Overview

The Aphex Exciter and Optical Big Bottom delivers increased presence, depth, and clarity to your recording, mixing, and mastering projects and does it all with little or no increase in peak output. The Exciter's patented processes restore natural brightness to your music through dynamic harmonic enhancement. In a mix, this creates more space and dimensionality and gives individual tracks room to breathe. The Optical Big Bottom adds density to the low end that increases presence and punch and dramatically enhances bass frequencies without overloading speakers or recorders. Single rackspace.

Good Effects Processor

By Michael

from South Carolina

Comments about Aphex Exciter and Optical Big Bottom:

If you want to add some low end to a kick or a bass, or a little presence and air to a vocal the Aphex works well. Don't expect to fix a poorly recorded instrument or vocal. I use the Aphex as an effects processor on various instruments when I want some variety.

A tool to consider for your studio

By Fuzzball

from Ida, MI

Comments about Aphex Exciter and Optical Big Bottom:

This unit really does provide enhanced low-end response. The 204 provides 2 input channels and an internal power supply which is always a nice thing to have. I would compare it favorable to a BBE sonic Maximizer (they both seem to do the same task equally well). If you already have a BBE unit you may want to use one of these also in order to have something a bit different. The unit claims to increase presence by recreating missing harmonics. With that in mind this unit may be an excellent tool to add to your signal chain if you use a POD unit. I really liked this unit and I would greatly recommend it if you use digital effects for your guitar.

Come a long way

By John Marzich

from arroyo grande, ca

Comments about Aphex Exciter and Optical Big Bottom:

Remember way back in the early 80's tried one of these and was it noisy! But as the title sez the Aural Exciter is a state of the art unit with wide bandwidth now and extreme low noise. A little bit goes a long way. My instruments actually sound different and even deeper. These are the only one of their kind in this design.

FAT

By Derek Zoolander

from Berkeley, CA

Comments about Aphex Exciter and Optical Big Bottom:

Hi, This unit is a fairly good deal for $249.99. It really does enhance low end response quite a bit. At first the effect of it seemed hard to notice but once I turned it off I couldnt believe that that was the monitoring system I had been using for the past few months. Only complaint is that it can be easy to overuse, I turn it up until its obvious and then turn it down a tiny bit. that seems to provide best results. One other thing I noticed was that both of the processes seemed to work better on compressed and processed material better, use it last in the signal chain.

Makes music come alive

By Will

from Dallas, TX

Comments about Aphex Exciter and Optical Big Bottom:

This has been the best thing I ever bought for my audio setup. It makes every type of music come alive with such depth and headroom that it just doesn't sound the same without it.

adds what is needed

By chris switzer

from bremerton, WA

Comments about Aphex Exciter and Optical Big Bottom:

I do solo acoustic stuff for a side job,, this adds exactly what i wanted it to. Unlike an EQ this keeps the particular frequency at the same volume insted of peakin out certain areas of the spectrum. I can set my sound so I think its sounds pretty good then add the Aphex,, huge difference. I really dont want to run my system with out it. So good things to say about it

Great buy

By Chico

from Sugar Land

Comments about Aphex Exciter and Optical Big Bottom:

I was able to get my hands on this and now won't let it go. It brings my sound to another level. The base and highs sound so clear that when I use lower qaulity speakers it make them sound good. Didn't have to spend more on speakers couse I'm able to bring the sound better with this. I keep this in my DJ rack just so when I connect to remote sites the system sounds better. I was playing at a hall and when I connected to there sound the owners came up to me and said what did I do to clear it better. All I did was show them this and that was it. They had to order it oline couse Guitar center didn't have it in stock thought.
