On May 1st, 2009, the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg websites will be updated with the addition of warranty URLs (e.g. www.mackie.com/warranty) expressing new A Stock warranty terms. These warranty URLs will go live on May 1st, 2009. Formerly, warranty periods for these LOUD brands appeared in a variety of locations – in product manuals (for Mackie and TAPCO) and on warranty cards and hang tags (for Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg). In order to streamline and clarify this process, Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg warranty periods and terms will be communicated in full on the warranty pages.
Any LOUD products purchased prior to May 1st will bear with them the manufacturer’s warranty as predates the new policy. Moving through this transition, in order for customers to obtain warranty service, both the sales receipt and a physical copy of the (older) warranty statement will be required by our Service and Support departments in order to issue Service Requests, etc. If the product was purchased on or after May 1st, 2009, but a physical copy of the older warranty terms is not presented, the new warranty terms and periods will apply. Meanwhile, the products that bear with them the new warranty periods (as reflected in the box contents of each product) are being tracked by serial #, and contain new warranty content referring customers to the appropriate brand website.
The information below reflects the product warranty periods that will be effective on May 1st, 2009 for the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg brands:

You'll find in reviews around the web that there's a general consensus with bass players and this amp. "It has 1 sound which it does very well". I've come to disagree having owned this amp with an ampeg 410-HLF classic for 6 months now.
This amp would have a shallow tone range *if* it weren't for the Ultra high and Ultra low settings. Those are the two white buttons you can see in the picture. Example: Let's say you want a jazz/funk setting so you do Gain: 8 bass: 5 midrange:8 treble: 6. You play a riff but something is still missing...so you hit the Ultra high button, switch to the bridge pickup, and slap a few notes. It becomes funk. If your more into rock tones then you can back off the high end and hit the ultra low button and your good to go.
One thing to keep in mind is *THESE AREN"T AMERICAN-MADE ANYMORE* Still it?s an incredible amp, but this might be a deterant for some. Also, if you have a 5 string the low B gets kinda muddy. This can be fixed with a compressor or a BBE sonic maximizer pedal which is a must have for any bass player who gigs regularly or plays in a room with poor bass freq acoustics IMO. Lastly, if you buy an Ampeg bass head, pair it with a ampeg cabinent (if you got the $$). They are made to sound good together.
This amp pairs incredibly well with an American P-bass, Rickenbacker 4003, or Stingray.

Unbelieveable sound, crystal clear highs and roaring lows!!
I received this head as a gift for my 15th birthday a few months ago. I plugged in my bass and I was amazed by the clarity at such high volumes and how the highs cut through the band and how the lows gave a wicked bottom end that the whole band could ride on. I especially liked the high and low boost switches which came in handy. They could provide extra highs for slapping, and lows for more bottom end. I am running this head through an Ampeg 610HLF cab and am VERY pleased with the reliability and sound of the head.
I really wasn't sure I should spend the money on the Ampeg SVT Classic rig with the head and cabinet. I have other rigs, a Gallien-Krueger rig and actually two Hartke setups, and I was forever messing with my Line 6 Bass Pod trying to make them sound like an SVT rig. I finally stoppped trying to sound like an Ampeg SVT and bought the real thing. Amazing. This is the reference standard bass sound. You plug in, and it sounds absolutely perfect.
One thing you should know though, it's heavy!!! But I'll put up with any amount of weight given the complete clarity of sound it makes. Also, before the matching Cabinet came via truck, I plugged the head into a Hartke cabinet and said "yeah, pretty good". Then I plugged into the matching Ampeg SVT cabinet. WOW.
