I bought this guitar for my daughter as a Christmas gift after she had proven that she would stick with the lessons. I was always enjoyed my older Applause AE-38, so this made me look toward the purchase of this guitar for her. After the guitar arrived I compared the quality of the new AE-128 to my old AE-38. I was impressed with the quality and looks. Now the sound and play ability right out of the box was no where as relaxing as my old guitar. The AE-128 had a very high action and was even tuff on my fingers to play. I knew there was no way my 12 year old daughter would enjoy this guitar straight from the box and if I had checked it, she might even quit playing if it became work and not fun. I arranged for the guitar to have the action lowered before giving it to her. After having this done the guitar is much more of a pleasure to play. Overall this is a very beautiful beginning guitar but be prepaired to have the guitar adjusted to your liking, then you will have the guitar you wanted. In case you are wondering about the cost to have the action redone at a local music store, this ran me an extra $29 but was well worth it.
Well, I ordered this guitar for my birthday and when I finally recieved it, it was in bad shape. The bottom was openning and it was just a scary thing to see. I had to wait 2 weeks for it to come and another two weeks to ship back for a replacement. I will say though, the customer service is legit because they did not hesitate on shipping me a new one :D. It took another two weeks to get the replacement to my house though -_-. Total: 6 weeks. Although it took so long to obtain, it is very good quality and the sound is just warm and sweet. Pretty awesome guitar for intermediate players and such.
I couldn't have been more happy with my purchase from guitar center. The guitar came without a flaw. Sounds great!! Looks great!!! Plays great !!!!. Low string action, stays in tune and no string buzz. I have played this guitar with cd's of songs with expensive guitars and this one sounds really good compared with others. I am very happy with this purchase. Great job Guitar Center.com. What more can I say.
