Warranty
MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY
On May 1st, 2009, the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg websites will be updated with the addition of warranty URLs (e.g. www.mackie.com/warranty) expressing new A Stock warranty terms. These warranty URLs will go live on May 1st, 2009. Formerly, warranty periods for these LOUD brands appeared in a variety of locations – in product manuals (for Mackie and TAPCO) and on warranty cards and hang tags (for Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg). In order to streamline and clarify this process, Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg warranty periods and terms will be communicated in full on the warranty pages. Any LOUD products purchased prior to May 1st will bear with them the manufacturer’s warranty as predates the new policy. Moving through this transition, in order for customers to obtain warranty service, both the sales receipt and a physical copy of the (older) warranty statement will be required by our Service and Support departments in order to issue Service Requests, etc. If the product was purchased on or after May 1st, 2009, but a physical copy of the older warranty terms is not presented, the new warranty terms and periods will apply. Meanwhile, the products that bear with them the new warranty periods (as reflected in the box contents of each product) are being tracked by serial #, and contain new warranty content referring customers to the appropriate brand website. The information below reflects the product warranty periods that will be effective on May 1st, 2009 for the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg brands: Mackie: A 3-year, nontransferable, inclusive warranty on electronics and a 2-year, nontransferable, inclusive warranty on drivers (where applicable) apply to loudspeakers (active and passive), power amps, powered mixers, and HR studio monitors. Specific models under this warranty include all SRM, HD, SA, C and S Series Speakers, all FRS Amplifiers, all HRmk2 Studio Monitors. A 1-year, all inclusive, nontransferable warranty applies to all mixers, MR Studio Monitors, Control Surfaces, Processors (digital), MR Studio Monitors, Control Surfaces, Audio/MIDI Interfaces, other SR & Recording Products. The SVT-PRO series delivers a lot of power for the price. The 5 position Frequency switch takes a little getting used to but one can get virtually any tone they want with plenty of punch. With this head, mixing the bass through the front end has become effortless. Our sound man loves the way it sounds through the mains!

The sound was good. The power was good. The price was good. The light weight was good. The bad, well, like several other people on various posts in other review sites, mine stopped functioning for 3-4 seconds when the power was up to a higher level (gain at 50% and master at 50%). Ampeg reliability is getting poor. I just returned a heritage SVT classic for crapping out when I first got it too. Old Ampeg is good, new Ampeg is questionable. ThANKing my stars that GC does 30 day returns with no questions asked so I did not have to go to a service center for something I wanted to get rid of.

Comments about Ampeg SVT7PRO 1000W Class D Bass Amp Head:

Bought new and used at weekend gigs and rehearsals for seven months. Never driven hard, dropped or misused. The amp quit cold at a rehearsal (thank goodness not at a gig and I had my old SWR handy). Nearest warranty service is in San Francisco, 200 miles from my home base, and of course, I have to pack and ship at my expense for service. I've been playing gigs professionally and part-time for over 45 years and have owned Fender, Music Man, Acoustic, Peavy, G-K, and SWR bass amps, some bought new and some used, but all showed better reliability than this amp. I wish I'd checked the internet before I bought it as there are numerous reports of these amps failing. It's a good sounding amp and nicely portable because it doesn't weigh much (which is why I bought it - my SWR weighs 58 lbs and I'm old with a bad back.), but if you buy one, be sure to keep a reliable spare handy.

Power and Tone for Days

By Mark Dayton

from Costa Mesa, CA

Comments about Ampeg SVT7PRO 1000W Class D Bass Amp Head:

I needed a new amp for a steady gigging situation. I was a little anxious about whether I would be able to recreate the sound of my existing rig that I had spent a lot of time putting together. I shouldn't have been worried; the SVT7-PRO delivered like gangbusters! Plenty of punch, top-end sizzle and depth when needed. I spent a minimum of time dialing in my sound and found that I could easily finesse any tone that I needed from it. The compressor gave me tons of natural sounding sustain. The guys in the band loved it. Even though I cranked up the volume, they kept telling me to turn up louder! And the audience at our gig responded as well, being able to easily appreciate the nuances of my playing. Highly recommend for any player needing a very portable amp with power and depth.

Paint Peeler.

