Ampeg SVT-610HLF Bass Cabinet

On May 1st, 2009, the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg websites will be updated with the addition of warranty URLs (e.g. www.mackie.com/warranty) expressing new A Stock warranty terms. These warranty URLs will go live on May 1st, 2009. Formerly, warranty periods for these LOUD brands appeared in a variety of locations – in product manuals (for Mackie and TAPCO) and on warranty cards and hang tags (for Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg). In order to streamline and clarify this process, Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg warranty periods and terms will be communicated in full on the warranty pages. Any LOUD products purchased prior to May 1st will bear with them the manufacturer’s warranty as predates the new policy. Moving through this transition, in order for customers to obtain warranty service, both the sales receipt and a physical copy of the (older) warranty statement will be required by our Service and Support departments in order to issue Service Requests, etc. If the product was purchased on or after May 1st, 2009, but a physical copy of the older warranty terms is not presented, the new warranty terms and periods will apply. Meanwhile, the products that bear with them the new warranty periods (as reflected in the box contents of each product) are being tracked by serial #, and contain new warranty content referring customers to the appropriate brand website. The information below reflects the product warranty periods that will be effective on May 1st, 2009 for the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg brands: Mackie: A 3-year, nontransferable, inclusive warranty on electronics and a 2-year, nontransferable, inclusive warranty on drivers (where applicable) apply to loudspeakers (active and passive), power amps, powered mixers, and HR studio monitors. • One of the best...

As reviewed by Eric on 3/27/2009

This cab has proven to me again and again what a great amp should sound like. I've had this amp for about 3 months and the speakers have worn in perfectly. Kudos to Ampeg for that one. I've got a SVT-3 Pro to go with this cab and I couldn't have asked for anything better. Sure, the 810 moves a bit more air, but the 610 is a hair behind it as far as pushing the db's goes. Check Ampeg's site, they've got it in the product description. The horn is something I don't use that much (I usually have it off), but the option is great. The only thing I'd improve is not having it ported at the bottom. But when you're playing with a 4 piece and your guitarist only has a 2x12, a 610 seems to be the perfect option. Its a true road warrior as well, as its seen the stage and trailer without damage. Only one scratch! If you want a great amp and don't want the huge weight of a fridge like the 810, go with the 610. Not to mention, they're not as common as the 810s in the rock scene. Stand out, baby. That's what its all about. I highly recommend this amp for playing any style. Its the most versatile cab they sell, in my opinion.

  • The Dominator of Bass Cabs

As reviewed by Joe P. on 10/27/2008

The Ampeg SVT-610HLF is hands down the best of the best. It dominates over ANY other bass cab I've EVER used. The tone and warmth is magnificent. I can't see myself using ANYTHING other than this cab. It sounds wonderful. It sounds like an Ampeg, no matter what head you use with it. It will still blow your mind, and your ear drums if you're not careful. :) The best cab ever made, no wonder the pros use it.

  • Whoa! What a difference!!

As reviewed by Wild Bill on 7/18/2007

I had recently "downsized" from a SVT5Pro and PR8X10 rig (Weight was killing me!) and was trying to match up a cab to my new SVT3Pro...I first tried a 4X10HLF (great cab but a tad "limiting" - 4 ohms) then tried out the 8X10. Being as this was going to be my "last rig" Weight was an obvious, and important factor in the final decision. Then I checked out the 6X10HLF. BINGO!!!! This cabinet seems to compliment the SVT3 perfectly! I get crisp highs and booming lows (and remember, these speakers are brand new and still a little "tight"). I can envision this bad boy getting "better" with age. It is, indeed, a smaller version of it's bigger brother, yet seems to be more efficient. The overall weight of the cabinet is not so much of an issue because Ampeg (in it's infinite wisdom) chose to put side handles on this model and left them off the 8X10 (go figure!) Yes, some will claim that you should "throw in an extra $50.00 and get the 8X10 and that is fine. But I found that the ports more than compensate for the other 2 tens and, at least in my limited experience, make the 6X10 MORE bass inclined. Finally, being in my 50s, weight was a very important consideration in my choice. This cabinet (along with my 6space rack) are just about all both me and my bandmates can handle and still be able to play without showering before the show! I HIGHLY urge the shopper to check out the 8X10's little brother before making a final decision. I honestly think that you will be as impressed as I was. To put it bluntly, this cab kicks some serious butt!
