MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY
On May 1st, 2009, the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg websites will be updated with the addition of warranty URLs (e.g. www.mackie.com/warranty) expressing new A Stock warranty terms. These warranty URLs will go live on May 1st, 2009. Formerly, warranty periods for these LOUD brands appeared in a variety of locations – in product manuals (for Mackie and TAPCO) and on warranty cards and hang tags (for Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg). In order to streamline and clarify this process, Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg warranty periods and terms will be communicated in full on the warranty pages. Any LOUD products purchased prior to May 1st will bear with them the manufacturer’s warranty as predates the new policy. Moving through this transition, in order for customers to obtain warranty service, both the sales receipt and a physical copy of the (older) warranty statement will be required by our Service and Support departments in order to issue Service Requests, etc. If the product was purchased on or after May 1st, 2009, but a physical copy of the older warranty terms is not presented, the new warranty terms and periods will apply. Meanwhile, the products that bear with them the new warranty periods (as reflected in the box contents of each product) are being tracked by serial #, and contain new warranty content referring customers to the appropriate brand website. The information below reflects the product warranty periods that will be effective on May 1st, 2009 for the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg brands: Mackie: A 3-year, nontransferable, inclusive warranty on electronics and a 2-year, nontransferable, inclusive warranty on drivers (where applicable) apply to loudspeakers (active and passive), power amps, powered mixers, and HR studio monitors. BEST KEPT SECRET IN MID POWER PROFESSIONAL GRADE BASS AMPLIFIERS

By Stan

from Warrior, Al

Comments about Ampeg SVT450H 450W Classic Series Head:

As an active semi-professional bassist, a simple, high quality, good sounding bass amplifier you can depend on week after week is imperative. The SVT450H fits that bill perfectly for me. I use one of these amplifiers along with an SVT410HLF cabinet and a passive Fender Jazz strung with LaBella Deep Talkin' Flats, and the tone this thing produces always keeps me smiling. I don't use any pedals or effects. With the limiter off, I just set the gain at its peak (usually about 7-8) after adjusting tone, and use the master from there. Sometimes I don't use the EQ, depending on the venue of course, but most times I do, usually a good bump in the mids. At 58 years of age, I don't care anything about moving heavy heads and behemoth cabinets around anymore. I didn't like it when I was 28 and like it even less now. Regardless, for the bar and club circuit and even some of the larger halls, the SVT450H is more than adequate and is probably the best sounding solid state amplifier you will find in its class, plus, it is an absolute gem of simplicity. The tone I get is very much Ampeg, big, round, and warm, although not exactly like the larger tube powered models, but familiar enough nonetheless, and that is good. The lack of a mute button is my only complaint (are you listening Ampeg?), but I get around this by simply turning down the volume knobs on the Jazz during breaks. Despite the fact it was assembled in Vietnam, the build quality on my particular 450H is excellent and on par with established Ampeg standards, and it has performed flawlessly on the job as it is expected to do. Everything is solid and tight. I'm expecting it to last as long as my first Ampeg purchased new in the mid 70's. If it does, then it should last long after I retire, if I retire.

Awesome sounding amp!

Comments about Ampeg SVT450H 450W Classic Series Head:

I tried this at my local Guitar Center and the sound was fantastic! I played several Fenders on it, and each one sounded wonderful. Classic SVT sound. If I can ever afford a "real" amp I will definitely look into getting an Ampeg.

The Greatest AMP EVER BUILT !!!!!

By Priest Bass Player For The Saints of

from NY, NY

Comments about Ampeg SVT450H 450W Classic Series Head:

Tone and Dependability are the only two things that matter when picking an amp. It has to sound good and not break. It really is that simple. This amp dose both. The 1970 head styling allows for a good amount of storage in the back of the amp... (a Sans Amp run through the effects loop, and you will sound like God, and won't front load the signal chain!) The only minus is the fact that the head is wrapped in Tolex... But if your mother was willing to cover her couch in plastic to protect it, then you can buy a case for your amp. Pairs perfectly with an SVT 8x10 cab for the perfect Dark Tower of Doom.

The BEST solid state head.......EVER!!!!

By Blue+Pinup=CustomShop

from Reidsville, NC

Comments about Ampeg SVT450H 450W Classic Series Head:

This is by far the best solid state bass head ever. I own an SVT350H, which has all the same features as the 450H, and it has more than enough power. I play active Fender Jazz Basses and this head sounds amazingly like my old SVT from the 70's that I record with. I use a 210HE and 115HE cabs and have a great full tone that fills up clubs and large halls. If you're looking for a dependable, great sounding head this is it. Just don't us the Direct out on the back of the head unless the mic cable has a locking neutrix XLR end, it will vibrate loose and pop through the house PA. A minor flaw that is more than overcome by value and tone.

Sweetest amp ever

from St James, NY

Comments about Ampeg SVT450H 450W Classic Series Head:

I played this in the shop at Guitar Center. It had the sweetest tone I've ever heard coming out an amp I was playing through. Deep lows, bright highs. As soon as I am able, I'm getting this baby.

good Vibrations

Comments about Ampeg SVT450H 450W Classic Series Head:

I had the SVT-350H at one time sold it regreted it Bought this one. (it took the place of the SVT-350)I run it through a Peavey TVX-4x10.I play a Padulla Buzz Bass at all times through this rig.I can't tell you enough that this is as close as you will ever come to an all Tube sound without the tubes. Some of you just don't have the money to spend on such luxuries as an all tube head. This is it for you then. Or maybe the SVT-1000. But then that's about as mush as the SVT-3Pro.Well anywho. Just keep it Ampeg. Your good to go.

5 Starts?

By Kevin Pritchard

from Lansing, Mi

Comments about Ampeg SVT450H 450W Classic Series Head:

This is NOT a 5 star amp. Yes it is dependable, but there are many more important things needed for a good amp. In addition it looks pretty cool! The tone is lousy, and doesn't really sound anything like a true tube head. It is bigger than any other solid state head on the market, but I suppose that helps the "cool" factor. This head is GROSSLY underpowered for any cab Ampeg makes. I have tried pairing this with both a 410 HE and 610 HLF. I thought something was actually broken in both cabs since i got them both used. Nope, it was just the 450 H clipping attempting to power them. The highs are brittle and lifeless, and the lows cause the head to clip at half volume. I can't tell the number of house shows i've tried to use this head at where both the input and master lights were clipping, yet i was not loud enough to power the room. (Out of a 610!, not enough volume for a room) I recently upgraded to a Mesa Boogie 400+ Bass head and suddenly both cabs came to life. For this money, this Head is a HUGGE rip off. Unless you're playing a cab smaller than a 410, or really in a pinch for money. STEAR clear.
