I originally bought this guitar for my kids. Despite the 3/4 size, this guitar is a good fit for average size adults. We had to lower the string height a bit, the sound is a bit muffled (typical of round back designs), there is a slight twist in the neck in the lower half of the fretboard (which we compensated for with the bridge adjustment), and there were a couple of cosmetic problems on the neck (we fixed these as well). Regardless of these small issues, this guitar is very easy to play and it is very durable in comparison to all-wood guitars. Overall, this is a great value for a fun guitar that your kids can learn and play with for many years. In fact, I like it so much that I find myself picking it up and playing it when my kids aren't.

I was very disappointed with this purchase. It?s said you get what you pay for, I don?t believe I even got that. The finish was terrible I found cracks in the finish, and the tuning pegs were cheap, and like something you would find on a toy guitar from a toy store. I am going try a good set of strings and see if that will stop the string from buzzing. If that doesn?t work I?m thing of just changing the strings to steel. If I had known that Applause (Ovation) was being produce in China I may have had second thoughts of purchasing the guitar. Thumbs! Down on this one.

Sweet little guitar.

Comments about Applause AN13 Minibowl 3/4 Classical Guitar:

Nice little guitar. Sounds good. Very handy size, and well built too. Round bowl projects the sound well. The lyramold back makes toting it around alot more carefree. I'm very happy with this purchase.

In a different class

Comments about Applause AN13 Minibowl 3/4 Classical Guitar:

It's difficult to compare this guitar against any other because there aren't any other exactly like it. My guitar came well packed and I was surprised at the fine build quality on a guitar in this price range. I replaced the factory strings with a set of heavy tension strings, and that gave this instrument a bit more projection. But, understand that the qualities of this guitar are subtle but pleasing. The action might be a little high; I haven't decided yet, but it is a pleasure to play.

Good Travel Guitar

By John-1VpM8

from Maryland

Comments about Applause AN13 Minibowl 3/4 Classical Guitar:

The guitar is solid and probably as indestructable as a classical guitar can get. Take it camping, to the beach, tailgating, etc. The sound quality is not well formed. I don't know if the shape of the back is not optimized, or maybe the versions with the pickup sound better, but you'll never consider recording with this. The cutout neck is great and tonal quality at high frets is right on, but overall sound quality is mediocre at best. I'm not sending it back because I need a guitar I don't mind taking to a bonfire, camping, or the beach where there are chances of breaking a nicer guitar. I wouldn't think twice about lending this to anyone, either.

Little Jewel

By Still in Awe

Comments about Applause AN13 Minibowl 3/4 Classical Guitar:

This is a small, quiet nylon string with a sweet, balanced tone. Unlike my solid-top, large body Ovations, the AN-13 doesn't project its sound forcefully...rather, it creates a very personal sound envelope that is very pleasing to practice within. String it with extra hard tension strings (e.g. D'Addario EJ44) and let your fingers do the talking. This is a first-rate machine!

way more than a travel guitar

Comments about Applause AN13 Minibowl 3/4 Classical Guitar:

I have had this guitar for the past 4 years, and my father had it for 4 before that, and during the time that I have had it, it has been through hell and back with me. It has been rained on, dropped, covered in sand, carried all over indoors and out with and without a case, it has been camping with me many times, and has withstood more than any guitar ever should, and it still sounds just as amazing as when it was first bought. Over all of that time, it has needed no repairs, other than a bit of glue occasionally on the plastic ring on the soundhole, which it looks like it may not even have on newer models. Aside from being completely indestructible, it sounds great and is very easy to play - perfect action, short scale, and nylon strings. Overall, I would recommend this guitar for all guitarists.

Comments about Applause AN13 Minibowl 3/4 Classical Guitar:

This little sweetie is just the right size, gives up nothing in intonation, sound or quality. Nickel frets are well laid on a perfect neck. Quality and sound are amazing for an affordable instrument. Nothing to be ashamed of!

Great guitar for travelling

By Macdad159

from Hawaii

Comments about Applause AN13 Minibowl 3/4 Classical Guitar:

I love this guitar. I am in Iraq and did not want to bring a more expensive one out here. I found this one to be reasonable in price and was skeptical on how this would sound. I absolutely love it. Sound is rich and warm. The neck is fast and with adjustments can be faster. Great workmanship for applause. I will use this guitar for years.
