This Aquarian Hi-Velocity snare drum head is an ebony 2-ply (2.7mil) head with a reverse Power-Thin dot for extra strength. It provides easy tuning, great stick response, zero slippage inside the hoop, consistent sound, increased resonance and sensitivity, and the sound that drummers need and deserve.
This hoop system prevents slippage inside the hoop so that the snare head does not de-tune during a performance and will not pull out. Tuning is consistent and the replacement head stays in tune.
Sound Curve Collar Design
This design allows the Aquarian drumhead to seat perfectly on the bearing edge. No wrinkles even with loose tuning. It conforms instantly to any shell design and makes tuning fast, easy, and more accurate.
Triple Locking System
This unique system provides drummers with previously unheard of advantages in resonance and playability. First, holes are punched in the bottom of a "U" shaped channel, which has been formed in the drumhead. These holes allow the epoxy to flow into the "Safe-T-Loc" channel. Second, the "T-Ribs" that form the Safe-T-Loc channel prevent the epoxy and the drumhead, from slipping and pulling away from the hoop. Lastly, the Locking Shoulder acts as a "stop" to ensure the correct collar height for the snare drumhead.

For the price, and considering I had to use MoonGel to dampen the annoying ring, I had to give this 3 stars. Dampened, it sounds pretty good, but I don't normally have to go through the hassle. I'll stick with my Hi-Energy head from now on.
When I think of Aquarian, I don't usually think about snare heads...but I'm glad I came across this sweet-sounding head. You can get a lot of different sounds out of it, and the power dot on the back seems to be a little bigger than most other heads, which I like...but if you like more ring out of your snare it's got plenty to spare, so don't think it takes away from the full sound. Not to mention this thing will last you quite a while... Overall, this head sounds awesome, looks awesome, and is awesome. Get it, you won't be disappointed!
So I'm teching for an Aquarian endorser and getting a free snare batter here and there when about two months ago, he gives me this new head he wanted me to try. I slapped it on my Pork Pie Big Black Patina 14"x6.5" snare and instantly fell in love w/this head. That was two months ago and today being Jan 10th 2010, I replaced it with the black version. TWO MONTHS IS TOTALLY INSANE AS I WAS CHANGING SNARE BATTERS JUST ABOUT EVERY TWO WEEKS!!! Long story short, I cannot praise this new snare batter head or Roy and his gang at Aquarian for developing not only an excellent sounding, very versitile yet consistent, and very, very, very RESILIENT to where even the hardest hitting bashers out there (including myself) will see that it is for more superior to anything that Remo or Evans could possibly dream up. WAY TO AQUARIAN...THIS IS ONE TOUGH COOKIE!
