Warranty
MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY
On May 1st, 2009, the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg websites will be updated with the addition of warranty URLs (e.g. www.mackie.com/warranty) expressing new A Stock warranty terms. These warranty URLs will go live on May 1st, 2009. Formerly, warranty periods for these LOUD brands appeared in a variety of locations – in product manuals (for Mackie and TAPCO) and on warranty cards and hang tags (for Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg). In order to streamline and clarify this process, Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg warranty periods and terms will be communicated in full on the warranty pages. Any LOUD products purchased prior to May 1st will bear with them the manufacturer’s warranty as predates the new policy. Moving through this transition, in order for customers to obtain warranty service, both the sales receipt and a physical copy of the (older) warranty statement will be required by our Service and Support departments in order to issue Service Requests, etc. If the product was purchased on or after May 1st, 2009, but a physical copy of the older warranty terms is not presented, the new warranty terms and periods will apply. Meanwhile, the products that bear with them the new warranty periods (as reflected in the box contents of each product) are being tracked by serial #, and contain new warranty content referring customers to the appropriate brand website. The information below reflects the product warranty periods that will be effective on May 1st, 2009 for the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg brands: Mackie: A 3-year, nontransferable, inclusive warranty on electronics and a 2-year, nontransferable, inclusive warranty on drivers (where applicable) apply to loudspeakers (active and passive), power amps, powered mixers, and HR studio monitors. Specific models under this warranty include all SRM, HD, SA, C and S Series Speakers, all FRS Amplifiers, all HRmk2 Studio Monitors. A 1-year, all inclusive, nontransferable warranty applies to all mixers, MR Studio Monitors, Control Surfaces, Processors (digital), MR Studio Monitors, Control Surfaces, Audio/MIDI Interfaces, other SR & Recording Products. Specific product models under this warranty include all Onyx Compact, 4-bus and 8-bus, all VLZ3, all PPM, all ProFX, all CFXmk2 Mixers, all MR Studio Monitors, Big Knob, Onyx 800R, all MCU Pro family. Tapco: A 1-year, all inclusive, nontransferable warranty applies to all products and all models. Crate: A 1-year, nontransferable warranty applies to electronics and speakers on all models of MI amps, cabinets, and combos. 90-day warranty on all tubes Blackheart: A 1-year, nontransferable warranty applies to electronics and speakers on all models of MI amps, cabinets, and combos. 90-day warranty on tubes. Ampeg: A 5-year, nontransferable warranty on electronics and a 2-year, nontransferable warranty on speakers apply to all SVT Classic and Pro Series, MI amps and cabinets. Running my Hofner into this and the lows from the hollow body sound and feel great. The 40 watts and the Scrambler give this amp a great sound. Well worth the price for a small portable combo amp. Easy to move around for smaller gigs. Since it is not square it can be placed on its side to redirect to sound and it also fits well into a corner.

This amp looks great on paper and actually sounds really great in person UNTIL you notice that there is a serious buzzing / rattling / vibrating sound coming from inside the amp on certain notes. It is not an electrical buzz, it is the sound of something vibrating at a high frequency inside the cabinet.

I did what most of you would do and immediately sent it back for a replacement. Musicians Friend was very helpful and understanding and immediately shipped out a new one. WELL unfortunately the new one had the EXACT same problem. A bit more research online shows that this amp and it's predecessor have been known to have this problem since 2013.

I work in the music business and know a lot of Bass players who love their Ampeg gear. I'm sure they aren't all like this, and there are probably many of these cabinets out there that don't buzz, but Ampeg should be more careful not to associate their brand with cheap construction and known problems even in their entry level gear.

Again, Musicians Friend and their awesome customer support to the rescue, and a Fender Rumble 40 is shipping out today so I can have this rig ready for my kids birthday present this weekend.

Comments about Ampeg BA110V2 1x10 Bass Combo Amplifier:

I A/B'd the Ampeg BA110 against the Fender Rumble 40. At 1st, the Fender was more impressive. But as I continued to play, the Ampeg started growing on me and the Fender started to aggravate me.
To my ears, the Ampeg served up what I wanted to hear and nothing else. The Fender, like many inexpensive stereo speakers "wowed" at 1st but soon became tiring.
This Ampeg sounds warm and I found its response to be very flat across the frequencies of my
P&J Basses. The scrambler circuit is actually useful for introducing some harmonic complexity. Just a taste does a nice job of simulating mild tube distortion. The ability to angle it upward is clever!
I think, for the money, this is an excellent choice!

Really nice sounding practice amp. Would probably be really good for recording too. I use my zoom b1on for bass and my g1xon for guitar multi-effects processor with this amp. A really great low budget combo that sounds great. The amp and the zoom processors do no produce much noise at all and they have great tone.
The amp seems to be very sturdy. The construction of the enclosed speaker cabinet helps give the amp its great tone. I feel like the ten inch speaker gives it great tone as well.
The amp is not powerful enough to use with an acoustic drum set unless its mic'ed up. Only negative thing about the amp but its to be expected since its known its only 40 watts.
