MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY
On May 1st, 2009, the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg websites will be updated with the addition of warranty URLs (e.g. www.mackie.com/warranty) expressing new A Stock warranty terms. These warranty URLs will go live on May 1st, 2009. Formerly, warranty periods for these LOUD brands appeared in a variety of locations – in product manuals (for Mackie and TAPCO) and on warranty cards and hang tags (for Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg). In order to streamline and clarify this process, Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg warranty periods and terms will be communicated in full on the warranty pages. Any LOUD products purchased prior to May 1st will bear with them the manufacturer’s warranty as predates the new policy. Moving through this transition, in order for customers to obtain warranty service, both the sales receipt and a physical copy of the (older) warranty statement will be required by our Service and Support departments in order to issue Service Requests, etc. If the product was purchased on or after May 1st, 2009, but a physical copy of the older warranty terms is not presented, the new warranty terms and periods will apply. Meanwhile, the products that bear with them the new warranty periods (as reflected in the box contents of each product) are being tracked by serial #, and contain new warranty content referring customers to the appropriate brand website. The information below reflects the product warranty periods that will be effective on May 1st, 2009 for the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg brands: Mackie: A 3-year, nontransferable, inclusive warranty on electronics and a 2-year, nontransferable, inclusive warranty on drivers (where applicable) apply to loudspeakers (active and passive), power amps, powered mixers, and HR studio monitors. Specific models under this warranty include all SRM, HD, SA, C and S Series Speakers, all FRS Amplifiers, all HRmk2 Studio Monitors. A 1-year, all inclusive, nontransferable warranty applies to all mixers, MR Studio Monitors, Control Surfaces, Processors (digital), MR Studio Monitors, Control Surfaces, Audio/MIDI Interfaces, other SR & Recording Products. Specific product models under this warranty include all Onyx Compact, 4-bus and 8-bus, all VLZ3, all PPM, all ProFX, all CFXmk2 Mixers, all MR Studio Monitors, Big Knob, Onyx 800R, all MCU Pro family. We ordered one for the studio for bands who dont like recording direct and to give use more versatilty recording bass. Buyer beware, the new imports from the far east pale in comparison to the old ones made in the USA. The soldering inside the unit was an absolute joke. The unit was "buzzy/noisy" Within 3 weeks the power switch literally "fell" into the unit. (thats when we discovered the horrible soldering) Considering prices were supposed to come down with the move to the far east, not the QA, I would not buy another.

Comments about Ampeg SVT-VR Vintage Reissue 300 Watt SVT Amp Head:

I have been playing the bass for over twenty-five years and have been through just about everything as far as amplifiers! You name it I've owned it! This amp by far is the best sounding amplifier I have used to date.Super warm tones as to be expected. The only set back is it's Heavy! But well worth the extra weight for the sound that this amp produces!

Comments about Ampeg SVT-VR Vintage Reissue 300 Watt SVT Amp Head:

I use this amp mostly for a classic rock cover band I'm in where it seems to work pretty well. I like it but I'm not sure it's worth the price. I use a di box out to the huge pa we have so basically I have a nice 250 lb rig as my monitor now. I played a GK 2001rb before this which I liked but something went wrong on two different heads so they didn't sound good very long. Although, it seems the solid state is more articulate and has more modern tones. The 810e cab I use now doesn't have horns so some tone types are limited. For weighing 85lbs I was suprised it wasn't louder than the gk. I'm guessing someone with skills on tone achievement via pedals and rack could make this amp do whatever but I' don't use much of that. Good classic tone is what this amp has.

I put about 9 hours on this amp, rehearsing at home. Very impressed. Then I took it out to the gig,and got to turn it up. Extremely impressed! A good sound is easy to dial in, and the controls are very responsive. Can get lots of different cool tone, with small movements of the dials.

Comments about Ampeg SVT-VR Vintage Reissue 300 Watt SVT Amp Head:

I have been a proud owner of this amp for three years. This amp is hands down the best amplifier I have ever played on. It has a massive sound that I have simply not been able to replicate on any other amp that I have tried, and I have tried several (Fenders, Markbass, Behringer, even other Ampegs - solid state and tubed). It has lasted 4 tours, hundreds of shows and practices and has only broken down on me twice (the first being tube issues - not the amp's fault, the second being a blown transistor). With as much action as that amp sees and the amount of abuse I put it through, trust me when I say that is a good track record for a tube amp. The only downsides I can point out are the amp is extremely heavy (which if you have played on SVTs before, this should not be a new concept - however it is something to consider for the novice who wants to casually gig or practice), uses LOTS of tubes and can therefore be expensive for upkeep from time to time, and that there are indeed some bad wiring and soldering jobs on the inside as some other reviews have said. I have not had issues with the last item (perhaps I'm lucky), but I was not impressed with a couple of soldered areas in the amp. That being said, I have not experienced major issues with this amp and have found it to be very dependable. If you are looking for a high quality amplifier that will shake the rafters, this is definitely the amp for you.

Used for playing Doom, Sludge, Black Metal.

      Good sound, heavy price

      By James Shearer

Comments about Ampeg SVT-VR Vintage Reissue 300 Watt SVT Amp Head:

Overall I love this amp. The old school vintage vibe, the basic, no-nonsense controls and the power. I've played a bunch of bars and a couple of hockey rinks with this and a fifteen inch cab. I've never needed to use anything else and it's never been over a third volume. My friend who has a peavy amp and a 4x10 stack for his guitar can't believe I can still play along with him without a bigger cabinet.
This past summer I was lucky enough to open for the classic rock bands that my city had brought in. Being the curtain jerkers, take your instruments and plug in here and here. I used their bassist's backup rig and it was a vintage SVT. In my mind, there was no difference in sound. If you're determined to spend money, put it here.
Simple, straight forward and not a whole lot of bells and whistles. You plug this thing in and get a great sound, no matter what.
Had mine for over a year and it is a tough rig. Nothing loose, nothing peeling or buzzing, sounds as good as it did the day I bought it.
I'm cheap and I didn't like the price. Still bought one and it doubles the value of the vehicle I cart it around in LoL

      3rd Time Is A Charm

      By Bruce

      from Austin TX

Comments about Ampeg SVT-VR Vintage Reissue 300 Watt SVT Amp Head:

I bought one of these in March of 2008 and absolutely, undeniably stand in awe of the tone and power delivered by this beast. It took Ampeg (Loud Technologies) 3 times to get me one that worked as advertised, but they did and I have had no problems since. They stood by the product and corrected the issue. I have it connected to an Ampeg 410HLF and the bottom end thunder it produces makes the other bass players in my neck of the woods jealous and green with envy. It is a set it and forget tool for working bass players.
