MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY
On May 1st, 2009, the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg websites will be updated with the addition of warranty URLs (e.g. www.mackie.com/warranty) expressing new A Stock warranty terms. These warranty URLs will go live on May 1st, 2009. Formerly, warranty periods for these LOUD brands appeared in a variety of locations – in product manuals (for Mackie and TAPCO) and on warranty cards and hang tags (for Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg). In order to streamline and clarify this process, Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg warranty periods and terms will be communicated in full on the warranty pages. Any LOUD products purchased prior to May 1st will bear with them the manufacturer’s warranty as predates the new policy. Moving through this transition, in order for customers to obtain warranty service, both the sales receipt and a physical copy of the (older) warranty statement will be required by our Service and Support departments in order to issue Service Requests, etc. If the product was purchased on or after May 1st, 2009, but a physical copy of the older warranty terms is not presented, the new warranty terms and periods will apply. Meanwhile, the products that bear with them the new warranty periods (as reflected in the box contents of each product) are being tracked by serial #, and contain new warranty content referring customers to the appropriate brand website. The information below reflects the product warranty periods that will be effective on May 1st, 2009 for the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg brands: Mackie: A 3-year, nontransferable, inclusive warranty on electronics and a 2-year, nontransferable, inclusive warranty on drivers (where applicable) apply to loudspeakers (active and passive), power amps, powered mixers, and HR studio monitors. Haven't owned an Ampeg amp since the legendary B-15 (actually the last one I owned was a BT-15 that had a transitorized head). My first Ampeg amp came in 1960. I can't even remember the model name of that amp, but it had black grille cloth with what looked like white paint brush spatterings on the grille cloth and the name "Ampeg" was stenciled on the grille cloth. Then came a B-12X (Ampeg's first attempt at a two channel amp with reverb), a reverberocket and then the BT-15, which I used with a Leslie Model 16 and a Farfisa Duo combo organ in the late 1960's. That set up served me well for years. I've always stayed away from amps with small speakers because I never found one that was worth a hill of beans. When I first saw the BA-108, it had quality written all over it. I couldn't believe the price. I bought without ever even testing it out. I thought with Guitar Center's return policy, what did I have to lose. Eight inch speaker, I thought, this can't be that good. I was totally shocked at the sound quality out of this little thing. I also play rhythm guitar and bass guitar and this is quite the amp for rhythm guitar. There's enough quality volume out of this litle thing to actually use it for small clubs. It's the best amp I've ever owned for rhythm guitar. It's probably not the amp for rockers, but would be great for jazz guitarists. For such a small speaker, it's realy got depth and you don't get any speaker buzzing like with other small speaker amps. The secret to this little amp has got to be the speaker that Ampeg is using, along with the ported cabinet. It's got Send and Receive jacks on it to add a reverb unit or other toys and an output jack to run it through a PA system without having to use a mic. Try to find another small amp with those jacks. Only wish they built in a small compartment into the back to stow the power cord. This has become my amp of choice for guitar. Although the BA-018 is designated as a bass amp, it's a great all purpoe amp for many other instruments. Haven't tried it yet with my Nord C2 organ, but I need a three channel amp for that. I use a Polytone Taurus Elite for that instrument and those amps are very difficult to find. For some reason, they are not sold by major brick and mortar and on-line music stores. My days of lugging around big amps is long gone. I think this Ampeg weighs 28 pounds, perfect for me.

disappointed with my purchase. I returned it the same day. while the tilt-back design is a clever idea, the amp seems unbalanced & had a tendency to topple over much too easily. plugged in, the volume level was as expected though the overall sound quality improved 100% with the use of a noise gate! (MXR) every note I played sounded very unpleasant to my ears. there was a faint buzz saw distortion coming through the speaker. being a practice amp, the headphone output needs major attention. all I heard was my bass buried beneath a wash of white noise that became unbearable on max volume. to it's credit the price, looks, & features offered make it a better choice over competing brands. test beforehand.

Vinyl Covering coming off the back wall of the amp...

Comments about Ampeg BA-108 25W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp:

I noticed that after about a year and a half, the black vinyl "tolex?" material they use to cover the back wall of the amp was starting to substantially separate from, and curl up off of, the particle board cabinet. I used some Krylon spray-on adhesive to re-glue them down, but I'm not sure it's going to stay down. It kind of gripes me that you see this kind of cosmetic failure after such a short period of time.