By Richard Averitt

from Amarillo Texas

Comments about Ampeg SVT7PRO 1000W Class D Bass Amp Head:

I have played my SVT 7pro for the past 100+ shows. Not a glich in the amp. It did not take long to trash two cabinets with this beast. I solved the problem by changing cabs to the Ampeg 8-10 fridge. At our shows this weekend paint was falling from the ceiling and covering our lead guitarist red sequened blazer. He blamed it on the Ampeg combo, but he loved it. The tone is so rich and powerful, I got rid of all my outboard effects. This beast just helped land us on the Texas music charts. I have searched for years for that perfect bass sound, and tried them all. This one actually delivers.

Great sound

By Richard Averitt

from Amarillo Texas

Comments about Ampeg SVT7PRO 1000W Class D Bass Amp Head:

I picked mine up last week and played two weekend shows with it. It has the best sound I have ever heard through any amp. Very versatile. I had been playing through a 600 watt acoustic amp, and there is no comparison in the tone. I am running through a single 8 ohm cabinet with one 15. The reason is because I have heard these amps will flame out, and probably sooner than later. Therefore hopefully cutting the load in half will delay the inevitable. Also, nothing wrong with having plenty of head room. At any rate I got the two year warranty and I have an active bass di for when it happens as it did at a large concert three weeks ago with my Acoustic amp. The di output is awesome. We run a large PA and I play wireless, so I was able to go out front during sound check and feel the thunder. WOW! No more wimpy bass tones as long as this monster holds it together. If you play on a professional level, you will want this amp.

I am hoping some of the reviews are a fluke , I am going on sound . I purchased svt 7 pro after trying in store with my 1982 G&L 2000 L E . It is replacing a 4 slot rack that had pre -amp ,power amp , compressor , ect ... 69 lbs ! I plugged my bass in and yes ! Nice clean, bright ,punchy , bass with headroom ! I've been playing for 30 plus years and every rig i have had ,that's what Im looking for ! So i am sticking with it and will keep you posted !

Tons of bass for the right price

By Chris Keene

from New York, New York

Comments about Ampeg SVT7PRO 1000W Class D Bass Amp Head:

So far I am 100% satisfied with my purchase of this amp. I picked this thing up about 3 months ago and trust me when I say it gets plenty of work. I was weary at first after reading a few bad reviews on earlier models but mine thusfar has given me not 1 single problem after about 36 4 hours practices and 5 to 6 gigs. I have my head paired with a GK Neo 4x10 running at 8 ohms which means the head is running at 600 watts instead of 1000 @ $ ohms but it is still plenty loud enough to be heard over 2 Peavey tube halfstacks and a drumkit triggered though a PA. Tons of features including onboard compression, tube direct out, tuner out, effects loop and more. I would def recommend this to anyone.

Not A Good Buy!

By MARK SHERMAN

from Ft. Lauderdale

Comments about Ampeg SVT7PRO 1000W Class D Bass Amp Head:

I also purchased a used SVT-7 PRO. Saved up my pennies to buy my first AMPEG. You hear so much about AMPEG as a bass player. I have owned Hartke and Peavey Heads and was really looking for power, headroom and wide tonality. The SVT-7 Pro delivered. However after 3 gigs, the output transistors burned up and AMPEG (Loud Technologies) refuses to help because I am not the original owner. The circuit boards need replacing and cost more than I paid. So be it! But the guy I bought it from sent it to me in the original box and it was barely used. It is a Chinese Head and the quality is questionable. Light weight, and impressive at first glance. The tech that looked at it for me told me the the "D" Class AMPEG heads have been very disappointing and he has seen more of these come in than any othe AMPEG product. I am grateful to still have my Hartke Head. It has never failed me in 5 years.

Comments about Ampeg SVT7PRO 1000W Class D Bass Amp Head:

Let me start.... I tried this on store.... and it blowed me up! what i̴ve heard there, all in one head! you cant get the gritty tone of the tubes without spending on a CL-SVT!!! and you can still get the sound of FET that modern bass players use the most you got all on this amp, power, tube pre, PUNCH, Low End, and the buddy we all know... 5 position frequency knob that defines us players of ampeg. Just Try it, you̴ll know what im talking about
