Driven by 6 - 6550 power tubes for massive power and tone. In addition to '7'0s style dials and rocker switches, the SVT-VR's preamp circuitry has been faithfully re-created to match the original.
Aaahh...freed electrons passing from cathode to anode in a warm bath of Argon gas in the classic push-pull configuration...SIX!...not two...not four...but SIX 6550 Hi-Voltage tubes outputting enough seismic energy to flap your pantslegs at 50 feet...TONE! capabilities from the deepest groan of magma displacement in the Earth's bowels to the brightest spinky-spanky chirps you can produce from the upper registers of your fretboard, glassily clear and powerful...whatcha waitin' for?...give that old transistor bass amp to someone you don't like n' gitcher self the Frankenstein of all amps! The SVT Classic from Ampeg!

i remember right before purchasing this amp, the horror at the thought of having to sell my first two children atleast to be able to afford this monster of a bass head. But after getting it home and really playing on it i realized that i don't have a problem with that at all! Seriously wether you want the clangy bass tones or the super powerful low bass tones it's all in here. I prefer a combination of the two and this head lets to do that perfectly. If you can afford this head or are just ok with child solicitation you need to get this so go do it

This thing honks. Too bad the current SVT does not sound like this. This is one of those pieces that will make you wonder why they ever changes the original recipe. If the SVT-VR is coke "classic," then the SVT-CL is "new" coke from 1985. Accept no imitation and buy the real thing now. The difference is obvious. I use vintage Jazz basses and the VR provides the signature growl that I have only previously found with my original SVTs. I tour with one of these and have not been disappointed.

this is the one amp that rules them all. i've had mine about six years and nothing else even comes close to it. i run two fifteens and four tens off it and it has no problem pushing them. it can deliver warm lows but can kill any high that you want. in my experience this is the best amp for the job. the only thing is that it's pretty heavy so it's hard to move fast when playin gigs
