needs. Good job "ART"

I recently purchased this Headphone amp to replace my PreSonus HP4 that had had problems twice in 2 years. However this was a very bad decision on my part. After I had used it just one week, one of the musicians plugged his headphones into channel 3 and then... POW!!!!! "what was that?" "huh?" "hey I smell something burning!" "why is the clip meter all the way up on channel 3?"Those were the comments made after the thing blew up on us. And yes something was burning inside the headphone amp making a very bad smell.Musician's Friend was great at doing a advanced exchange and I got a new one in the same week.HOWEVER...The next one did the EXACT SAME THING IN THE FIRST HOUR I USED IT!!! This time I didn't even touch the thing. Was just listening to the track moving an unplugged mic and... KA-POWIE!!! This time it was channel 1. Same story though: the burning smell, no audio signal, and the light shows that its clipping, oh and small bits of static. So I'll say the stuff that other people normally say in these horror reviews: DON'T BUY!!! BEWARE!!! YOU'LL BE SORRY YOU DID IT!!!Anyways... this amp might work well for something. Maybe that burning smell would actually start a fire and you could fry you eggs on it. Ooh! or maybe some pancakes!!! Yeah Pancakes.

Comments about Art Headamp6Pro Professional 6-Channel Headphone Amplifier:

As other reviewers have stated. Channel two just went out without warning, without being abused. Meters stay pegged on that channel now. It did not blow my headphones as some have noted. Bottom line you get what you pay for here. ART is obviously cutting serious corners on the internal components to keep the cost this low, but that will backfire on the. I will never buy another one of their products. I will be taking this apart doing some component level troubleshooting to see what kind of inferior components they have soldered in there. Conclusion, If you need a low cost headphone amp and can live with only getting a few years out of it before it hits the dumpster than this is your piece. As point of reference I have a 20 year old Carver amp in my studio that I use every day and it still sounds great. FYI, the VU meters on my ART DI also stopped working after about 2 years so there us a definite MO of poor quality at ART. Shame on you ART, how about some business ethics????

Comments about Art Headamp6Pro Professional 6-Channel Headphone Amplifier:

Very attractive looking rackmount headphone amp and it sounded great . . . for about two years. The unit developed a hum in one one output channel that got progressively worse over a month-long period. I spent three weeks of trying to get someone at ART to setup a repair, for pay, and never heard a single response. Gave up and bought a different brand. If you can consider a rackmount headphone amp as a disposable product this is great. If you are looking for a long term relationship with the maker and their product, look elsewhere.

WAS Fantastic... Until it fried and died.

      By Jason Ozant

      from Pueblo, CO

Comments about Art Headamp6Pro Professional 6-Channel Headphone Amplifier:

I don't think that I just got a bad one. what happened to me, I'm seeing other reviews with the same issue. It was literally within two weeks of the warranty expiring that channel 1 fried out and the clip meter shot up to peak and stayed on. But I didn't worry too much about it, as i still had 5 more channels, right? Well not for long. Three more channels have since popped out of commission, and fried a $100 set of headphones with one of them. The most frustrating part is that neither ART nor Musician's Friend will do anything about it, as it is just barely out of warranty. (Not that I really expected Musician's Friend to do anything, as it really isn't their responsibility.)

So... if you like your headphones, and don't particularly like flushing $200 or more down the toilet, then I would have to say avoid this headphone amp. I learned the hard way this time. I guess I COULD have bought the extended coverage... but then crap would have been replaced with crap, right? I'll be going with Alesis or PreSonus from now on.
Awesome features with with treble, bass, balance for each channel
Channels began blowing out IMMEDIATELY after the warranty expired
If it didn't fry it would have been a great deal on a great product.

Sorry.. but It is how you dial in the equipment.

      By Brett Hansen

Comments about Art Headamp6Pro Professional 6-Channel Headphone Amplifier:

I've seen many bad reviews on this product. However, If you're needing volume to track drums you might keep this in mind. I have some audio technica headphones that are workhorses. They handle 1500millawatts @ around 60 ohms. That is equal to 1.5 watts. That's a lot of power handling. But they are not comfortable after hours of recording. Now the lower the impedance the more the amp needs current from it's internal power supply. Just like if you have the signal in the red...If you lower the bass you'll get more SPL without the speaker distorting ( less excursion )..... It is similar to active or passive crossover for the tweeter/mids protecting it from the bass frequencies...You will be less likely to blow out the headphones. with my old AKG's 600 ohm's when tracking drumset I had to place the bass control at -6db or at 9 o'clock on knob setting or speakers would dist or blowout. The only drawback is that it sounds thin but that won't effect the recording or final mix. Now I went back today to check on specs with this item and thought it had 1.5 watt output but it doesn't. I'm using my stereo receiver for headphone outs for over 25 years. I regret though that I did it on one receiver using the speaker outs with multiple jacks. I messed up 1 channel because I did not put 100 ohm or higher impedance resistors in line on plus side so when the headphones get unplugged when amp is on 1 channel shorted temporarily (zero ohms). With resistors inline on Rt & Lf positive terminals.. when headphones get unplugged the amp won't see zero ohms but will see the resistor value and won't short out... The only drawback is everbody gets the same volume and mix. But that is not a problem with good experienced musicians. Just beginners.

Not at all impressed. Just received my replacement unit today after waiting 30 days for the unit to arrive at Musicians friend. The first one lasted 3 weeks and blew up my headphones. This new unit has problems right out of the box. Channel# 6 volume indicator light does not work. Not worth the hassle to return. I will wait till this one blows [ and it will ] and will up grade to a better product. This thing is junk.......!

BOOM BOOM OUT GOES THE AMP

      By Dave from Bulldog Direct

      from cincinnati,Ohio

Comments about Art Headamp6Pro Professional 6-Channel Headphone Amplifier:

I have had this unit for about 3 weeks. Today, I plugged my headphones into channel one and BOOM., loud Pop. The clip meter went all the up to red and stayed there. At the same time it blew out the right channel on my new headphones. Not too impressed....! From reading the other comments I have to wonder what the replacement unit will do?