        Great Bass Amp For Practicing

        By Donald Bajner

        from Park Ridge, IL

Comments about Ampeg BA-108 25W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp:

I bought this amp tp use for home and band practice. I needed just enough power to keep up with a drummer in a relatively quiet environment. This amp delivers just enough power to get the job done. It does distort a bit at full volume, but that is to be expected. The CD in and headphone out features are an added bonus for solo practice sessions. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase. This was a good value from a great amp maker. Time will tell if it will be reliable.

        The perfect bedroom practice amp

        By Scott Leach

        from Littleton, CO

Comments about Ampeg BA-108 25W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp:

If you're looking for a simple little solo practice amp, you found it. It has the Ampeg tone that everybody wants, it's less than $100, it's small, light and sturdy, it has an aux (CD) input with a dedicated volume control to simplify mixing with your playback, and it has effects loop and line out connections. It is not a volume powerhouse; the volume is perfect for solo practice, but if you need to cut through a mix with a loud drummer and guitarist you will need a bigger amp, otherwise it has everything a sub $100 amp can possibly offer. I highly recommend this amp.

Small but mighty in the tone dept. Cool features for a $100 amp.

        By Keith O

Comments about Ampeg BA-108 25W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp:

I needed a small amp for practicing and just to have around when the urge hit me to check out the Ampeg.. My other amps are much too large (and loud) to play around the house. The Ampeg BA108 fit the bill. This little amp delivers great tone and has all the features I need. The line out is handy if you want to run it into a board for live use or recording. Hook up a set of cans for silent practice. Cool little rig.

        The One practice amp

        By John Paulson

        from Pittsburgh, PA

Comments about Ampeg BA-108 25W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp:

I started playing my dad's old bass guitar after guitar and piano. I decided to look online for an amp, and I found this one due to all the features it had. I liked the fact it has effects loop and a line-out. I've tried the line out in a small pro audio place I've got, and it worked real great. I thought I heard something weird, but oh well. It also sounds great on headphones and regularly. But don't plug anything more than an mp3/iPod through the RCA input, like a mixer that I did.

Great sound for a small price and amp

        By Anthony Greutman

        from Hicksville, Ohio

Comments about Ampeg BA-108 25W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp:

Am very pleased with this purchase. Was looking for a smaller at home amp that did not sound like a cheap practice amp. This baby sounds great, nice full sound, not muddy at all and with the 3 band tone control, allows for good sound shaping. Have yet to find a sub 100.00 practice amp that matches the sounds and features this one offers.

        An Ampeg for Recording

        By MARK CUNDIFF

        from St. Louis, MO

Comments about Ampeg BA-108 25W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp:

I LOVE my Ampeg BA-108!!!! I use it for recording and it's superb. The -15dB input keeps my StingRay from overdriving the preamp. Surprisingly (clean) low end from an 8" speaker. The effects loop is a nice touch, as is the dedicated line out. I only have the Volume on 2 and I use a combination of a microphone and the line out on separate mixer channels to get a composite track. Very clean and defined tone. I have no use for the CD input so popular these days. Finally, an affordable Ampeg!

        Great Amp!

        By Robert Wyatt

        from Austin, TX

Comments about Ampeg BA-108 25W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp:

Wow! Buy this amp! It won't outplay a full drum kit on stage (unless you use your line out to the Front of House), but it will do just about anything short of that. It's great for bass, guitar, keyboard, powered monitor, CD jam box, play-along, and probably other things I haven't thought to try yet. I bought it is a general-purpose small amplifier over two months ago and have had time to test it out, both on my own and with several long-serving professional musicians. Surprisingly good spectrum coverage for a small speaker. I'm thinking it must use long-throw speakers because it can handle the deepest bass and keyboards as well as the high end of the keys, guitar, and CDs. I'm sure with two you could have a nice stereo effect using the CD input channels (might just try this simply because of the price point). At under $100, you will find uses for it that you never would have gone to Ampeg looking for and you will be pleasantly surprised. No buyer's remorse on this one folks.

        Impressive bass practice amp

        By DANIEL SMITH

        from Berkeley, CA

Comments about Ampeg BA-108 25W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp:

This is a great sounding little amp for what it is. I was looking for a small portable bass amp I can play with my acoustic combo and for practice. This is easily carried with one hand. I spent about an hour at my local GuitarCenter store auditioning the Acoustic B15 and this Ampeg, both at around the same price point. For me the Ampeg beat the Acoustic hands down -- a richer, deeper sound with more presence for the Ampeg, in spite of its 8" speaker versus the Acoustic's 10". I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this for practice or low-volume gigs. After playing through Vox and Fender amps all my life, I will now be paying more attention to Ampeg.
