Warranty
MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY
On May 1st, 2009, the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg websites will be updated with the addition of warranty URLs (e.g. www.mackie.com/warranty) expressing new A Stock warranty terms. These warranty URLs will go live on May 1st, 2009. Formerly, warranty periods for these LOUD brands appeared in a variety of locations – in product manuals (for Mackie and TAPCO) and on warranty cards and hang tags (for Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg). In order to streamline and clarify this process, Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg warranty periods and terms will be communicated in full on the warranty pages. Any LOUD products purchased prior to May 1st will bear with them the manufacturer’s warranty as predates the new policy. Moving through this transition, in order for customers to obtain warranty service, both the sales receipt and a physical copy of the (older) warranty statement will be required by our Service and Support departments in order to issue Service Requests, etc. If the product was purchased on or after May 1st, 2009, but a physical copy of the older warranty terms is not presented, the new warranty terms and periods will apply. Meanwhile, the products that bear with them the new warranty periods (as reflected in the box contents of each product) are being tracked by serial #, and contain new warranty content referring customers to the appropriate brand website. The information below reflects the product warranty periods that will be effective on May 1st, 2009 for the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg brands: Mackie: A 3-year, nontransferable, inclusive warranty on electronics and a 2-year, nontransferable, inclusive warranty on drivers (where applicable) apply to loudspeakers (active and passive), power amps, powered mixers, and HR studio monitors. This is one of the best fliptop cabs Ampeg has made. It is very similar in design to the solid state BT15 cabs of the '60's (not the SLM cabs of the late 80's/early 90's) with the exception that it is a sealed cabinet, not ported and has a horn. I personally dig the deep low end of a ported 15", but for a sealed 15" this puts out a big bottom. No compalints here. The cab sounds great with every head I've tried on it - especially a 1963 B-15NA. The only downside to this cab is that a vintage tube head will not fit inside the cab due to the horn being in the way and the 15" driver is offset enough that it would hit the transformers. Also there is a brace that runs along the back inner wall that would be in the way as well. If this cab was ported (Portable Bass Reflex = Portaflex) giving it just a little more vintage mojo - that would just put it over the top. But overall - it's a great cabinet and you won't be disappointed!

Nice sounding cab, but those casters are a joke!
For the price you pay for this cab you would think they would put a decent set of casters on. Mine pulled out after the first use. They used tiny screws to mount them....pretty lame if you ask me. I replaced mine with heavy mounting bolts.

Comments about Ampeg PF-115HE Portaflex 1x15 Bass Speaker Cabinet:

I bought this cabinet along with th Ampeg pf350 head unit. I wanted that classic Ampeg tone. I was not disappointed. It thumps. The cabinet is solidly belt and deceptively heavy for the size. It does comne with built in casters and with the flip top design make it easy to use. It looks great too.

Wish they would have included the hardware screws & washers to attach the flip-top cover to the associated amp. (Most of the local stores only carry big parts for cars & trucks.)

Comments about Ampeg PF-115HE Portaflex 1x15 Bass Speaker Cabinet:

This is my second PF115HE. The cabinet has a wonderful sound that is rich and full, and does not sound hollow like some 10" or 12" cabinets I have played. I have both cabinets hooked up to a PF-500 head which tucks away neatly in the top cabinet when not in use, protecting it from damage. The price is unbelievable for the sound quality, and 1 cabinet is enough for practice and small to medium size venues. The tweeter can be turned off or on low or high gain, which can give a different dimension to your sound. I play with round wounds and I find I prefer the tweeter turned off- I get enough treble out of the 15" speaker! My only gripe is the lack of side handles- carrying from the top handle is cumbersome and difficult, so I usually carry the cabinet from the bottom.

Comments about Ampeg PF-115HE Portaflex 1x15 Bass Speaker Cabinet:

There something in the way Ampeg makes there products that takes the signal from YOUR instrument and amplifies THAT sound. I don't have to turn twenty knobs to replicate the sound that I want to hear. True!

The Portaflex is a great cabinet. Sounds good, takes a lot of power and installing the amp is easy. It's all there in one compact unit!

Ampeg PF-115HE Portaflex 1x15 Bass Speaker Cabinet

        By john harrell

        from Georgia

Comments about Ampeg PF-115HE Portaflex 1x15 Bass Speaker Cabinet:

Overall, your money will get you the depth you are after in your bass sound and chrystal clarity, too. For a practice amp that is easy to transport this is a great tool for your toolbox. I am thinking about getting a whole second duplicate rig (PF-500 head, PF-210 cab, and PF-115 cab) and running my bass through a Digitech floor effect processor (stereo outputs). That way I will have the total of 4x10's and 2x15's when I want it, and still have the ease of transportation with it all. I really like the sound of this setup!
These portaflex cabs are pretty neat because they have a flip top. You can configure it so that it has a carry handle on top, or so that it is flat on top, in a matter of seconds. And you can easily drop some cables or other gear inside the cab and use it for storage when you are transporting your rig from place to place!
Sadly, these are no longer made in America, but they are still quality amps. The construction, finish, sound, etc. are all rock solid on this little guy.
I bought this along with the PF-210 cab and the matching PF-500 head. The combo all together cost me $1200- with this much going for this PF-115 cab. For $400, I think next time I will try to find something a little bigger, like a 2x15 or a 4x10 or something. I still recommend this cab to round out your bass sound for anybody playing a 2x10 cab alone. This 1x15 REALLY enriched the sonic range of my rig after I first just played my 2x10 alone for a few days. In my opinion, 10" speakers alone don't have the depth to really sound sweet with a 15" speaker in there to help. This cab sounds VERY nice clean or dirty. It is loud enough to keep up with my brother's 4x12 Line6 150W guitar half stack at pretty loud volumes. I haven't tried it with a drummer yet, but I am afraid it might be a little weak for that, but it might keep up. I mostly jam in my room and record little riffs that I make up and play with another guitarist here and there, but nothing serious. This amp is easy to VERY easy to transport, is durable, and sounds fantastic. If I were doing live gigs (I play metal), I would want a 2x15 to go with a 4x10 or something just to give me more volume, but I still rate this cab very good for the price. (With a better head than my PF-500, this cab might be louder... it seems like it could take some more wattage).

        AMpeg PF-115

        By Dominic Macino

        from Baltimore

Comments about Ampeg PF-115HE Portaflex 1x15 Bass Speaker Cabinet:

It's a cabinet. It really doesn't have a ton of features. However, I do like the fact that the cabinet has the storage bag for the casters, and that Ampeg provides a 1/4" cord for going to the head, or daisy-chaining two cabinets together. The three position tweeter may be useful to some players, but I generally leave both off, or, on a rare occasion, turn one of the tweeters one to first position.
This is an aesthetically pleasing cabinet capable of handling a 500w head (less at 8ohms). I have two, one being the mounting seat for an Ampeg PF-500.
The casters on the cabinet leave something to be desired. The grill cloth on one of my cabinets came with a snag already in the fabric. I would have liked at least one other handle for carrying. The cabinets aren't heavey, but can be awkward.
This is a great bang for the buck cabinet; so much so that I own two.
