I am a drummer of 19 years, so I have heard many different basses in many different settings, but I have never touch a bass until about 2 weeks ago. So I picked this combo up and it is great for someone like me. It has fantastic tone and unbelievable low end. Don't let the 35 watts fool you because this little thing really sounds off. Maybe not the best choice for a pro, but for this would great for a novice to advanced player. From the garage, to a small venue. It will stand up and can hold its own against the drums.
I have been playing for about a year now and I've been playing through a regular cheap guitar amp that a friend gave me. After about week of playing through it, it sounded like it was going to burst so I thought it was time for a bass amp. I came across this at a local Guitar Center shop and it was the best amp that I had played for my price range. The small, compact and lightweight feature is very useful but that doesn't take away from the sound quality. If you are looking for a bass amp thats affordable, lightweight, and sounds great, this is the amp to get.
I was looking for a good sounding amp that would perform well in smaller venues and to use during practice. I purchased this amp because of great the tone and phenomenal low end sound. I never had to turn it up past 25%-30% of max to be heard. I also like the fact the back is angled so you can tip the amp back without the need to purchase a stand. However, the weight distribution and balance is not correct for the depth of the angle to support the amp properly when tilted back. I you are not careful the amp will rock all the way back. I purchase this amp 4 months ago and the quality is not there. As mentioned above, the volume has remained well below the 1/2-way point but now the cone is shot and there's a hideous rattle when playing those low notes. I would not recommend this amp - it just won't hold up. If you do purchase this amp, purchase the extended warranty, you'll need it!
It''s a great amp for beginners. Though, I wouldn't recommend it for professionals.
I bought this amp a year ago to use in band practice, and it has never let me down. It has a great tone, and sounds great with both my 4 and 5 string. I have dropped it a couple times but it still works great, it's near indestructible. This little amp can still get quite loud, I keep up in volume with two guitarist with half stacks. Overall this amp is one of the best at this price point.
The Ampeg BA-110 Bass Combo Amp is a little power house that is excellent for practice, small clubs or applified through a PA. The BA-110 has a rich deep sound that you just don't find in most bass amps this size. To me Ampeg is the #1 name in bass amps from the small amps to the super size amps to fill a big hall. The Ampeg BA-110 Bass Combo Amp has more than just a deep rich sound. The controls on this unit will allow you to create and match most any sound you wish to create out of a bass amp. One of the best features of this little power house is its size. If your like me and have back issues it takes the wear and tear off your back vs picking up and carrying a large amp around. If your looking for a small power house amp get down to your local Guitar Center and try it out.
Ampeg remains a great brand even though the name has been bought out by LOUD inc. In fact the Ampegs are still widely accepted to be the best amps that are produced by LOUD, and the BA110 is no exception. This amp is pure Ampeg simplicity. A 3-band EQ and a volume knob, when dialed in right you get that classic Ampeg punch. I've had this amp for about two months, and its mainly just a stay at home practice amp for jamming with a guitarist, so i can't tell you how durable it would be if you dropped it down a flight of stairs. I have no problem moving this amp because its just over 30 pounds, but if your going to play with a drummer i would highly recommend getting a higher wattage amp... thats why I have my BA115
Ampeg as we know is probably the most solid company in terms of bass amps and this combo amp does not fail to deliver. Deep, clean lows and perfect mid-range and highs, this amp does not get muddy even with the lows and volume maxed, it always sounds great. Have used this for practices as well shows, just mic it up (obviously) and its will do wonders, not having to lug around a stack and head is also nice since this can do it all.
