Warranty
MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY
On May 1st, 2009, the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg websites will be updated with the addition of warranty URLs (e.g. www.mackie.com/warranty) expressing new A Stock warranty terms. These warranty URLs will go live on May 1st, 2009. Formerly, warranty periods for these LOUD brands appeared in a variety of locations – in product manuals (for Mackie and TAPCO) and on warranty cards and hang tags (for Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg). In order to streamline and clarify this process, Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg warranty periods and terms will be communicated in full on the warranty pages. Any LOUD products purchased prior to May 1st will bear with them the manufacturer’s warranty as predates the new policy. Moving through this transition, in order for customers to obtain warranty service, both the sales receipt and a physical copy of the (older) warranty statement will be required by our Service and Support departments in order to issue Service Requests, etc. If the product was purchased on or after May 1st, 2009, but a physical copy of the older warranty terms is not presented, the new warranty terms and periods will apply. Meanwhile, the products that bear with them the new warranty periods (as reflected in the box contents of each product) are being tracked by serial #, and contain new warranty content referring customers to the appropriate brand website. The information below reflects the product warranty periods that will be effective on May 1st, 2009 for the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg brands: Mackie: A 3-year, nontransferable, inclusive warranty on electronics and a 2-year, nontransferable, inclusive warranty on drivers (where applicable) apply to loudspeakers (active and passive), power amps, powered mixers, and HR studio monitors. I want to start by saying that I am a professional Rock Bassist with 20+ years of experience to include touring, recording and producing. For years I used older Ampegs to include the SVT2Pro, SVT3Pro, SVT4Pro and Ampeg 410 and 810 cabinets. About 7 years ago I got tired of Ampeg's poor customer service and shoddy workmanship on their new products. After a few lengthy repairs which were a huge hassle and headache I left Ampeg and went to Ashdown using their UK model ABM500 Heads and UK model 410 and 810 Cabinets. Along the path between Ampeg and Ashdown I tried the Hartke LH series heads, Mesa's Titan V12 and M9 Carbine heads and GK's 1001RB and MB Fusion 800 Head.

My current "touring rig" is the Ashdown UK 810 Classic with the UK ABM500 EVO II Head. For smaller local cover gigs and smaller room I use the Ashdown head with the Ashdown Classic NEO 210 Cabinet.

Having said all of this, I was intrigued by Ampeg's new BA210v2 and with the "sale' price I figured why not give it a shot. I got the combo the other day and I have to say that I am VERY impressed. The tone is GREAT and has a wide range of variations so that you can dial in almost any sound you are looking for. The scrambler is decent. IMO it is best used for light grind and growl as to my ears it gets a little harsh when used all out. (Think OD / Tube grit when subtle.....Fuzz/Distortion when extreme). The coolest feature by far is the fact that the 60 degree wedge position is perfect for stage applications! The tone of the amp remains consistant across all volume levels and it is surprisingly loud for the wattage rating. This means that with an external cabinet running at 4 Ohms it would be MORE than enough for even large stages.

Bottom line is this: This is a great stride by Ampeg of returning to their glory days. Can't go wrong for the money between the tonal variance, functionality and portability. I'm most likely oing to replace my $1700 Ashdown 210 setup with this amp so don't think this is "beginner gear". The real proff however will be how the amp holds up over time and if there does happen to be an issue, has Ampeg become more customer centric and "modern" along with their new designs?

I ordered a level 1 open box and and it showed up dead. They took it back and I ordered the GK MB210. This looked like it would have been great. The wedge shape, removable grill cloth and very simple gain and eq setup was very nice. The GK is great too but I think I would buy the BA210 again if i could do it all over. Maybe thats just me wondering what might have been.

Comments about Ampeg BA210V2 2x10 Bass Combo Amplifier:

After reading many reviews about this amp, I decided to go to my local Guitar Center and try one out. I was so happy with the clean tone and power that end up buying one. I am glad I did! I am using it for rehearsal and for gigs in medium size places I play in.

Comments about Ampeg BA210V2 2x10 Bass Combo Amplifier:

I could not be more pleased with this combo. It really delivers the old Ampeg sound. Of course the portability also is great. I paired it with a Markbass 15 cabinet and it rocks.

Comments about Ampeg BA210V2 2x10 Bass Combo Amplifier:

Ampeg scored with this one. The BA 210V2 has plenty of power for the home and small venues. It also has the ability to add extension cabinets, which would allow it to work in larger venues. I have not played any gigs with it yet, but it will be plenty a worship band. If your looking to work a combo into something larger on a budget, this is it. Plus, it is as close as you can get to an SVT sound for the price. Oh yeah, the monitor wedge ability is kinda cool too.

Comments about Ampeg BA210V2 2x10 Bass Combo Amplifier:

As a long time owner of a full SVT stack, I didn't really expect this combo to sound as good as it does. Does it sound like a full SVT stack? No...no it does not. But it gets darn close, and in a package I can move (for short distances) in one hand. The most surprising thing was how good the Scrambler circuit works dialed in at 50% drive and 70% blend. It adds just the right amount of grit to emulate the full stack sound...I suspect I will just leave it on permanently. This fulfills all practice and small gig needs with plenty of volume and low end. I am looking forward to 2 things, trying it with the 210AV cab and seeing how the DI Out sounds into a PA.

Comments about Ampeg BA210V2 2x10 Bass Combo Amplifier:

I have been playing the bass for over 20 years now as a hobby. I am not a professional musician. I bought this amp because I had sold my GK amp during a move and the reviews for this appeared to be honest and good. I can honestly say this sounds much better to me than the GK did (same size). I have a very used and slightly abused Fender Jazz bass that I bought 20 years ago and this Ampeg BA210V2 really brought old girl back to life! I very much like the sound this amp produces. It is not very heavy (to me) and it feels sturdy and well built. I think it looks nice too. This is the first Ampeg product I have ever bought and I am pleasantly surprised so far. It has lots of controls and options to produce different sound, and gives the option to add another speaker which I like. The case is a little funky with its shape, but I knew that going into the purchase. I don't really play gigs so don't need it setup at different angles, but I can see how other musicians would like this feature. All in all it produces a very nice sound, seems to have a ton of power and everything just appears to be quality components to me. I feel like my old bass is brand new again. Would recommend.

Get this amp! Invest! If you need some good power with a very smooth sound you need this amp right here. So many great features, you can hook up a cab to it even so you can get even more bang for your buck! Haha. The kickback thing is nice too. I got this one on the open box deal, but it was like brand new when I got it which is awesome. 450 watts of pure beastliness
